Hi @Tiem, thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. Quick question: I’ve been booting my system using iMac 15,1 which is the closest to my build specs (in my signature). In that case, SecureBootModel should be “Default”? Is it “Default” ok as long as we are loading all hackintosh related kexts from EFI instead of S/L/E or L/E?

Gone are the days that you need to "clone" your system. You should use the SMBIOS that gives you the best stability and performance. There are trade-offs amongst them all. DRM, thermal step, etc.

SecureBootModel should be disabled on your efi.

The default is set to j137 which is the iMacPro1,1. The 15,1 didn't ship with a T2 chip (SMB only applies to Macs that have). The only iMac that has is the new 20,x.

@Tiem, thanks a lot for your clarification. That was my understanding and I was setting SecureBootModel as disabled in OC config file because of that but someone else was arguing that I should change to Default. @Tiem, have you tried Clover with BS and had success?

Clover works great on my Intel Laptop with Big Sur....except it needs to be booted from the preboot volume.

Could you post your EFI folder?

@Mirone

Hi, i no longer get this error with clover r5125 but it gets but i get another misterious kernel panic after appleEFI something (before the kernel perfoms fs rooting) and the backtrace just has symbols for the kernel panic handler and not the simbols for the program that actually triggered the panic, i think that this might just be clover not being fully implemented via open core at the moment, but here it is the EFI folder anyway, remeber that it's a work in progress thing and a lof of things are bit mssed up or missing since i am trying to get macOS to boot, it gives me the same kp with both catalina and big sur at the moment, so it isn't thgat great of an efi folder.

my hw is:

gigabyte x99 soc champion

i7 5820k @ 4.4 ghz

r9 280x toxic edition

Fenvy t919

sound blaster audigy rx

esi maya 44 xte

gigabyte gc alpine ridge 1.0

I have already setup an efi folder with a modified copy of clover r5119 which can boot into a big sur installation with a kernel cache present in it and works just great, but i can't get the newer clover versions past r5122 to work unfortunately.

PS: sorry if i am late

If in doubt reference the OC doc. It covers everything I wrote above.

I only use OC sorry.

You can clone mac OS sector by sector with any program that does sector by sector cloning.  This does not change the UUIDs so if you boot into the clone on the same machine from which it was made it will show up twice in Disk Utility.

On either of VMware Workstation 15.5.6 or latest 16.0, my macOS Big Sur Beta -- currently latest available, DB10 - running on top of Windows 10 Host OS will take 1+ minute (!Yes, over 1 minute!) to minimize any window.

During this time, the virtual machine is totally frozen, and nothing can be clicked, typed into or interacted with. Host Windows 10 OS CPU usage jumps to very high during this time -- on the Core i5 system it takes ALL of the CPU, on the i7 maybe half.

I just timed this, and on my HP laptop with Workstation 16.0, it takes ~65 seconds to minimize any window!
Any fix or workaround, please?

The 2 CPUs are similar -- using older Workstation version on an Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge (desktop PC, no HT on this Intel CPU) with 32 GB of RAM, and using a Core i7 Haswell (4 cores but 8 threads due to HT) on the laptop with 16 GB of RAM.

Plenty of disk space free, sufficient RAM for the VMs to run too - the VMs are located on 2nd disk (HDD), main drives on both being SSD.

I've been seeing a few success stories for a Skylake Laptop (Dell e7470), all following the OC Vanilla, but i cant hit their luck strike.

So far i've only stumbled on a kernel panic that either has "diags file failed due to panic before initialization" or literally get a the contact apple sentence only. Unfortunately the logs all scramble with <0x00> after a while.

Tried both 0.6.2 and 0.6.3, following the guide correctly. Tried even switching between prebuilt and SSDT Time SSDT's but with the same result.

Both beta 9 and 10 have the same hiccups. I did disable secure boot as well with no whatsoever changes.

Im still use OC 0.6.1, just update kexts and drivers....im not think so is necessary all upgrade...(just my opinion)....

Hi @Max.1974, This post was related to clover v5125, not OpenCore. I have been able to boot all Big Sur betas through OpenCore without issues.

Give this a try. Running on my E7470, brightness control / audio control works just fine with Fn keys.

Add your own serial, MLB, UUID...etc

E7470_OC_0.6.2.zip

Hey, thanks a lot. In fact, i had this downloaded from the other forum but still untested as i wanted a learning curve on the guide.

I assume i have to get rid of the BRCM kext and entries since i still have the original wifi card. Also, im planning to install this on a 2nd SSD on the WWAN slot (confirmed working, supported), but i do have a primary SSD where windows resides which OC does not like at all (Micron 2200S), i plan to completely have it ignored, but will it cause the overall macos setup issues?

Edit: Same KP. Image

I'm wondering if my e7470 may be different somehow as it's the only i5-6200u i've seen so far. I should probably change the ig platform id too.
