Yep! As Sherlocks says not averaging below 2.0ghz.

I’ll check on my system as well. I did a geek bench today for another reason and the score was lower than usual but didn’t notice the frequencies. Yesterday I installed the latest RC.

The differences posted on energy saver are related to the Power management of your CPU. ( Depending if you're using the SSDT-PLUG recommended by the OC Devs or not )

In the EFI for my X299, I do not use SSDTs.  XCPM is managed thru the bios.

Therefore, as @BALDY_MAN I have less options but everything works perfectly.

I don't have the "Automatic restart after power failure" because I have a UPS :hysterical:

In short, the differences or less options in your system preferences might be related to your Bios &/or SSDT-PLUG.

i have same issue too

Catalina shows 5 boxes under Energy

but Big Sur shows like this

in my laptop, no drop low frequency...

Because it always maintains a high frequency
My laptop is vulnerable to throttling.
This problem is currently degrading the overall performance of my laptop.
I am worried that this problem has not been solved in RC.
I clean installed the RC version today, but the symptoms continued to appear.
I even disabled CPUFriend kext, but the same symptom.

@kushwavez - Let us know if the average drops any lower than the average that is shown in the pic. So far your result doesn't look too bad.

Here, I closed all applications, opened Power Gadget and iStat Menus. It goes down for 1.3 Ghz in idle, that's the floor set by Mac-A5C67F76ED83108C.plist so it's normal, and turboing up to ~2.8 GHz when doing some demanding work.

I have the same result as you do.

Min 1.3ghz in idle and turboing up too 5.1ghz.

Seems as it should be to me while using SMbios iMacPro1,1 with a 9900k :thumbsup_anim:

@eSaF yep. I still experiencing a lots of minor visual bugs, and several major bugs with Safari.

  1. Opening new tabs with Sidebar opened is reeeally slow.
  2. Safari still can't show my opened tabs/window after system restart, just if I click on it, and a new empty window will open as well, really annoying
  3. Streaming an 1080p (HEVC 10-bit FLAC) video in Safari on some sites are eating up my whole 16 GB RAM, even more, then system became unresponsive because of that. I mean look at this RAM usage..... ~36 GB?? how is that even possible???

I really hope apple will fix these issues.

I'm getting proper speed-stepping on my laptop.  I use CPU Friend and selected a board ID that will allow me to go down to 700 MHz.

Doubtful, the X86PlatformPlugin needs to be loaded.

Probably over my pay grade but the guide needs to be rewritten. It specifies that X86PlatformPlugin needs to be attached (this is correct) but then later makes reference to AppleACPICPU needing to be attached, which may be there even tho XCPM module isn't functioning properly.

I'm still trying to suss out whether machdep.xcpm.mode can return an on state (1) despite XCPM not working correctly.

Probably best to reach out to Pikera's docs on all this stuff (no he's not coming back) as he's done a boatload of work on this dating well back to 10.8. But you can't just rip out an SSDT unless you really know what you're doing. And unless it's conflicting with Windows, you probably shouldn't just because some guy said to. Just saying.

@Tiem Thanks again for your input. I'm quite new to open core.   (so I don't know enough about the boot loader to be messing with it the way I do really.) I like to try stuff even though I don't  understand it propley

but I'm confident enough that I can recover for my back ups

So do you think I should be better to put the SSDT-Plug back in the Efi folder?

I was just thinking the least you have in your EFI Folder the better

Yeah, it's pretty hard to cause irreparable harm to a Hack. Usually that kind of stuff is the result of running a bad EFI for a long duration and even then, extremely rare.

Absolutely I would toss it back in. It won't harm your system having it out, but may lead to KPs down the line and those are pretty jarring to your workflow. You should jettison the notion that having less is better. While sort of generally true (less usually means cleaner), some things are just a necessity. Having a functional XCMP module I would say is one of them. What works on one board may not on another. Moreover, sometimes people can remove a kext or run something because they may not use some of the same hardware you do. Most people here don't have Apple Watches so when you're dealing with wireless issues, they claim 100% operability but then neglect to mention they don't need or use Handoff/Air Drop/Apple Watch Unlock.

Lastly, this transcends OC and is more of a general component to getting your hardware inline with macOS.

What vit et al., have accomplished with OC is nothing short of amazing, but one of the best things they've done is amass a wealth of excellent information for the community. Try to learn about the things you change rather than use a "see what sticks" approach :)

what's exactly the fix for AppleKeyStore boot delay issue with Beta 4?

Boot stops at AppleKeyStore, then move on a bit more, then it stops again at

"tx_flush:1075: disk3 xid 18185 tx stats : 20 finish 20 enter 320 wait 0 0us close out flush 22494us"

Thanks!

Hi @markpenn, how you solved "tx_flush" errors?
Thanks

Only a VMware Workstation VM here, running on top of Windows 10 64-bit OS -- so no GPU acceleration, any games or even MS Office or Apple iWork suite but still works fine for my needs - testing a simple, small & non-3D Mac app. :thumbsup_anim: :)

This latest one seems better than older DB/PB versions for me as on those I had 2-3+ minutes of freezing on trying to minimize any window.

Still freezes on that action now, but for much shorter - maybe 4-7 seconds only. :)

Hello Everyone -

I have a system with 3 m.2 drives
1. Windows

2. macOS Catalina

3. macOS BigSur (Public Beta)

I recently replaced my Windows M.2 nVme drive (SK Hynix P31 Gold 1 TB) and after that I am unable to boot either of my mac Os's. I get the following KP. Anyone has any clues on how to get past this?

I am using the latest OC version. Unable to get to the EFI right now.

the word impossible seems out of place, a little more difficult, but feasible:
you can mount efi from windows with bootice or minitool partition wizard free access it with total commander or explorer started as an admin and with a plist editor type propertree or plistedplus add and define for example nvmefix.kext

Thanks for the tip! PlistEDPlus looks really promising I'd go that. Also I did have some strange problems with Total Commander (sometimes it just messed up my Clover) so I would go with Explorer++ (admin mode of course)
