OpenCanopy Icons

Hi @blackosx I think I expressed myself badly, I can use opencancopy to get icons at startup, what is happening is that the same icons that I used in 0.6.5 are no longer being displayed in 0.6.6 even when downloading your set 3.
But if I use the OcBinaryData icons, everything works fine.
I am attaching my config.plist and my Resouces folder.

On O.C 0.6.6 you have to choose the picker variant in the misc section and rename the icons accordingly, if you chose the Modern variant, you will rename your icons accordingly eg. Apple_HDD_Cardinal.icns to ModernApple.icns

While you are correct, PickerVariant still accepts 'Auto' which is what Mirone had set. This will select an icon set based on the DefaultBackground colour which Mirone had as AAAAAA== which is #000000 black. This then would load the icon names as before OC 0.6.6.

I brought my example to simplify, but isn't the DefaultBackground just black? Sad

Quiet, I stole a bit from Chris1111, I hope it's not a problem:)

No problem at all.

OC aims to be as Mac like as possible so a default black is the natural choice. The recent introduction of allowing a background image changes this but many OC users won't use it, or won't even use OpenCanopy at all.

It works fine for me now. I marked Modern in OC and a new background appears.

Excellent! Thanks for confirming :)

@Mirone

The issue is you are missing the new scroll icons; Left.icns and Right.icns from your Image dir.

You can get them from OCBinaryData until I get round to making some.

You're right, I didn't pay attention to this. I'll try it as soon as I get home and let you know the result.

Edit: Working like a charm!

OpenCanopyIconsSetBuilder

I've created a bash script to help with generating icon sets from the OpenCanopyIcons repo. At v0.1, it's early days and only works with Set3 at the moment but it's working. And of the many icons on the repo, it currently only downloads one style.

You tell it which colour icon set you want, and if you want a background then you can choose which colour and size to match for display resolution. It then downloads each file and renames it as expected by OpenCanopy.

Left and Right icons are now available for Set3.

Updated to v0.1.1

- Run Curl commands in parallel
- Accept uppercase or lowercase Yy or Nn
- Give option for white or gold external devices

Updated to v0.1.2

- Include Left and Right scroll icons
- Give option for internal device type
- Rename output dir to be more descriptive

I've been playing with the lighting of Set3 icons and have created RedGlow with ROG logo on the background.

Theme-Preview-288-000000.png

When time allows I'll generate other sets using different colours for the glows and different mobo logos.

I've expanded the LE sets to include:

BlueGlow with backgrounds for ASUS, GIGABYTE and HP

Theme-Preview-288-000000-Blue-Glow-GIGAB

And GreenGlow with backgrounds for ACER and ASROCK.

Theme-Preview-288-000000-Green-Glow-ASRo

EDIT:

Before anyone asks, you will need to select the background image that matches the resolution that OpenCanopy uses on your system, rename it Background.icns and move it in with the other images.

Hey @pkdesign

Don’t worry about dpi. If you need to set a dpi to satisfy the software then I always use 72dpi just because I always have for screen resolutions, though some use 96dpi these days. But it’s irrelevant for this purpose as all we care about is the pixel width and height.

All you need to do is design your image at twice the target pixel dimensions for 2x scale, and actual size for 1x scale.

So if you want to generate a .icns file for a 1920x1080 display then create an image at 3840x2160 and run it through @chris1111 icon builder app.

@blackosx - I love the set3 Glow Background for Gigabyte which I am using mixed with an Icon Set by Chris1111. My only gripe is the word GIGABYTE, I wish it was rendered a little brighter making it more readable. Compared to the others even in the preview examples, it is a lot fainter but it still rocks. Please don't take this as criticism it's just my personal take.
