Guys is there any progress reports on the clean install yet?

I just tried with latest OC plus nvram variables and beta flags on my laptop and still no joy.

Gets further than it used too but stuck at a never ending scrolling screen.

Fingers are crossed for official OC 0.6 to support install of big sur.

Can you explain this?

  • in Vmware Fusion I installed a Big Sur to a 60 GB virtual disk
  • booted that up, then restarted and booted the installer again
  • in Disk Utility I created a .dmg file from the installed Big Sur disk
  • then booted to the desktop again
  • copied the created DMG file to my drive to access it from Catalina (using VMware tools, but you can use an external drive for that)
  • Open up Terminal and first mount your dmg, and search for your physical disk id you want to restore to, and for the mounted dmg's disk id.
hdid -nomount "<destination to the created dmg>"
diskutil list
sudo dd if=/dev/disk5 of=/dev/disk3 bs=32m
  • -> Where disk5 is your mounted dmg id, disk3 is your physical disk to restore the dmg onto it.
    • note: that physical drive WILL be reformatted and MUST be unmounted before dd-ing

  • After finished you can boot that drive with OC.

EDIT: As the virtual disk is 60 GB, your physical drive also needs to be at least 60 GB.

Thank you for your wonderful explanation. I'll try it. :)

How to fix

Couldn't alloc class "AppleIntelPchSeriesAHCI"?

EFI(2).zip

You forgot to add EC rename patches use either SSDT-EC-USBX.aml or rename via config.plist, I had exactly the same problem.

Any idea why the AirportBrcmFixup isn't working?

@Matgen84 Latest release with custom Kernel Patcher. Had to remove the files as per request of the author. Wait for the fixes to be implemented in the next release.

What do you mean?

That with latest commits a clean install is possible?

Hmm. no idea. It's loaded for me according to kextstat, but does nothing. BCM94360HMB showed as "Third Party Wireless card", but Airdrop and other features working just fine without AirportBrcmFixup, so I deleted it. On Catalina the card showing up as AirPortExtreme Card with BrcmFixup.

According to @CMMChris progress has been made and it's clearly possible. I think the release will be here soon to support clean install procedure with Clover and OpenCore too.

Looks like a Graphics error, maybe a misconfiguration, you're using iGPU aren't you?

edit: I'm dumb af,  you're clearly using Broadwell graphics.
