Nikhil Chandran
I finished installing MacOS Catalina yesterday. Everything is working except the DVD Drive. After every boot, a window pop's up saying the disk is uninitialized and ejects the tray. So I took a look inside the disk utility and it is saying that the drive capacity is 51.95 Peta Byte I tried the DVD drive in windows and it worked correctly and it was working fine in macOS HS and Sierra I didn't have to install any additional drivers or kext for it to work Does anyone know what's happening? Would this affect my HDD and SSD in some way?
ameris_cyning
It should be working with 0 probs if your SATA drives are working Has macOS removed internal support for optical drives? It is possible that an external DVD drive could work.
Nikhil Chandran
2 hours ago, Hervé said: No support removed, no. But it's probably one of those optical drives that require the little ATAPI patch usually provided as a FakeSMC injection or by dummy kext such as old Dil83's injector. IOAHCISerialATAPI_Injector.kext.zip Difficult to say more given that OP's has not posted any specs at all, so it's a bit of a shot in the dark. sorry, I forgot to add the specs. what should i do with the kext. should i use it in clover/kext/other or install it with kext utility Edited May 22, 2020 by Nikhil Chandran
