@AudioGod I am using efi 19.1 to install big sur but it restarts on install I have installed the latest 11L bios and am using your bios config correctly. What can it be? ps: I'm using the processor's integrated video card, I don't have an external one

Have you removed the agdpmod=pikera from the config file, as that is for certain amd graphics cards, which you don't have?

The EFIs and DSDTs have now been updated to the my latest versions.

Changes made include,

  • Lilu 1.5.1
  • AppleALC 1.5.8,
  • WhateverGreen 1.4.8,
  • VirtualSMC 1.2.1,
  • OpenCore Updated to Revision 0.6.7 (Big Sur 11.3 Ready),
  • New OpenCanopy Icons
  • OpenCanopy is Enabled as Standard,
  • New OpenCanopy Icons
  • Plus other minor tweaks and changes to all of the configs.

OpenCore EFI Update v0.6.7 - 01/03/2021

OC 067 19,1 Z390 Master EFI 010321.zip - OpenCore v0.6.7, SMBios iMac19,1

IMPORTANT - OPENCORE HAS CHANGED THE WAY THE BOOTSTRAP WORKS SO YOU WILL NEED TO RESELECT YOUR BIG SUR DISK (F12 DISK SELECT OR FROM WITHIN THE BIOS) AND THEN RESET YOUR NVRAM BEFORE BOOTING INTO THE NEW EFI FOR THE FIRST TIME, THIS IS VITAL.

Note - If your not using a 5700 XT or any other Navi GPU then remove agdpmod=pikera from the boot arguments.

Note 2 - Do not try to carry across your old OpenCore Config.plist to the new EFI as to many changes have occurred in 0.6.0. Use the new Config.plist instead.

For OpenCore Using PlistEdit Pro add your details by modifying the following

Szia. Ez a wifi kártya jó lehet az alaplap számára? Vettem egyet, de az alaplappal nem működik. Természetesen a BIOS-ban engedélyeztem.

Hi,

Looking at your guide for inspiration. Got OpenCore 5.8, Cat 15.4,  iMac 17,1 + Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT and works as long as I'm using HDMI. Cant get Displayport working in that screen does not get past black screen. Should I try 1,1 ?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm going to be updating from OC 0.6.0 to 0.6.9 later today and BIOS from F11e to F11l.

I have been reading through everything and this is what I have found I need to do:

- make a backup of everything

- update BIOS to F11l

- load BIOS F11l defaults from @AudioGod

- setup BIOS settings as per instructions from @AudioGod

- set boot drive again

- reset NVRAM (in OC picker?)

- add -cdfon to bootargs to make my 4K display work properly (?)

My current bootargs are: agdpmod=pikera -v -cdfon shikigva=80 darkwake=0

I am running an Intel i9-9900K + RX 5700 XT + EIZO 4K and iMac19,1 with iGPU of course.

Anything else I should be aware of?

Updated without any problems.

Didn't load BIOS defaults (not needed, my bad). Did not add -cdfon to bootargs.

Sadly this will be my last EFI update for this thread as my focus is no longer on the Intel side of life and it’s hard for me to keep up with little quirks and problems on the EFI side of life.
Im still here to annoy you all though and the thread will stay alive.

Enjoy and BigUps

Hey AG,

Cheers for supporting for this long. Gutted there won't be any more updates but appreciate your efforts with this especially as you aren't even using this hardware any more.

Do you think anyone would be wiling to take up the challenge of maintaining and upgrading the EFI for the community you have built here and on the Pro thread?

All the best man - wish I could follow you over to Ryzen but I have sunk so much money into this system I have to stick with it for the next few years!

Matt

Anyone experienced any issues with the latest OC, EFI and MacOS update?

I can't pin it down but I seem to have occasional lockups, seems to be related to monitors sleeping, or waking up or switching inputs. I can't diagnose exactly. My hack doesn't sleep but the monitors do get switched to another PC and on one occasion when I switched back after a day or so I couldn't get an image. Another time the screen seemed to freeze.

On both occasions I couldn't do anything other than a hard reset, and even then holding the power button did nothing - I actually had to turn off the PSU - never had that happen before.

It may be nothing but I haven't had a single issue and the system has bene rock solid so it is such a shock to have a problem now.

Hope everyone is doing great!

UPDATE: I just shut down MacOS to boot up windows - which I rarely do, and after what looked to be successful shut down the power switch would not work so I could not turn the system on. Once I pulled the power the button worked again. Very odd - perhaps a hardware issue?

UPDATE 2: 90% sure this is a hardware issue with the power button and front I/O converter I use on my G5 case mod. Strange though as it is intermittent and did seem to coincide with switching monitor inputs and case a lockup. Thanks to those who replied below.

Did you try resetting NVRAM? Reboot, at OC boot screen press spacebar, select reset nvram, it’ll reboot. Continue as usual. Then, remember to set your startup disk in macos settings after login.

Thanks for the advice. Yes I had reset NVRAM. I do think this is a hardware issue now. I am using a converted G5 case and a converter for the original power button and I/O which I think might be causing problems although it was fine for 12 months.

Appreciate you guys taking the time to comment!

Has anyone updated to 11.5 with OC 71 yet? What can you report back, can we use the same config without changes?
