jhooge
I have installed Catalina with success on my Probook 650 G1, everything seems to be working fine except one detail :-) When the display is turned of (energy saver, sleep option or just close the lid) it does not come back on. The machine itself continues running, but with a black screen. Backlight is on, brightness control button work also For installation I used a method from Rehabman and the suggested kexts. I have also tried a complete EFI package from another 650 G1 user that is claiming that it does work but no success Everything is upgraded to the latest version, Clover 5097, whatever green, lilu kexts etc. Any idea how to fix it? jhooge
Sure, no problem and I could have been smarter to post it with my previous post Some extra info, on Mojave I was facing the same problem HP Probook 650G1 Bios L77 1.49 in UEFI mode with CSM 8GB Ram 60GB SSD Core i5-4210M WiFi Atheros AR5B195 (replacement broadcom is ordered) Full HD screen 1920*1080 Intel HD4600 video Model emulation, macbookpro 11.3 Clover 5097 Edited October 27, 2019 by jhooge Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/340901-struggling-with-black-screen-after-sleep-probook-650-g1/#findComment-2695211 Share on other sites

I started all over again with Mojave (sorry, now in the wrong group) Followed the clover hotpatch method from Rehabman. The same issue is there, but with a difference. The laptop is identified as a MacBook Air mid 2013 (MacBookAir6.2) In the past there where also problems with an external display but no issue for me as I never use it This now works, when the system sleeps both screens go of, after wake the external screen works, internal stays dark. When I close the lid with power connected the external display becomes my main screen. Opening the laptop and the screen stays black, change resolution or refreshrate in the display preferences does not change anything, when I change brightness I see the backlight changing I have the idea that the display panel itself is not detected 100% correct Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/340901-struggling-with-black-screen-after-sleep-probook-650-g1/#findComment-2695395 Share on other sites
jhooge
Back to Catalina including the latest update so running 10.15.1 Some things have changed but are still not perfect. When I have power on my laptop and an external display I can close and open the laptop without problems, the external display always works, internal switches of when the lid is closed and comes back on when opened. Pressing "sleep" kills the internal display, it stays black. when I close the display the external monitor gets the menu and I still have some control of the laptop. When I take the power of the laptop and close the lid shortly and open it again I see the display go off and on and it stays working. However, when it is closed for more than 10 seconds the display stays black and refuses to come back alive. the external display remains working in all cases. Seems like powermanagement but I cannot figure out what I should change.
