To rule out potential problems from the go, only have the disc that you plan to install macOS Catalina connected to the Aorus Pro, disconnect any other Windows / Linux or data drives, external drives from your Aorus Pro. Windows / Linux and data drives can be connected after successful installation of macOS Catalina If you have more than 16 GB of memory, then first install macOS Catalina with only 16GB or RAM installed, you can later add any additional memory. Install memory modules in slots DDR4_A1 and DDR4_B1 . This build has a recommended Wi-Fi combo PCI-e card installed in slot PCIEX1_3 with its 9 pin USB cable attached to motherboard header F_USB2. ( ensure WiFi card is seated properly in PCIe slot and cable is firmly attached to WiFi card and motherboard header F_USB2 ) If using the Corsair H100i v2 AIO cooler with USB cable connected to motherboard header F_USB1, you will need to enable hot-patch ( explained in guide ) in config.plist for working sleep, wake from sleep will only work by pressing Power Button. Install macOS Catalina on its own physical drive, so do not try and install macOS Catalina onto a free partition on a disc that contains Windows. Remove any Thunderbolt cards, Thunderbolt card can be reinserted after installation. Double check your BIOS settings are the same as this guide. Following are unsupported / problematic • Intel Optane ( if you have this, remove it before installation of macOS Catalina ) • XFX Radeon RX 580 • NVIDIA GTX / RTX not supported in macOS Catalina Q - WILL THIS GUIDE WORK WITH MY NON AORUS Z390 PRO MOTHERBOARD ? A - No Q - I notice you have the Aorus Pro Z390 version, will this guide work with Aorus Pro Z390 WiFi version ? A - Possibly. PART 5 – MAKE AORUS Z390 PRO INTERNAL DRIVE BOOTABLE Make Internal macOS Catalina system drive bootable ( Video below ) So far, the Aorus Pro can only boot the internal system drive with the aid of the macOS Catalina USB Installer. To boot from the internal system drive without the installer: Download and install Clover without the RC Scripts. Copy the EFI folder from inside Z390 Pro DSDT EFI.zip folder and paste it inside the the System Drive EFI partition ( you can delete nvram.plist ). • Remove macOS Catalina installer and shut down and restart. Aorus Hackintosh should now be able to boot to macOS Catalina. PART 6 – ENABLE IMESSAGES & FACETIME Possibly Clover Configurator now automatically populates correct values for working iMessages when you select an SMBIOS. After selecting SMBIOS, example iMac Pro 1,1 ( image above ) then go to Apple and ensure you have the "serial number is not valid " message. Done! caalvarez
This is the most drama-free install I've ever done, though there's a tiny lingering issue with iMessage. It's the best guide and set of files ever, thanks so much. It took 25 minutes from initial installer boot to be fully booted into Catalina. Copied in the EFI folder, restored my Time Machine backup, and I was good to go. Everything else is working perfectly. iMessage seems to not be sending, although it can receive. Weird. I will look into some of the iMessage help files later. If someone has a specific idea, I'd appreciate it. GioF_71
Hello, thanks Glasgood for the guide, I think I will be preparing my second hackintosh using your suggestions. Sorry to ask a probably noob question, but I have not be able to find the answer. Is the build going to work if I do not install any wifi card? I plan to use ethernet connection so adding wifi would not be useful. I have read many comments and signatures, it appears a lot of people also don't use the wifi card, but nobody has stated it clearly as far as I understand. So I am here to ask for your help. Thanks a lot! thering1975
First off thanks for this guide, the one i followed from another site worked initially but then all sorts of issues set in. Did a fresh install using this guide and the recommended efi folder and never seen the system run so good. Sleep works now and no more black screen upon waking with the RX580. @slickrasta It does not really matter to be fair if you are installing on seperate drives, at a worst case scenario if Windows manages to mess up your OSX efi you can just boot off the USB installer you created for OSX, mount your OSX drives efi and recopy the folders across. If you do install Windows 2nd worth going back into the bios as normally Windows boot manager sets itself as first boot device, so you will need to switch that back to the OSX clover drive Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/340760-glasgoods-macos-catalina-install-guide-aorus-z390-pro-z390-master/#findComment-2698537 Share on other sites

leclercb2
Hello, I successfully installed my Hackintosh following your guide. It was extremely easy, thank you very much for your work. (Actually, it was harder to install Windows than Mac OS...) Everything is working except that I have instant wake up problems. As soon as the computer goes into sleep, it wakes up. I have a Corsair H115i (not the H100i). I tried with an without the usb connection but both gives the same result, every 15mn, it goes to sleep and wakes up immediately: 2019-12-20 19:00:17 +0100 Wake Wake from Normal Sleep [CDNVA] : due to XHC/ Using AC (Charge:0%) 972 secs 2019-12-20 19:16:42 +0100 Wake Wake from Normal Sleep [CDNVA] : due to XHC/ Using AC (Charge:0%) 973 secs 2019-12-20 19:33:11 +0100 Wake Wake from Normal Sleep [CDNVA] : due to XHC/ Using AC (Charge:0%) 972 secs I wanted to try the patch, but I don't see the line "XPRW change Method" in the list of patches. 1) Should I add it manually with the same hex addresses ? 2) Will it work with H115i ? Thanks again, Benjamin you can try removing AirPortFixup.kext from the kext folder from within your Clover EFI, Restart the system and see if that helps with your time to time lag and for the H115i I would personally just remove the AIOs USB connection from the board (while powered down) and that will fix sleep. It’s not used or needed for MacOS anyway. ja99004
Is there a way to disable the RX570 in Catalina? I think its scoring benchmarks from the RX570 instead of the 5700XT. I'm running a triple boot with Win10, Mojave, and Catalina. Of course the RX570 is for Mojave that's why it's in there. Ok welll that means something else is causing the system to wake as all you need to do too fix the aio problem is what I said and that should 100% resolve it. in that case remove all your usb devices and try sleep again and then if it works reconnect a device at a time until you find the problem device.
