I only have mouse and kb as usb devices. The only things I did since the previous sleep are: I paired an original magic keyboard (Bluetooth), and I installed chrome. I also attached a pair of headphones (with jack, not usb) but detached them just a couple minutes later, much before it went to sleep

What’s your Bluetooth device?

is it a usb one?

Hi! Bit of a hardware question as this is my first build with such hi-end CPU (intel 9900K) and this AORUS motherboard:

I updated the BIOS to F11 Before installing the CPU.

I install the cpu, cooling etc, but the motherboard does not post. The CPU_LED remains lit and does not circle through all other LEDS in order to get to post.

I 've tried re installing the CPU in case there is bad placement, reseting the BIOS by plugging power and removing the battery but everything is the same.

I have a corsair 650W and nothing else but the M.2. and the Fenvi Installed (unplugged the RX 580 to make sure about power) so I do not think it is a power issue (the connector is the 2x4 from my PSU)

Other CPUs work on the motherboard ( I tried a Celeron) but I do not have another motherboard to try out the i9-9900K.

I have started an RMA process but thought I 'd post here in case I have missed something as I haven't touched much hardware since 15 years ago when I bought my first Mac.

btw this is off-topic here, but - remove power cable, remove the CMOS battery (3,6 Volt Li) , wait 3 to 5 minutes. Short the CMOS clear jumper near the Frontpanel-connector.

Insert battery and fire the system up . the 4 LED's near the Frontpanel-connector indicate a) there is life , b) BIOS init

I know it's off-topic (sorry) but this is a 9900k or similar cpu post with AORUS z390 Pro so I thought if there is some info I can get, this is where.

I've tried all this but nothing. I 'm going for CPU replacement :(

Sorry again for the off-topic.

Hi

I‘ve been able to install MacOS catalina on my Hack thanks to this Guide. Thanks a lot. I do have just one minor inconvenience though. Every time i boot in to Catalina i get the setting up your mac splash screen. It‘s not a big problem but i was still wondering if someone knew how to fix this.

Thanks in Advance

That shouldn’t be happening so if I was you I would just start again with the install and fingers crossed second time works a charm :)

looks like a bad install to me.

Does anybody know of a setting that would cause a loss of usb power in clover bootloader?

I just can't use my keyboard or mouse when they are connected to an unpowered usb hub.

all ports on the hackintosh remain "dead" (meaning I can't use keyboard or mosue directly and lights are off) until I boot into windows or macos.

then the lights turn on and they work as expected.

When I use a powered hub keyboard and mouse work just fine in clover.

When using an unpowered hub they don't.

I tried with different keyboards. same results every time

any ideas?

nah. no port on the board seem to provide power until I boot to win or macos. if I use a powered hub I can connect it to all ports on the board and keyboard and mouse is working.

so weird...

Have you added any sort of usb.kext or custom usb ssdt to the EFI?

can you not even get onto bios or does it happen when the clover bootloader begins?

Ok gyus, Audiogod, Glasgood, Maldon and all the community, here is my report on my rig.

OSX:  Mojave 10.14.6 (18G1012)

Case: Cooler Master Storm Trooper

Mobo: Z390  Pro WiFi

Bios:   F11 (As per AudioGod instructions)

Cpu:  i7 8700k

Cooler: NZXT Kraken X62

Ram: 4x8GB Gskill Trident RGB 3000 (XMP Enabled)

GPU: Asus Strix Vega 64

Hdd: 1-Adata XPG 8200 PRO NVME 250GB (Osx Boot Drive)

        2-Kingston Hyper X SSD 250GB (Windows)

        3-PNY SSD 960GB (Backup)

EXTRA PCI Cards:

         1- Gigabyte Titan Ridge

2- Unibrain Fireboard Blue PCI-E (For my Firewire Audio Card) Works Great!

--I have migrated my system ONLY by changing Clover configs each time, from my trusty old GA X58A-UD5, to Z370 Gaming 3, and now to this Z390, upgraded within Osx each time since Sierra 10.12.6 without formatting ONCE!

Vega64  seems to be working fine, i dont see anything wrong, lags etc.

Monitor is attached via HDMi. Samsung 27" 1920x1080.

iGPU is disabled as per guide.

Everything works smoothly as i see it on this great board!

Some questions:

On Hackintool i see my Amd has two controllers with ???, and a Samsung Storage device with the same question marks. Are these cosmetic only or should i do something? Also no PCI info but i know this is cosmetic.

I attach everything i can to help the community, and also to help improving this system.

Thnx man, the beast works as it should be.! (with your files mostly that is!)

When i have the means to test the display ports on the AMD and the thunderbolt i will report back.

you have made some strange changes to the EFI bud.

why are you using keyboard and mouse usb kexts? smchelper. audiotex. DataHubDxe, bios folder ?

you dont need any of these to use my efi. a lot of what your trying to do is already done by the DSDT and ssdt. Take your config.plist and try it in a vanilla version of my efi and see if you get the same if not better result.

Also Change your audio layout from 1 to 7 under devices

First thing to do: double check temperature in windows while gaming. Run stress test of the card to see if there's any issue with it.

Second thing to do:  If in OSX, there's no second card detected then you're good to go in terms of SSDT. The second PCI-16 slot is disabled. You can try remove the SSDT and run clover boot flag: nv_disable=1 to see if you still lost USB

Third thing to try: In windows: Do a Clean installation of driver and remove all AMD related. Remove Geforce experience if installed. It's a coolermaster V1000 , so wattage is not an issue but if it's too old then capacitor aging may reduce the efficiency and make the PSU unstable while under high load.

4th thing to try: Remove the AMD card, put Geforce card in slot #1 and try it in windows to see if your games still crashes.

Please pals I need your help!!

this is hte situation:

IN WINDOWS:

  • both GPU mounted on mobo, Radeon on slot-0 and Geforce on slot-1
  • clean driver installation, system check and every other possible fix
  • only the Geforce attached to the power supply , tried using 1 cable (with 2 6+2 pin) and also tried using 2 separate cables connected to 2 different PSU ports  ( sorry for the next image :D)
  • 1086590724_Screenshot2019-11-28at12_16_52.thumb.jpg.319a6dbad9abc5d7f7763d1c0e985860.jpg
  • every game or benchmark FAILS and CRASHED also if temps are under 81°
  • so using  MSI afterburner i found that lowering a lot the core clocks like this, I can run every game and benchmark, never crashed, also temps reach 90/91° BUT NEVER A CRASH
  • afterburner.png.2297f1d35aee531c8fb63c9c06cbcbec.png
  • Maybe I can also increase my core clock, but for now this is a solution for using on windows,
  • Anyway I can live with it on windows  not a big problem.. BUT sadly... (read below)

IN OSX:

  • both GPU mounted on mobo, (like before ) Radeon on slot-0 and Geforce on slot-1
  • this time both are attached to the power supply, with a half cable for each gpu  (same psu cables setup, because some months ago with only the Radeon, i found that having 2 separate cables, avoids random osx reboots or hungs DONT KNOW WHY!?)
  • osx boots, but after some minutes, it SELF REBOOTS!!
  • watching on system preferences I'm not sure that the @tasc SSDT-Z390-Disable-Slot-2-GPU.aml is working coorectly, because this are the outputs:
  • imageproxy.php?img=&key=c17464ef1b1b51c71438522293_bothgpumounted.thumb.png.f2da5db859e17c7706c837f3fbb2eb0b.png
  • 299725499_onlyradeonmounted.png.dc3ad72543f0faa13893b784e5b328b7.png
  • Whit only radeon mounted on mobo, NO SELF REBOOTS

so the questions are:

  1. Is my PSU {censored}ed? should i buy a new one?
  2. is the SSDT-Z390-Disable-Slot-2-GPU.aml working? how can I be sure it's working and loading correctly? could be this the problem that causes reboots on osx?

I can live with the geforce downclocked on Window, is not a big problem

but I need a stable OSX and WINDOWS system with both gpu mounted

Later today I'll try using a THIRD cable so I can use 2 splitted on a gpu and 1 dedicated to the other gpu

PLEASE  HELP ME!! Im going MAD!

Attacched EFI folder also

Hope I was clear explaining the problem and you liked my pics! LOL

@AudioGod et al. thanks for the awesome guide and help!

I'm trying to set up my first build but I'm afraid I'm doing something wrong.

I tried all EFIs provided in the first post (MacPro1,1 and iMac19,1) as well as the CFG Unlock and CMOS resets but nothing seems to work.

My symptoms are: right after the Clover menu and Apple logo+loading bar I greeted with either:

- blank screen

- green garbled screen with part of the screen containing the macOS installer

- the white-on-black "stop" icon

My specs are:

i9 9900k

sapphire nitro+ rx 5700 xt (using hdmi cable)

1tb nvme

I'm using Catalina 10.15.1.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as I'm running out of hair to pull out of my head.

Cheers

Hi Buddy,

ok so let’s start again,

1. Reflash your bios using bios F11 as linked in the guide.

2. once you have done that unlock CFG (read twice and follow the steps carefully and your be fine)

3. The 5700xt is tricky to get working but SMBios 19,1 with the igpu enabled is the one that works best.

4. make sure you also make the following changes to the bios using the unlocked CFG profile.

• Boot -> Windows 8/10 Features -> Win 8/10

Boot -> CSM Support -> Disabled

Settings -> IO Ports -> Internal Graphics -> Enabled

 Settings -> IO Ports -> DVMT Pre-Allocated -> 32M

 Settings -> IO Ports -> DVMT Total GFX0-Allocated -> 256M

 Settings -> IO Ports -> Aperture Size -> 256M

Settings -> IO Ports -> Above 4G Decoding -> Enabled

5. Use the 19,1 EFI and try again and report back. :)

@d2000209 Use this EFI That I created for somebody else with the same setup as you.

@d2000209 Give that all a try and let me know how you get on.

If you downloaded the EFI a few mins ago then download it again and use the new one as I posted the wrong one for you by mistake.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I tried the new EFI you posted (it has a Christmas theme, right?) but unfortunately nothing changed.

I also reflashed the bios to F11 (I did that too previously) and enabled the integrated graphics and used the settings you provided.

I attached a photo of the resulting screen that appears right after the Clover menu and the Apple logo loading screen.

Thanks again for helping me out, you are the best!

Cheers

Its a tennis court...wow :hysterical:

if you wait does it flick back to normal after a few mins?
that could be your monitor receiving the wrong colour palet. Does your monitor have an option to check what colour palet is getting sent to it?

its meant to be RGB

what resolution is it and r u using a display port or HDMI port?

Yes, the tennis court of pain :D

Truth be told I probably didn't wait for more than a minute at the green screen of death. I currently re-re-re-resetting the CMOS, but in my next attempt I'll let it sit overnight!

The current monitor is connected with an HDMI to DVI cable as it's an older monitor. I'll try connecting my newer Dell that has both an HDMI and Display Port and report back.
