Do you think it's a bug in DP4 :) Because only solution: restart

Hi Guys

One more stupid question: I've Logitech keyboard issue after one hour working on Catalina, mouse works well. I can't use it no more. These two devices are with nano USB on USB2 rear port.

Any idea, please?

Isn't it the CAPS LOCK issue? There's a bug in Beta 4 that ejects the keyboard on pressing the CAPS key.

Switching USB ports should fix it (until pressing the CAPS Key again).

One workaround is to disable the Caps key in Settings >> Keyboard >> Modifier Keys.

Yeah... I never use Caps Lock but since this bug I realize how many times I accidentally hit that key. I had to reboot 15 times a day until Chris1111 pointed out that you could just disable caps lock  :hysterical:

That's the weirdest bug I've ever seen! How did they manage to get that wrong? :hammer:

I'm quite sure someone at Apple's HQ is laughing his ass off...
In a couple of years he'll still be telling this story. "Dude, do you remember how I made the capslock key crash DriverKit?! Hahaha!"

It’s not all keyboards, my Corsair K70 Rapidfire RGB keyboard works perfect even using caps lock.

I don't know if it's the CAPS LOCK issue: after one hour working on Catalina, Keyboard don't work, only mouse is functional (Logitech combo MK235). These USB receiver is connected on  rear USB2 port.

Maybe I must don't use CAPS LOCK at all for this Beta 4.

Thanks.

Anyone able to update through SU? I can't boot the installer; it just hangs ...

I updated it without any problems.

Weird VirtualSMC message you're getting there there. Also it hangs right on apfs load. I'd do a clover version and drivers check.

by the way, instead of fixing the CAPS LOCK, they just disabled it! No more crashes, but no working caps

Did already. Also tried with FakeSMC, apfs.efi instead of ApfsDriverLoader.efi but same issue regardless

Do you have also the VirtualSMC.efi in the drivers folder, alongside with VirtualSMC.kext in kexts folder?

No, since AFAIk that's only needed if you're using FileVault which I'm not:

Quote

VirtualSMC.efi module is recommended for boot.efi compatibility when FileVault 2 is enabled.

Anyway, the VirtualSMC error is gone now, seemed to be a one-time error. The boot process is still stuck at the same spot though

Edit: Just to be sure I did add VirtualSMC.efi but no difference

Edit2: I've compared a successfull boot of DP4 with the boot of DP5 and they're identical except that DP5 stops at:

apfs_module_start:1682: load: com.apple.filesystem.apfs, v1412.0.6, apfs-1412.0.6.151.2, 20/07/26

On DP4, the first line AFTER the above is:

AppleUSBLegacyRoot@:AppleUSBLegacyRoot::init: enabling legacy matching

before it continues booting.

If anyone has an idea, please shoot.

Nah, I'm trying to update my Precision T1700, so I can comfort you that it isn't related to laptops :P

I did not install Catalina on my Probook but I guess I will have the same issue there too...
