So this is what my boot option looks like. I also have clover installed and set up just the way the guide states. Am I missing something? I’ve went through all the notes as well and haven’t found anything.

Did you change de BIOS settings? Maybe make again the bootable usb o you could try a different one

Hello!

This was awesome guide! Just curious if this guide will still work with the Z390 AORUS ELITE version of the board? It's a little bit cheaper the difference is minor I think compare to the Pro version.

Thanks!

It should work. The USB layout on the back of the board is different, so you will have to create your own USB ( SSDT or USBports.kext ) fix using hackintool.

@glasgood

Whats gone wrong for me if I can no longer open jpegs via preview?

this is on my vega56 buddy.

Avoid NoVPAJPEG kext if needed because it just disable hardware acceleration when opening jpeg.

Use hackintool, check if VDA decoder is fully supported or not. If you cannot open jpeg, it will likely say not supported.

If you're using iMac pro 1.1 like I am, then double check the Clover config if you have removed all things related to iGPU (device properties, boot flag, injection, etc.) and completely disable it in bios.

Do a restart and you will see VDA hardware acce. is fully supported even though the iGPU info is missing.

I must be missing something as I can't find any traces of the old igpu settings but I'm far from clover literate so would you mind flicking your eyes over my config and see if you can spot it for me please buddy?

I don't see anything wrong with it except those ??? in the device properties that raise some concern.

I ran into your problem before when change the SMBIOS to iMac Pro 1.1 and cannot open JPEG. All I did was removing all things related to iGPU and it works well again.

Here is my config file (warning: I still run 10.14.5 18F132 and on older version of clover)

The only thing I can spot and it might also explain the ??? Is it's still showing my gpu as a second card in pci info so I will try redoing that in a mo and see if it helps.

@glasgood

What device properties do I need to keep hold of for your config?

Was it the sound card and anything else?

Can you try taking out the GPU device properties to see if it works. I don't have any GPU PCI info on my config because I'm too lazy to export everything, so I reuse Glasgood config and remove anything GPU related since glasgood is using a different card.

Removed it all and same result.

I've done a side by side of my pci info and yours and can't find anything.

I've just also tried copying your pci info over to mine to totally wipe that out and same result but now I know its not that.

I can't find anything in clover and the IGPU is completely disabled in the bios so I'm abit lost now...lol

Audio ID is injected in properties, so you want to keep that one. The others you can remove and add back at a later date.

hum... let me just upload my entire EFI here (minus the SMBIOS and serial etc.) so you can try on yours, remember to port in all of your working SMBIOS and system parameters. Note: I'm still on older versions.

If it's not working, maybe you can upload your EFI here so I can sync up with you again. We have identical hardware so making yours work is not a big problem.

Update to the USB port issue. I found another tutorial and created a custom SSDT with Hackintool and this time it is working.

I still don't know why yours didn't work but in the tutorial is mentioned to remove "change XHCI to XHC" from boot flags.

The tutorial also stated to move SSDT-EC.aml from Hackintool to the EFI folder.

Might one of these two points be the issue?

If anybody has still Issues with Ports, here's my SSDT (no USB-C mapped since I don't use it).

Bingo brother, Your efi totally works so what on earth is going on with mine?

I still get the ??? in display properties in Hackintool but I think that's just the newer version showing ??? instead of unknown.

I am now going too update your EFI and bring everything back to how I had it and see if it all goes wrong again or holds good. Il send back the EFI to you once I've made my changes to it. :)

I see Your using my USB Config cos my weird setup is singing along as normal so time saved there yay...lol

Yeah as long as VDA decoder is shown as fully supported, you're good with JPG files.

Lol, WTF happen to your previous EFI ??

I ran into the same problem when I changed to the iMac Pro bios from glasgood setup. Taking me 2 weeks to figure it out and glad it's working well for you.

and thanks for the efi, I will sync up with you so we have the same setup again. it's easier to troubleshoot if something goes wrong.

I hope you like the way I have the bootup screen as I cant stand the clover defaults.

I have also removed airportfuxup kext so put it back if you need it as my wifi card don't. :)

p.s. me and then my friend just played spot the differences between my old config and yours and theres literally nothing different other then the changes I made. Seriously weird but again thank you so much as it's perfect again.

Oh dear, I played that game too and here are the differences (left side is mine Config, right side is yours before changing to mine):

That's the pre before I did anything config.

Even with that removed it still wasn't having it for me.

I also tried copying over all your device properties to my config over writing mine and that didn't work too.

I'm lost to where the differences are haha. Maybe the cache is changed when you change your EFI and that solves everything?

Anyway, we're up and running now. So, CHEER !!!!

I feel like @glasgood and many members in contributing in this thread may have create the best comprehensive guide for Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro that ever existed.

BTW, @glasgood @AudioGod , you ever see this thing: Bool ATIController Test VRAM....
