Ok so the Hackintosh is getting close to perfection. The only thing remaining are the USB ports. On the back only the 4 USB 2 ports are working. Before I start to digg into how to create a ssdt myself this is what hackintool looks like with the "post install rx 580" EFI.  Does this look correct? Only two slots active?

It working good, if you keep Hackintool open and connect a USB3 storage device to back of motherboard plate, then you will see it register the correct speed. So in this instance I connected my SanDisk Ultra USB device to SS5 and it changed from Unknown to 5Gbps.

Thanks! Just for better understanding. What if I connect a USB 3.0 hub with 2.0 devices connected to it? I would still need a USB 2.0 lane on that port, right?

Thank you for your great tutorial.

I am having an issue post installation. After I install Clover EFI and copy your post installation efi folder (the one with RX580) my computer boots to a black screen. Thus I was wondering if there is any known fix for this issue?

No other ideas, not sure why @Sceme29 still has problem with hack, his specifications are very similar to mine except SSD and AIO Watercooler, just now wondering what revision @Sceme29 Aorus Pro Z390 motherboard is? . But I would go back to basics to find root of cause, such as test if problem persists when running Linux from a live CD and checking all hardware and cables are seated properly, remove all overclocks, disable X.M.P , test with 16GB ram ( in recommended RAM slots ) and double check BIOS settings and possibly test with another SSD drive and maybe test if H115i is causing problem.

There's only 1 production revision for the Aorus Pro so far. It's 1.0.

I think there's another version which is bascially a knock-off that cheap chinese outlet is selling but I highly doubt Sceme29 can get a hand on one of those because it's for Chinese local market only.

Yes this is correct. USB 2.0 devices will not work even with a USB 3.0 Hub.

Hey Mate, Well I kept messing with it last night and narrowed it down even more. Turns out I had both an HDMI and display port plugged up to my monitor. For some reason I figured “ let me test which output works”. Upon doing this I unplugged the hdmi from the motherboard and left the display port plugged into the GPU......restarted the computer and bingo! Waking from sleep works as it should.

after this finding I tried the following just to test it out-

- used the EFI you sent me 2 days ago, works fine

- used the post install efi and it works as well but not the Bluetooth, I think that’s because the USB ports on the motherboard are disabled

Somehow the hdmi port is the culprit but honestly since I don’t use that I figured I can live with this issue....for now.  And just to clarify in case it makes a difference, my motherboard is the z390 aorus pro WiFi. I bought it through amazon

@glasgood hello again!

It seems that it didn't work after all... I left my computer to sleep overnight and in the morning I got:

This ia a bug in Mojave. I have exactly the same issue with my original iMac.

The HDMI port on the motherboard uses intel iGPU and if you don't have the right settings (mostly framebuffer), it will fail to display anything. That's why it doesn't work in this case. And since you have a dedicated graphic card, why don't you just unplug HDMI from the motherboard. I've tried with both WIFI and non-Wifi board, it doesn't make any difference at all with the iGPU. The only thing that changes is the amount of free PCI-E lane you have.

Thats good to know, i appreciate your response. I was reading about it and will be trying some different Frame-buffer fixes to see if that helps but yea, at the moment i just unplugged the hdmi since really its not pressing since i'm using the display port.

Oh my goodness. I haven't updated my rig for many many years GA-Z68-UD3H-B3 with a Nvidia card, updating bits and pieces but finally Mojave brought it to it's knees. I researched for weeks and weeks and was hopping between 3 different motherboards. I finally decided to get the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi with i5-9600k. I kept my old machine running so I could build the USB installers etc, so kept my new RX580 in the old machine and hoped I could get the internal UHD630 working first and then move it over once satisfied. I built/rebuilt and again and again clover installers, manually following the Coffee Lake plist and customising it. Trying various UEFI 64 drivers with very little success - I don't think I ever reached the install screen. In despair I tried your method and after unplugging and unplugging my screen managed to get an install on the machine. I learnt so much looking at your configs and my configs but never enough to see where I was going wrong. I woke up this morning and decided to move the RX580 over and start afresh with your pre-install for that card. I wish I'd done this earlier!

Long story short, I'm up fully running and I think everything is working. I've just transfered by PCIe Wifi Card with Broadcom BCM94360CD bluetooth and after a reboot works like a dream. I can see my Firefox icon/iphone pop up as soon as I start looking at anything on my phone.

Just need to transfer over all my hard drives from the old machine and I'm done.

Honestly, can I donate something to you. I was getting so pis*ed off with this. Angry with everyone as I didn't want to install Windows 10 as a final resort so I hadn't bought a paperweight.

Let me know. You've saved my life!!

Just one final thing. I see that the Pro and Pro Wifi are basically the same board. Could I take a look at screen shot of your USB device tree.

My internal F_USB ports are working, as is the USB3 header on the board.

On the back the 4 USB 2.0 seem to be working. But the rest of the USB3.0 under the HDMI socket seem to be dead. Is this right?

Thanks again!!

Hi,

All USB3.0 ports are working on back plate of motherboard, but USB2.0 is not enabled on those USB3.0 ports on the back of motherboard. So USB3.0 port SS03 just below HDMI port is working, but USB2 wont work on that port. USB2 is intentionally disabled on motherboard to keep port count down. USB2.0 ( HS09, HS10) are enabled on F_USB30 motherboard header for use on computer case, chassis.

Hi

I am a first time Hackintosher. My build is comprised of a Z390 Aorus Pro (non Wifi), an Intel core I5 8600K and a MSI RX580 Armor OC. I found this Guide quite helpful. I got quite far. However, on my installation attempts, the screen stays at the grey color before the apple logo appears. In the Video you show for the install, the screen I am Stuck on can be seen at 2:29. I am unable to make any progress beyond this point. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could give me some advice.

Sincerely

Does hackintosh freeze at grey screen, does system shutdown / restart after grey screen or does Hackintosh go straight to a kernel panic with message?

Also, are using the pre-install folder? If so, check that BIOS settings are exact same as given in guide.  Is USB installer connected to USB2.0 ports on back of motherboard plate? If so then test USB installer in another USB port.

If problem persists after checking above, then recreate USB installer on a different USB storage device.

It freezes at the grey screen. I have followed the guide step by step. the only thing that is different is that I seem to have a slightly different version of the Bios as two options/settings that you mention in your guide are missing in my bios under chipset. I will try and recreate the Installer on a different media and get back to you.

Thank you very much for your help.

What options / setting is missing ? Some settings ( DVMT) are only shown after changing other settings in BIOS ( such as enabling internal graphics ) and then rebooting back into BIOS. You on BIOS F9 ?

The two settings that are missing in my version of the Bios are:

 Chipset → DVMT Pre-Allocated → 256M

Chipset → DVMT Total Gfx Mem → MAX

Enable Internal Graphics in BIOS, save then shutdown and restart and go back into BIOS and you will see DVMT options
