Ok I have an idea,

What If i save my motherboard bios setup and send it too you (with the overclock switched off) and then you load it up and give it a blast and see if you get the same results? (Also update your bios to F10 before you load in my settings)

Wanna try it?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I don't think it's the motherboard acting up weird, more like Silicon Lottery is at play here.

Let me try doing a small test of 100 times power cycle this weekend to see if i can consistently reproduce the error.

Here is the latest bios and my settings saved.

give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

I'll give it a try this weekend then report back to you

thanks a lot buddy. Enjoy hacking!!!

Our builds are pretty much identical right down to the psu so we should both be experiencing the same behaviour. Unless your Cpu OC is not truly stable or your overclocking your ringbus to high then you should be as rock solid as my build is.

Updating your bios and trying my settings brings you totally inline with me so if it still freaking at that point then you have to explore your oc's across the whole system and default everything and go from there. If you have already done a rma on the vega then I just can not work out what else it could possibly be.

Good luck when you give it a blast and report back with your results buddy. :)

Hi @glasgood I just wondered if you had any ideas for my ongoing Bluetooth unavailable after sleep issue. I have tried different kexts and boot arguments to help, but still have the issue. I have now ended up not using any kext as I have the BCM943602CS combo card and discovered it works without, but still have the issue. However, the odd this is, it only happens after a longer period of sleep, and I have also just discovered that rather than having to reboot, if I sleep manually and wake again, then it comes back on! The it first wakes, it says "not available" and the hardware no longer appears in the system report or in IoRegExplorer, although Wi-fi is still fine. But as I say, it then all comes back after a quick sleep/wake. I am wondering if there may be a way to force it to come back on as well?

Thanks.

I've just heard about the OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi may brick the motherboard news. Is it real or just fake news. Is there any alternative?

@larabee

Interesting, will wait and see how this plays out before making any decision to change driver. But in the meantime, I’m staying with the driver.

I'm having problems with other drivers , just need to sit tight and see.

All the other drivers cause instant & intermittent problems with Aorus Pro, I tested them ages ago and OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi is the only driver that works. It seems that Nick Woodham's OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi driver had been around for some time, since 2016. If the driver was bricking machines, surely we would have known about this by now.

I've tried to conduct my own experiment but the sample size of 3 motherboards with too many variable is hardly conclusive enough. 1 of my designare Z390 did suffer a problem with BIOS and have to be RMA. Both chips got corrupted after around 500 power cycle. My Z390 Gaming X and Z390 Pro random startup hang and clear bios settings. Things stop after I changed SMBIOS to iMac Pro 1.1 and update the latest BIOS and use @AudioGod bios + settings.

I can assume the driver does sometimes mess up the hardware but the chance is just as slim as winning lottery ticket.

@glasgood @larabee can you please help me with my problem? i cant boot to macos, i am getting errors and wont allow me to continue to macos. i tried powering it off then on, but still stuck at the same problem. This happened after I inserted the BCM943602CS card into the board last night. I'll attach the photos of the error, it happened twice, with 2 different errors that occurred. Thank you!

UPDATE: apparently, I can boot to macOS Mojave after I boot to windows 10 first, then restart and then boot to macOS, it seems to bypass the error.

sometimes a few restarts are needed after making changes to the system. Glad you can get it working.

@glasgood Would you mind looking at my EFI once more?  I just installed the Dell DW1560 in the back m.2 slot with an adapter card  The kexts I seemed to have added works well with the Wifi section but the Bluetooth side is not being recognized.  It says "Bluetooth: Not Available.  I have a cable running from the card to the internal USB 2.0 connector.  I believe I need this to use Bluetooth.  When looking at IORegistryExplorer, I cannot see the card connected on port HS11.  On a side note, I can not also see my desktop speakers connected to HS04 in IORegistry but they seem to working.  I thought HS11 was the internal port and I labeled it "Internal" when I went through with your guide.   I'm wondering if I am using a wrong kext file, maybe I didn't disable something in the bios, maybe my USB mapping went wrong.  Who knows!  I appreciate the help.  With the kexts I've added, I'm noticing restarting is sometimes taking a few restarts as well.  Maybe I do not need all of the ones I added.

Thank you again

EFI.zip

UPDATE:  I switched the side the cables were within the internal USB port.  I was using pins 2,4,6,8 on the right side and switched to pins 1,3,5,7 on the left side and it was recognized in IORegistry and in the system report.  I am now waiting on an antenna replacement.  The ones I originally ordered were only for PCIE and not m.2.  So I cannot test the Bluetooth and wifi without the antennas just yet.  I do see my wifi but the signal is too low.  Bluetooth does not see anything at the moment.

@Oom There have been a couple of updates already if you just google "Hackintosh" "10.14.6".  There seems to be just a couple of precautions you have to take (Back-up, update the bootloader, update patches for 10.14.6, but otherwise seems like a pretty harmless update.

Good news thanks @glasgood and @JmacUSAF so I can just click update and wait for system reboot then select boot from ssd as usual no extra step required?

Yes, normal update. Takes about 15 mins, so be patient. Always recommend to use Carbon Copy Cloner  beforehand. Carbon Copy Cloner makes a bootable backup of you full macOS installation and has a trial period.

If anyone is interested, I decided I wanted to switch from OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi if there was even a slim chance of it causing issues, but had never had any joy with any of the others. I gave it another go, and finally got another working - OsxAptioFix3Drv.efi. Note, I am on a Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming, but it may relate to similar boards? It does come with a big caveat though, and that is disabling iGPU in the BIOS to free up more memory when booting. You also need to add "slide=0" to boot options if you don't have it. With both of those done, it worked for me. iGPU for me was only for hardware acceleration in some apps, but I then changed the model in SMBios to iMac Pro 1,1 and that enables hardware acceleration using my graphics card (RX570), so the iGPU become obsolete anyway - as an aside, it also fixed Netflix playback in Safari.

It is possible on different hardware you may be able to boot with iGPU, but you would need to calculate the slide number - I tried that, but there were only 1 area of memory I could use, and the slide number for that didn't work.

Hopefully that may help someone. I also successfully upgrade to 10.14.6 after doing the changes, and all was fine.

EDIT: Forgot to add, you also need to remove anything relating to Intel IGPU in your clover config.

Is Quicksync working? Can you try how it works in Final Cut Pro X? Or at least is Videoproc is showing hardware acceleration enabled!

Thanks!

Hi, Thanks for you message I just want to confirm if I have to choose 'Boot macOS Install from Mojave' from clover to complete update after first reboot? I'm not know if my clover and kexts up to date how do I check?

'Boot macOS from Mojave' is the only option I normally have.

Hi. Just tested exporting H.264 in Final Cut, and the RX570 sat at 100%, whilst the CPU was around 20%, so I can only assume it was using hardware? Also, see the screen shots from VideoProc and MacX Video.
