JustForKix
I was using 10.4.3 which was working perfectly on my Dell Dimension 8400 desktop and then the upgrade bug bit me. I got ahold of 10.4.8 and installed it over my existing partition and now I am stuck with a "Still waiting for root device" message. I tried installing natively and through VMWare with no luck. I tried all possible switches "-f -x -v etc.." with no luck. I searched but cant seem to find a solution to it. I am using Jas 10.4.8 reseed dvd image and I have an intel sse3 capable processor on an intel motherboard, 1 gb RAM, 120 GB PATA HDD. Help, anyone? MtheG
Hi I had te same problem. Did you upgrade by clicking the combo update and the semthes kernel or just the combo? If you did both triy to reinstall 10.4.3 again and upgrde by taking only the combo. You will see that the new kernel is allready build in the combo update Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33555-need-help-installing-1048-still-waiting-for-root-device/#findComment-237656 Share on other sites
JustForKix
MtheG : I reinstalled by completely erasing my 10.4.3 partition. I did not try to update. I will reinstall 10.4.3 and try the update. Did you get it to work by installing the combo update? Thanks!
