in Mojave the problem still exist (sometimes) in my machine... must boot with -v to boot normally
in Sierra & HighSierra is normal

It will be interesting to find out the cause. We need logs or screenshots or something.

For people failed boot without -v

Do you have in config.plist Disable kext panic in login

I do believe I do but not on both systems. And both my hacks have the issue. I will have to check tomorrow.

Correction: I do have that in my config.plist on both hacks.

Do you think this is the issue?

I read the documentation but I din't understand what SMCLightSensor.kext is for.
Can we use it , instead of applebacklightfixup.kext , for backlight control ?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but SMCLightSensor is for automatic brightness control?

Can you disable the patches and see if the issue persists.

Well to answer my own post I disabled the 2 patches I had and it didn’t help.
More research to be done.

es, you're right. Normally device name at notebook is ALSD

Hello!

Asus Zenbook (other devices from Asus, I don't know, but it should be Asus specific) the ACPI device name is ALS_ for the mentioned senor. There is also a methodObj named ALS. See in attached file.

Have fun.

Hello,

There is something strange in my VirtualSMC based Hackintosh installation (macOS 10.14.2)

I switched from FakeSMC and FakeSMC_[ACPI,CPU,GPU,LPC,SMM]Sensors.kext (Version 6.26-357)

to

VirtualSMC (Version 1.0.2) and SMC[BatteryManager,LIghtSensor,Processor,SuperIO].kext (Version 1.0, 1.0, 1.0.2, 1.0.2).
Lilu (Version 1.2.8 ) is installed.

iStat Menu (Version 6.30) shows now in the sensor section CPU Core 1-3 instead of CPU Core 1-4 (see screenshot).
With FaceSMC*.kext I saw as it should be all 4 cores.

Is this a known problem?

Regards
Michael

Ok, now I learned how to show all 6 cores of my 8700K in iStat Menus by choosing iMac Pro SMBIOS over iMac 18,3 and sacrificing IGPU and Quick Sync, all good so far.

Now my question is how to show GPU Die temperatures when its blank?

(As I see is the same for everyone here using VirtualSMC, GPU Die is - )

*Please don't tell me to buy an original Mac from Apple stores to solve the problem because I already know that solution.
