right, I have now noticed
It's a non metal problem. Even unsupported realMac's without metal graphics.
The menu bar is also too dark.
Setting System Settings / Accessibility / Display / "Reduce Transparency" helps. The bar is lighter.

Everything works with metal graphics. sorry

So, I just re-installed Beta 4 using Full Installer to find out what caused WindowServer crash with my Nvidia Fermi GF119. (Fyi, I am able to reach 10.14 Desktop using CoreDisplay binary from Beta 1 located on /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreDisplay.framework/Versions/A)

Using CoreDisplay from Beta 2 - 4; what I get is; "Failed to create Metal Device for accelerator xxxxx". It seems Apple assumed Fermi as Kepler, while Kepler is Metal capable graphics (both Nvidia GF && GK drivers are still included on 10.14's SLE as well) which are using same tech. but diff capability, unfortunately. Interesting, why your Intel HD 1st Gen, HD3000, and some OLD AMD graphics that aren't Metal capable got no WindowServer crash issue with Mojave though using kexts from prev. macOS version?

How do you do the Nvidia? Did the drivers go out?

No, they didn't. I'd recommend using the iGPU, if you've got an unsupported Nvidia card, until they release official drivers for Mojave.

Guys,

Anyone having issues with preview not opening the jpeg files. Video, pdf and other files opening well.

One member found the same but no further findings on the issue.

How do you fix it??

Regards

I have been doing some testing and it seems like its a SMBIOS data issue, maybe firmware features, bios release date and bios version. I was using MacPro 6,1 SMBIOS, switched to iMacPro 1,1 SMBIOS now everything works fine even full screen recording and I don't have a iGPU because of Xeon CPUs. Have not confirmed those settings yet that is messing it up.

Yeah have seen the thread, but I have a laptop with Nvidia , none of the bios setting possible, I undid Nvidia injection but no go, did not have this in the previous betas.

Hmm...then I don't know... I mean if you didn't change anything in terms of kexts used or config, then I don't know. And are you saying you can't enable/disable the iGPU in BIOS?

Oh, there was someone else with an HP tower with the same issue (on that thread)... HP didn't put a basic option like this in their BIOS. I guess since yours is also a HP laptop, it's probably the same. What makes it intriguing to me is that you say you didn't have this issue with previous Betas... Which means that, if you changed something, that something could actually work for anyone with a HP motherboard, be it laptop of desktop. If you didn't change anything...then I don't know... I heard someone saying in Beta 4 works without any tricks whatsoever... I didn't try it on my rig. But...maybe it's been "fixed" on Apple side? God knows. On my rig, everything works fine with Beta 4.

But for the HP boards, I don't know of any workaround so far.

I would highly appreciate it if we would continue this discussion onto the dedicated thread, if you don't mind. It's easier to keep track of this issue in a single place. Also, everyone visiting that thread will be able to see these posts about HP laptops, as well, instead of having to dig through the Mojave thread.

Updated to Public Beta 3. Preview and Quicklook still can't open PNG and JPG files, which is a deal breaker.

Maybe update your signature with the hardware you're using and take a look here and see if you can apply some of that to your rig? Also, feel free to add anything else related to this topic on that thread. That's why it's been created in the first place.

For HP boards there is no workaround (unless you can somehow switch from iGPU to eGPU in BIOS, which doesn't seem to be a feature that HP has added to their boards).

Try to delete ACPIsensors plugin from fakesmc.kext

How to do that?

I only installed fakeSMC.kext into S/L/E. I also show content of fakeSMC.kext but not found ACPIsensors

Thank you.

Do you try to put fakesmc in EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other rather than S/L/E? Do you try to press F11 in Clover GUI?
