[pre-release] macOS Mojave

I just updated to beta 2 with no problems. Lots of noticeable improvements. It would NOT update with all my drives connected, so I removed all except the Mojave SSD M.2 drive and the update went flawlessly.

I seem to have lost Bluetooth upon installation of Beta 2.  Now, neither BrcmPatchRam2.kext nor BrcmFirmwareData.kext load whether I put them in Clover/kexts/10.14 or Clover/kexts/Other.  Anyone else have these kexts loaded?

No need.  I got them to load by installing them in L/E.  I guess Clover updates will take care of this in time.

Did you try with fakecpuid???

No I haven't but I did use MacPro6,1 SMBIOS, the problem is rather curious, the installation goes through no KP, no reboot but it fails to load the GPU and the display goes black.

I had the same issue with High Sierra, I must say I don't care about installing Mojave on that system because I don't use it anymore, I was testing something with @ricoc90

in addition to Mojave beta 2 running fine on my Optiplex 790, it's also running smooth on my Surface Pro and HP Probook ^_^

Hmm, Odd thing happened with Beta 2, almost 90% of the screen tearing is gone. using a GTX 660 except when really pushing metal via something like GFX Medal Benchmark. then the tearing only shows up with advanced medal 2 function tests...

its almost like they haven't fully optimized Medal and the drivers that go with it to allow for acceleration.

it's hands down better then it was, but still needs improvement.

Fine

New port limit patch needed!

Also Dp audio is not working anymore

How's the performance of the GPU? do you have acceleration? I haven't tested Mojave on my 1070 yet, does it worth the hassle or should I wait for the first official release and the official nvidia web drivers?

Hey man,

I was wondering, since you have a GTX 660, do you also have any issues opening up certain images with Quick Look and Preview? Doesn't happen for screenshots and live photos, but it does happen for images like wallpapers and stuff. Also, it does not occur with the iGPU.

It seems worst than before

no acceleration

only the chance to have two monitors connected at right resolutions

performance is poor

I have a fully working Mojave 10.14 DP2 installed and running (Fresh Install). The only thing not working is Nvidia GUI acceleration and HDMI Audio. However, HDMI Audio works correctly if I use the AppleHDA.kext from High Sierra 10.13.3 and install it in S/L/E. Even 10GBE Aquantia works with new kext patch. No USB patches are required for my motherboard and all ports are working as they should.

Without GUI acceleration, it is useless to use with any Nvidia Card.

I can test the preview. Send me the files that you have problem with if you can and I'll test them on my rig.

I already tested some files with @arsradu

Re-attaching files for testing Quick Look and Preview (dedicated GPUs ONLY).

Screenshot of the image works. The original image does not. So....could be that it doesn't open jpg but it does open png...

I also converted the original photo into png, to have consistent results.

Steps to test (with both Quick Look and Preview):

  • Open the screenshot
  • Open the png file (test.png)
  • Open the original jpg file (test.jpg)
  • Try to open the screenshot or test.png version again, and see if you can still open any of them.
  • Write down the results.

I still get no point with this issue. So, is your problem with QuickLook or Preview.app?

Both. Slightly different behaviour, probably the same cause, but both. Quick Look displays an endless loading animation. Preview doesn't even open (application not responding).

And so far...looks like Crusher was right. It does open png. It doesn't open jpg. And also, once you opened the jpg, it won't open the pngs anymore until the next reboot.

I don't experience any issues whatsoever opening them.

Just did the test, no issue here. From SS below, front is Preview.app, the back one is QuickLook. Have you tried disabling metal support with NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext (test) and see the difference? (I forgot the bootarg, sorry).

#EDIT: Tested using Nvidia GeForce GT 520M (Fermi GF119), Discrete GPU.

#EDIT2: Bootarg "ngfxgl=1" to disable metal support (plus "-ngfxbeta).

Hi

1 - I can't no more sign in to insanelymac forum since Mojave Beta 2/ Safari 12-----> error 404 when I want to sign

2 - Apple update appleAHCI kext form 329.50 to 329.200 ------> High Sierra's Hot-Plug patch work but slowly

3 - Sound effect: no more sound for empty trash since Beta 2

Any ideas, please

Thanks
