PascalW
Hello, recently I've installed the ATI ata fix which is located at the JaS 10.4.7 dvd. I've installed it trough pacifist, but now when I boot up the appleonboardPCATA.kext isn't loaded. But when I remove the kextcache and reboot it is being loaded. How can I make it boot always without having to delete the kextcache everytime before I boot? Thnx in advance! neoo
try to delete \System\Library\Extensions\IOATAFamily.kext\Contents\PlugIns\AppleGenericPCATA.kext, then copy AppleVIAATA.kext to \System\Library\Extensions\IOATAFamily.kext\Contents\PlugIns\, repaire permissions, delete kextcache and then reboot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33400-ati-ata-kext-only-loads-at-boot-when-kextcache-is-deleted/#findComment-236246 Share on other sites
kwha
PascalW In Your case, You must copy modified(ATI) AppleOnbordPCATA.kext to \System\Library\Extensions\IOATAFamily.kext\Contents\PlugIns\, You must make sure You don't have any AppleGenericPCATA.kext or Original AppleOnboardPCATA.kext in your \System\Library\Extensions\ or \System\Library\Extensions\IOATAFamily.kext\Contents\PlugIns\ folder. It is caused by loading AppleGenericPCATA.kext instead of AppleOnboardPCATA.kext Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33400-ati-ata-kext-only-loads-at-boot-when-kextcache-is-deleted/#findComment-236343 Share on other sites

Kaspers
Try to boot everytime with -f. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33400-ati-ata-kext-only-loads-at-boot-when-kextcache-is-deleted/#findComment-248284 Share on other sites
bside
Try to boot everytime with -f. This works. After a couple of boots with "-f" my system now always boots renewing its kextcache (why? strange!). Sad that this takes a bit more time to boot.
