GingerPrince
It´s in 'pause' mode, I can´t help you more with it right now.... sorry. If it´s hard for me ( and that´s why it´s not working yet) it´s even harder to explain to you what my Martian brain thinks, there´s no human fool proof translation. ok. I've been working as a software developer for a long time though now, and have spent 2-3 years developing device drivers so I pick things up pretty quick if you have the time. gotoh
Hi Taruga, I've tried the beta 861 on my laptop (previously working audio output with Azalia) no outpu is detected with the beta. it's 8086,27d8 (in IORegistryExplorer) Codec: Realtek ALC861-VD Address: 0 Vendor Id: 0x10ec0862 Subsystem Id: 0x1179010c Revision Id: 0x100001 and here is my linux codec dump if it can help you in your research... now back to azalia and medium sound quality (still better than nothing )
cabegol
Question for TARUGA (or anyone willing to help!), First of all, thanks for all of your hard work! AWESOME! My question is concerning ALC883, many users like me (mostly on ACER's), are having problems with configuration of the input/outputs, etc. I've made a linux codec dump and with your 1.16 patcher it work's almost flawessly: mic input, line in input, headphones out but NO internal speakers. If I use the Skippyretard ALC883 package and choose 6 analog outs, the sound comes out from the internal speakers. Can you help me find the way to change the information in my codec dump to make the internal speakers work? With that we'll have a 100% working ALC883 for ACER notebooks! Thanks a lot for your help! I'm including the codec dump from ubuntu, ACER 5570z-2977 with ALC883 (3 ports on the front, SPDIF out). alc883gb.txt

clockworx
Just out of curiousity...(if Taruga or another programmer doesn't mind answering) What is it that prevents this process from being fully automated? I tried to drag the 862 codec dump onto the AppleHDA patcher, but it says it doesn't recognize it. From reading the AppleHDA patcher guide it seems like it should be possible to automate, so I was curious.....is it a straightforward process with set rules, or does every different card have some nuance that requires human intervention at the end to tweak it so things work. I'm used to writing perl scripts to do such tasks (carry changes from one format file to another base on a set of rules), so I'm curious if I have the concept of how this works entirely wrong. This isn't meant to be a complaint, I'm just naturally curious and was hoping to gain some insight into how this works.

Myzrael
I can confirm it works on the Sony VAIO 31FM (with 9255 codec if I'm correct). Only "problem" is that I have to manually switch over to my headset but that's no problem at all. Some really good work and I'm happy I got this fixed now. natoodo
QUOTE(natoodo @ Aug 31 2007, 02:25 AM) After doing a reinstall of os 10.4.9 i of course lost my sound so I went into my ubuntu live cd and got my audio codec dump. I have attached the dump file. well i dragged the file into AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16 and it seemed to work fine but after a reboot.....no audio. I am sure this is the same thing i did before but this time it did not work. any suggestions?1st option -Check if ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext are in /System/Library/Extensions/ (they should be)2nd option - Delete both ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext and then re-apply the patch3rd option - if still doesn´t work, do in console terminal: ioreg -lw0 > /myioreg.txt and send me the file 'myioreg.txt' that was created on your disk by the previous command. That will help me understand what´s the problem Thanks for your help Taruga, i tried the first method by deleting the applehda.kext and ALCinject.kext and redoing the patch but still.....nothing. I did the terminal dump and have attached the file. Thanks for any furthur help you can provide. myioreg.txt

flama
861 support is not complete yet for some models, and it´s not in the PatcherYou have to use the beta4some861_880models.zip available at post #1 or here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=14269 If it doesn´t work after copying the kext´s to the extensions folder, then send me an ioreg dump from your system with the following command: ioreg -lw0 > myioreg.txt And then send me the myioreg.txt that was created on the disk by the above command Iintel 915GAVL + Realtek ALC880/ICH6 EDIT: Mic-in, Line-in, Output, Volume slider works! Great work. Many thanks!

:: Valdemar ::
i didn't find any dump for the chipset, thats the reason why i posted my question. i only found some for windows ... it should be the Realtek 862 High Definition Audio.i don't have any clue how to create a dump in linux (i never used linux yet).. seems that i just have to wait if someone got the same chipset indeed, we have the same audio hardware, (or chipset) and still im looking for that codec, tried many times to load the 'dump' in different ways but i got nothing, i still trying to load via Sabayon, but no luck, also i found a website http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/chipset_intel_hda_realtek that says that they can 'configure the sound driver' via ubuntu, if this is truth, then i have to move to ubuntu first, make the 'dump' and go to OS X Uphuck 1.4i again and try again with this dump.... but, before that, im looking for other alternatives that makes my life easier. In fact, im not so good coding in linux, so im trying to learn a lot of material at the same time, (even more difficult yet). Anyway, all you people will be notified about after this situation. Cheers.I have a dump of the 862 codec, if that helps at all. I've been reading the guide and getting into translating the nodes, but I needed a break.Anyways, here it isNice work Clockworx, but tell me something, is your chipset ICH-7M? because i got a laptop and i dont knok if this codec will work with my machine. thanx for your helpYou don´t have alc861 but alc862 , I will see what I can doTry version 1.15 to see if gives the same result, and send me the ioreg dumpwell, we got the same problem, Taruga, we're waiting for your time and knowledge. thanx for your support. justvisiting
indeed, we have the same audio hardware, (or chipset) and still im looking for that codec, tried many times to load the 'dump' in different ways but i got nothing... if you have a USB stick and a ubuntu/kubuntu live cd (others may work, this is an example) 1) put the usb stick into the PC and boot Linux off the live cd 2) once its booted, open a terminal or command prompt as root 3) cd /proc/asound there will probably be a directory here called "card0" (eg) 4) cd card0 5) there will be a file here called "codec"something or other, eg. codec#2 6) this is a text file, you can type 'cat codec#2' and see text 7) save text file to usb stick: 'cat codec#2 >/media/kingston' (based on where your USB stick is mounted) quit, reboot into osx, etc etc from memory, so you may need to explore some. forge
HI apologies for the Noob question but I'm trying to follow this thread but I really cant figure out how to find out what my soundcard is it's a HP Pavillion dv2308tx notebook the HP site tells me the chipset is the mobile Intel 945 Express and Belarc tells me the main circuit board is: Wistron 30B3 61.58 I dont know if that helps but I just cant see anywhere what the soundcard is - device manager just tells me "High definition Audio" I have the Uphuck 10.4.9 1.4i version and the sound came out of the speakers on first install, but the headphone jack doesnt work - that's all I actually want cheers
