check the linux dumps at the link posted in the beginning of this topic. see if a txt dump for your chipset is there. you need to find out the model name and number using those ids, just google it. then download the dump and the hda patcher. download the hda driver package, install the pkg, and drag and drop the dump onto the patcher icon. if there no dump either run a linux live cd and create one, insturctions are on here, or request that someone with the same chipset give you their drivers.

Hi, my laptop is using this Realtek HDA Audio ALC262 with (Vendor: 10ec; Device: 0262).

Have anyone have luck with this sound device?

I've been trying to use patch v1.15, but nothing come out of the speakers or headphone.

Hi you guys,

we're trying to get to some results on ALC660/861 on the thread ALC660.

lots of people with ALC660/861 + Asus F3Jc are experiencing a lot of dificulty with this particular soundcard.

It is similar to the hardware used on other systems that work with 2 channels, but, when used with Asus F3Jc it remais completely silent, and without output controls.

 

Why don't you go there and share your experience with this soundchip? It could help.

Speaker out and mic works, havent tested digital out since its coaxial...

cat /proc/asound/Intel/codec#0 > /tmp/alc883.txt

I have an HP dv2308tx (dv2000 series) and all the sound card says is "High Definition Audio"

 

how do I know what it is and whether there is a driver around for it?

For Intel ICH9 chipsets remember to add DevID to these files

ALCInject.kext/Contents/Info.plist

AppleHDA.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleHDAController.kext/Contents/Info.plist

 

0x293e8086 is the one to add.

Before I tried to make a dump in Ubuntu 7.04 but wasn't recognised by the HDA patcher.

 

Also thanks for the info about adding the device id to the ALCInject.kext etc

I now have a 100% working system

There are some audio codecs more difficult than others that I need to test in pc with those specs to get any further.

Once I had a few minutes to play with AD1986A (i think) and I managed to get sound output, but didn´t had time inputs and the rest to work.

After doing a reinstall of os 10.4.9 i of course lost my sound so I went into my ubuntu live cd and got my audio codec dump. I have attached the dump file. well i dragged the file into AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16 and it seemed to work fine but after a reboot.....no audio. I am sure this is the same thing i did before but this time it did not work. any suggestions?

Nice!  Gives me audio but with ups and downs.. Still have choppy audio, but I'm thinking it's hardware limitations..

 

The problems:

At the Starting Mac OS X screen and beyond, I will hear a popping sound every 4 seconds, but if I change the volume, it's fine again.

It says No built-in audio under System Profiler.. dunno if that has any meaning or not..  Always said that to me though..

I do see internal microphone and digital out / line out now though  No "Headphone" or "Internal Speakers" like the pics in orig. post even though i'm on a laptop with those.

 

Dunno if the whole.. choppy audio thing is a hardware limitation problem..  maybe because I have SSE2 only?

I just got 10.4.8 to work on my latitude with a sigmatel 9200, but the patcher KP's every time I try putting the code in there. "about this mac" says I'm at kernal 8.8.1, so I don't know where I'm going wrong.

1st option -Check if ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext are in /System/Library/Extensions/ (they should be)2nd option - Delete both ALCinject.kext and AppleHDA.kext and then re-apply the patch3rd option - if still doesn´t work, do in console terminal: ioreg -lw0 > /myioreg.txt and send me the file 'myioreg.txt' that was created on your disk by the previous command. That will help me understand what´s the problem

Maybe, and maybe you have a bad kernel or you are running a kernel with the wrong fsb

Try to use other 'mach_kernel'. That happens with some kernel versions, so you need to replace it with other. It was already told at this topic several times.

I didn´t made any config for Headphones (yet) ... that shouldn´t be a problem. Internal Speaker or Line Out it´s just a Codec Verb cosmetic feature, no big deal. I can change it. I usually do, because in my setup, I have Internal Speaker for the main output, because I also have a Line Out that I use a lot and I don´t like to be confused of having 2 line out's.Funny that it worked with you, I´ve made this one for a Realtek 861, but I don´t know why, it shows up as 880 in OS X. So, I thought it could also work with 880. I´m working at the moment with 2 very different versions of Realtek 861.

thanks for the reply. I'm still not clear where things are at with the 1988B. I'm guessing that it doesn't work and needs more work. Can I help with that? Can you give me a few pointers and I'll try to get it working on my machine?
