For those who asked how to get a Linux Dump there is a good description here: http://neonkoala.co.uk/content/view/43/34/ ...

Now I am still in DESPERATION to get my ALC883 on ICH7 Intel945GM chipset working. I am running Uphucks 10.4.9 on a Mitac Barebone Laptop.

I have tried a number of the available 883 dumps here, all ports get recognized, but not a peep comes out of the damn machine.

So I tried doing a linux dump of my own, using Knoppix, but not even Knoppix could recognize my card (wrong kernel or ALSO driver?) so hence NO codec dump was possible.

So I have come to a dead end, any hints?

Ahhh I just saw the post about dragonfly's tool, maybe I'll give that a try, but nevertheless... all advice would be appreciated!

regards,

n.m.

unfortunately that disabled all audio. changing it back brought back everything the way it was, but still no headphones. I appreciate your help greatly ;)

Ops, my mistake, try 21 instead of 15

Thank you SO much, that worked great! I get speakers when set to "internal speakers" and I get headphones when set to "Internal line out". It used to be called headphones, but whatever, I don't care what it's called, I GET SOUND :P

Thanks again ;)

First off, like many in this thread, I would like to thank you, Taruga, for your immeasurable efforts to getting our sound working. Since your name is close enough to Japanese, I will name my first child after you.

Okay, maybe my second. Wife is picky and all.

Now, to my very n00b-ish post. Like roneil4, I have the sound working fine using 1.16 HDAPatcher and the Sigmatel 9220 dump. However, when I plug my headphones in, the speakers remain active. Kind of hinders my ability to watch porn in private when the speakers are blaring at full volume. Well I couldn't care less but my neighbours are starting to get annoyed.

After scouring 15 pages or so, I don't seem to have found a fix. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

Isn't this the case for everyone? This happens to everyone as far as I know. Just shut-off the large speakers.

Well unforunately the speakers are integrated into my laptop. And no matter which kernel dump I use, I don't get separate controls for both speakers and headphones.

Hey Valdemar, the link works over here in Europa...here it is again:

http://neonkoala.co.uk/content/view/43/34/

but anyway CHECK POST 1993 on the previous page, there are similar instructions there!

And now, can any linux-nerds tell me how to get even linux to recognize my ALC883... 'cause I can't even get a codec-dump out of Knoppixx since the driver/kernel doesn't want to talk to the ALC883... help!

ninetto

Hello !

I tried dumping the codec#0 file under Linux (tried PCLinux, DSL, Ubuntu, Mandriva) but i only got a file with AC97 which is different.

Does the ALC850 need a other method?? Thanx for any advice..

I am using a MSI Neo-3 945p Mainboard with onboard Realtek ALC850

i recommend you to give it a try to another distros, i got knoppix, ubuntu 7, sabayon (excelent, by the way), gentoo, dragonflybsd, suselinux, mandriva, at least one must recognize your sound hardware. in my case, everything works but sound and Wireless neither.. cheers..

sorry normally i would search through the thread to find my answer, but as this one is 102 pages long its a little time consuming. SO i am a little confused. i found the right linux dump, but whenever i drag the .txt file over to the patcher it does nothing, am i missing something?

Hi Folks,

I just want to report my partially success with this AppleHDA-Patcher.

I installed the Uphuck 1.4i (intel only) on my Asrock 4Core-DUAL VSTA with an ALC888 on board.

The ALC888.txt -Dump worked for me, even the SPDIF-Out works, but unfortunately without having surround-sound.

No AC3/5.1 sound possible :-(( Even with the Midi-App there is no possibility to setup 5.1

Beside that sound works fine. Thanx a lot for this great work !!

Has anyone got 5.1 through SPDIF-Out working ?

Cheers,

Udo

My hardware:

Asrock 4Core-DUAL VSTA

Intel E4400

NVidia 6200

R1000 Ethernet

ALC888 7.1 HD-Audio

MS Wireless Desktop (keyboard/mouse)
