Google for DaemonES' kernel, install, and repatch. Guaranteed to work everytime.

tried the ALC882 Sound Fix v0.4b from the first post, there are loud "POPS" entering and leaving OSX. is that normal? or am i suppose to tweak the drivers?

okay i asked this before but i guess my post got lost and i didn't get an answer. i installed the ALC882 Sound Fix v0.4b since i have the same mobo. but do i have use the AppleHDA Patcher to get better results? i uninstalled the AppleHDA and use AppleAzaliaAudio method since i was getting very loud annoying pops. seems to be when the OS initializes the sound or something.

Hey Taruga,

First of all, thanks for all of your hard work.

I've tried a few versions of your patcher and they have given me sound (comes out of internal speaker and phones simultaneously), which I really appreciate.

They didn't fix my mic, but after reading your post about different versions of the STAC9200, I noticed that the patcher had mapped my mic node to 0x0f, where there was nothing at. I re-mapped it to 0x10 (which is where my codec stated my mic was at) in the AppleHDA Info.plist, deleted the cache, repaired permissions and now I've got mic!!! That's awesome.

So, my final task is to fix the speaker vs. headphone problem so that sounds don't get sent to them both simultaneously. Can you suggest a place for me to start? What's typically the cause of this? I noticed in my codec dump that my phones are at node 0x0d and my internal speaker is at 0x0e, yet the patcher doesn't seem to use either of these.

Thanks for any suggestions and thanks again for all that you're doing.

since they share the same dac (speaker and headphone), even if i used an headphone entry, there would be some problems with it. Made a test with some user and the results were not good. Maybe I or other user find a solution to that, because for me it´s not easy because I don´t have any way to try on it until a positive result. I don´t know at the moment what to do regarding that issue, but maybe I get a solution soon when I read again the codec datasheet. At the moment I´m busy making some huge changes to sigmatel users to fix the node remaps and solve the input problems

My mic originally worked with a downloaded STAC9200 codec and patcher v1.11 (showed up as "unknown" but it worked). I then tried patcher 1.13 and it stopped working. No matter what I did (various codecs, patchers, installs), I couldn't get the mic working again, even with my own codec dump. Made the same changes you suggested (my codec has same location for mic as yours) to my kext and got my mic back (this time shows as internal microphone) !! For those trying to fix this make sure you search for the decimal and not the hex values in info.plist.

Anyone get mute or sound effects working ... this method or other ... ?

Good to hear. Hopefully we can get these 9200's solved. I'm 99% happy with it now that I've got speaker and mic (thanks to Taruga). I think I'll continue to play with it, though, and see if I can get the phones separate from the internal speakers.

Thanks for replying. I understand what you're saying. I'm going to keep trying things and we'll see what happens!

That would be your codec :thumbsup_anim:

Drag that dump into the 1.13 patcher on desktop.

I tried that, it just doesnt show any status in the 1.13 patcher (I drag the file, authenticate, and it immediately forces me to reboot... it locks me into a reboot infact) When I then restart my computer, OSX still does not see my sound card.

Could it have something to do with this error I have been getting since install: The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntel915.kext“ was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update.

Something must be messed up, 1.10b - 1.13 have all worked for me and I have booted with most of the kernels except Jan.10 :thumbsup_anim:

Try booting to safe mode and do it again.

The 915 errors is because you don't need those extensions and they are being read into boot, you can delete the 915 kexts and you wont get the error anymore :)

It is still doing that "forced" reboot, it kind of fades out the screen to dark and puts focus on the window and says to reboot or hold down the power button... in 4 or so languages

I tried in safemode with 1.13 and 1.11 . Would attaching your kext and having me install that directly (and repairing permissions) work?

I don't mean to be rude but did you even read this thread before you decided to post? This has been covered at least five times by now. In fact, if you look at the last 5 pages, you'll probably see that this question has been answered (again and again) on all of them.

Maybe it's just MY pet peeve but I don't understand why people can't read the thread they're posting in.
