asapreta
In my P5WD2 Premium I only got ALERT sounds, other sounds (Itunes, etc.) doesn't work. Mic didn't work either, even in the front ports (configured as AC'97). Are you getting errors on boot about Azalia? Go to Terminal and type: sudo dmesgLook for errors. If you do see errors, you might need to fix the permissions on Azalia. Go to Terminal and type: cd /System/Library/Extensions sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleAzaliaAudio.kext sudo chmod -R 755 AppleAzaliaAudio.kext diskutil repairpermissions / cd /System/Library sudo rm -rf Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache Then reboot. Did you try it?
iMäcen
I tried on my ALC850, but I still only get Line out. I am willing to test more releases in the future.

alicheusz
i have alc861. it works with azelia and device id from alc882*(didn't work with device id from 861). tried this kext didn't work. How can I make it work for alc861? I also try with 861 but don't work for me too. I try few setup mix with device id I change it from 882 to 880 (Azlilia has 880 and it worked with 861) change in all kext PCIMatch to match ICH 6 <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0x27D88086</string> to <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0x26688086</string> maybe 861 use some different layout id
Taruga
alicheusz, if you want to test with other than alc882, you have to hex edit AppleHDA binary, because it´s locked with 10ec0882 (codec id 283904130)

plas
alicheusz, if you want to test with other than alc882, you have to hex edit AppleHDA binary, because it´s locked with 10ec0882 (codec id 283904130) Any chance you could tell us where this change needs to happen within the binary. Or should i just search for 10ec0882 I really would like to get sound working with alc861 ive tried ever method so far with other kexts (Azalia) with no luck. Atmosfear
Thank you, this really came just in time! (was about to get external soundcard) It partially works for me on ABit AW9D-MAX with ALC882 PCIeX1 daughterboard. System settings show Microphone as output aswell as LineOut and Digital-Out and internal Microphone for input. Line Out and Digital Out work fine, even AC3 streaming from DVD-Player and VLC. However the Microphone Input is working on none of the jacks (front and rear). The card features 7.1 analog out, Mic-In, Analog/Digital combined Line In and Digital Output aswell as front panel Headphone/Mic In jacks (currently connected to AC97 style front panel w/o jack sensing). If you need any info from me to improve support on this card please tell me, what to do.

alicheusz
alicheusz, if you want to test with other than alc882, you have to hex edit AppleHDA binary, because it´s locked with 10ec0882 (codec id 283904130) that's odd, I change 283904130 to283904128 in info.plist (I don't remember in with kext I am on win box now) but I search in all info.plist from ALCIncject, AppleHDA.kext and in this one was another *HDA*.kext and change all 283904130 to 283904128, and ICH from 0x27D88086 to 0x26688086 I try some kext combination and different info.plist configuration, everything looks logical but just don't work thanks for advice I will search for this later
Taruga
As I said... AppleHDA binary is locked to 10ec0882 (codec id 283904130), yours it´s 10ec0880 (codec id 283904128). It work work without patching binary, and even doing that, nothing is certain that it will work as it wasn´t tested yet. PM me if you want to get this working with your board
MacMartin
What did I do wrong? I installed the package from the startpost, without luck. After rebooting just a kernel panic: "Hold the power button to reboot... " EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm using the Myzar 10.4.6 with JaS updates to 10.4.7 and 10.4.8. I use an Asus P5W DH Deluxe with an Intel D805 core, which is recognized as SSE2 CPU in OSX.
Taruga
If whats causing your problem is AppleHDA.kext, then just delete it. I don´t know exactly what you´re running neither what you´re done. Try booting with -s or using an OSX DVD to go into console mode.
MacMartin
I gues AppleHDA should be the problem. I checked for AppleAzalia, but wasn't there so I ran the installer, repaired permissions to make sure and rebooted. I'll give it a try to remove the AppleHDA later this evening. ~Neo
Don't worry, I´ll release a test version for alc880 in the next 6 hours Yeah but a "tutorial" would be cool for non 882 or 880 users! I want to test it with 888 but I can't find "10 EC 08 82" or "10 EC 08 85" in the binary! cYa

dingnecros
Thanks for this driver previously I only had sound output with default AppleHDA driver on the Jas 10.4.8 dvd. But mow I have MIC input and sounmd out put both working on my ALC 882 based on board audio. My board is a Gigabyte 8I945P-G so bascially I have everything working on my board Ethernet, audio, sata my nvidia card all thats left is full multichannel 5.1 output. Thanks a lot. Now if only this was avialable for my sigmatel 9200 based laptop my e1405 would be perfect macbook
