Although painting myself as an absolute moron, I fear I need to ask anyway.

I have an Inspiron630m running

Mobile Intel 915 GM Express with a Sigmatel STAC9200.

IDeneb 10.5.6 has installed and runs, but no sound card is available or detected.

I've read that this HDA patcher is the solution, however I have no idea what the heck I'm meant to be doing. From what I can tell I need to install Ubuntu on the laptop I want to run OSX, run the patcher on that? Do some magic and take the resulting file back to OSX?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Jibber

Thanks mate, I'll give it a whirl. However, posts around "how does this work" don't seem to be answered there., on that voodoo forum. Where can I find some resources on what needs done?

Cheers,

Jibber.

Hello.

I'm trying this on an Acer Aspire 5920

00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:284b] (rev 03)
Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Aspire 5920G [1025:0121]
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 22
Memory at f0500000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable)
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [60] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: [70] Express Root Complex Integrated Endpoint, MSI 00
Capabilities: [100] #8086

Using Azalia kext, output works fine, but no input.

Using HDA Patcher with codec dump from Linux, output works fine in headphones, but no audio from internal speakers (yes, I selected the correct output in preferences panel).

Any hints on this?

Thanks.

I just booted Ubuntu to get a codec dump for my audio chipset. Installed AppleHDAPatcher 1.20, loaded it up, rebooted and there's no devices showing in Sound. System profiler is showing this:

sysprof.png

And this is what the patcher reports:

* Patching AppleHDA.kext to 0x10ec0888				Done
* Checking AppleHDA for patch Done
0001f4a0	cmpl	$0x10ec0888,%eax
00020584	cmpl	$0x10ec0888,%eax
* Checking for SPDIF Out Detected
* Checking for SPDIF In Detected
* Using the following nodes in pathmap

 Back Mic: 9 34 24
Line In  : 8 35 26
Speaker  : 20 12 2
Headphone: 27 38 37
Spdif In : 10 31
Spdif Out: 30 6

* Copying new config to destination Done
* Repairing Permissions								Done
* Deleting Extensions Cache								Done

** Done patching - You can reboot now **

I can only assume I need HDAEnabler.kext, but where do I get that? Is it hardware specific? I noticed ACLInject in my System/Library/Extensions folder which I thought was HDAEnabler's predecessor. Help!

Is there any chance of getting sound to work on Kalway Leopard 10.5.2 ?

Motherboard is Intel S975XBX2

Install was done with Kalway Leo 10.5.2 with no updates, everything

but sound is working, installed with Vanila Kernel option , unchecked

everything else.

I am not sure that it matters but this board is very simular to the

original D975BX2 however mines the Server board, but from what

i can tell there is no real difference .

I have tried a hundred different means and I can't get sound working :(

I have tried AppleHDAPatcher v1.16 with STAC9274D_83847621

as stated for the original Intel Bax Axe2, I don't know why it won't work

so please help :)

Thanks,
