I have a Lenovo N100 as well and got the audio working (with no volume control unfortunately... but hey, it's audio) with ALCInject.kext . I forget which codec it is exactly but that can be found out pretty easy. Search the forums and you'll come across it pretty easy. I'd give you more details but unfortunately I'm in a hurry now. If you don't have any luck PM me and I'll point you in the right direction later. Good luck!

@Stellarolla: How did you get your sound to stay once the dump was done? I used V1.20 and the linux dump I created. As soon as I did it, my sound icon showed up. I repaired permissions, rebooted, and no more audio. What did I do wrong.

In order to get this to hopefully work again, I removed the ALCinject and appleHDA kexts.

After I did the above, sound shows back up again. I am definitely confused.

Taruga:

I'm using an Intel D975XBX2 with SigmaTel STAC9247D (that's what the manual says), is this the same as STAC9274D? I tried using the AppleHDAPatcher with the 9274D codec, but it said I had an "unsupported codec." Could you please tell me where I can get the codec I need or if you could walk me through how to do this? I'm desperate! Please message me back...

I've spent the last few hours searching and going through countless threads here trying to find a way to get my hackintosh (dell 8400 running kalyway 10.5.2) to have sound enabled. I've tried getting codec dumps from both Ubuntu (edgey) and Knoppix 5.1, but my /proc/asound dumps look like this, though a few of the numbers/descriptions may change.

knoppix@Knoppix:~$ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec97#0/ac97#0-0

0-0/0: SigmaTel STAC9750,51

PCI Subsys Vendor: 0x0000

PCI Subsys Device: 0x0000

Capabilities : -headphone out-

DAC resolution : 20-bit

ADC resolution : 20-bit

3D enhancement : SigmaTel 3D Enhancement

Current setup

Mic gain : +0dB [+0dB]

POP path : pre 3D

Sim. stereo : off

3D enhancement : off

Loudness : off

Mono output : MIX

Mic select : Mic1

ADC/DAC loopback : off

Extended ID : codec=0 rev=1 AMAP DSA=0 SPDIF VRA

Extended status : SPCV SPDIF=7/8

PCM front DAC : 48000Hz

PCM ADC : 48000Hz

SPDIF Control : Consumer PCM Copyright Category=0x0 Generation=0 Rate=48kHz

There are of course a few deviations depending on whether I'm doing card0, card1, or card2, and while I'm in Knoppix or Ubuntu I have sound, but my output doesn't look anything like that of every other codec dump I've seen.

Is this behaviour indicative of Dell's earlier systems, or something else? I'm really running an Audigy ZS 2, but I have onboard sound, and ensured that it was enabled from within my BIOS.

If anyone could shed any light on what else I could possibly try so that I can use the HDA patcher, I would be much obliged.

I did notice while Knoppix was starting that it said it found an unidentified sound card, 0556:0001. I'm guessing those were the vendor/device IDs, right?

I've tried a few different SigmaTel dumps to write to a new kext, but to no avail.

I thought I wasn't a noob, but now I'm not quite so sure! :(

Thank you in advance if you can help.

Cheers,

Teka

I have a dell inspiron 6400 and as i install the taruga patch for sigmatel 92xx on my laptop i get kernel panic when i shut down on battery and have to press the power button to shut down.

Any suggestion? I have kalyway 10.5.1 with vanilla kernel efi mbr. It's very strange because it does it only when i shut down in battery not when ac is plugged.

Thanx for the help.

It would seem ALL versions of Taruga's patcher **AFTER** 1.16 are **SCREWED** when it comes to the Intel Bad Axe 2 mobo (STAC9274D). This has come up quite a few times in this message thread but nothing was ever done to rectify the problem (not that I've been able to find anyway)... The only solution that worked for me is to download v1.16 (download link available on 1st page of this thread) -- it is working for me and my 10.5.2 booted system...

Hope this helps

Dave

I told you already this was a know problem and we don't have a complete solution yet.

Try with v1.13, reboot, do with v1.2, reboot, and may appear in afew seconds after booting.

Hi!

I have an issue with sound. I don't know how to fix it!

Info first :

MB 945gnt

P P4 630

OSX 10.5.2 (ToH 10.5 than netkas guide update to 10.5.2, than graphic update)

sound:sigmatel. AppleHDA.kext from 10.5.2. Pclinuxos cat gives 9221 a1 dump, Knopix gives same (does not say 9221 a1 but generic though) It does not work with any of Taruga's hda patchers.

No sound at all!

But, when I install Sigmatel9220Audio.Support.pkg, repair permissions and reboot I get the sound like I used to have on Tiger. Blue port sound out. Mic works great from pink port. UPON REBOOT I GET NO SOUND AGAIN. If I install Sigmatel9220Audio.Support.pkg again then repair permissions reboot I do have sound again. And on and on... I DO NOT GET sound every other reboot after successful instalation of Sigmatel9220Audio.Support.pkg. WHAT AM I MISSING?

I just wander if I should add some lines to com.apple.boot.plist Seems like sound chip is initialized and then after second reboot is not. And then I have to install kexts again. I am kind of confused. I have never had this kind of problem.!

Thanx in advance! :D

UPDATE:

I have found out that AppleHDA.kext does not load upon restart. How to make it loadable all the time? Even when I load it manually in terminal with kextload -t and then restart, it does not load. It is loaded only after installation of Sigmatel9220Audio.Support.pkg and it works only after ONE restart. Tonight I am downloading UBUNTU just to check if I can get the right sigmatel codec from cat.!!!

I need a beer!

Cheers!

You have in fact sound on your headphones. The thing is, it's just in a very low level. try do connect your external speakers to the output jack, and turn the sound to the max...

Taruga says that problem will, probably, be fixed on V2... Just have to wait

hello,

I'm trying to run my stupid built-in Sigmatel sound card (Dell XPS 420) on 10.5.1

tried different versions of AppleHDAPatcher and different Dump files

nothing seems to make audio works!

in C:\Program Files\SigmaTel\C-Major Audio\

there's a Version.txt file:

Title: Audio: SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio Driver

Version : A04

OEM name : SIGMATEL

OEM Version: 6.10.0.5511

Computers : Dimension: 9100, C521, DM061, DXC061, DXP061, E521; OptiPlex: 740; Precision: 390, 490, 690; XPS: 420, XPS710

any one with similar pc been able to solve this?

any suggestions?

thanks

No dice on 10.5.1 for the Sigmatel 9271 on the Intel DG33TL board. If anybody can find it useful, I've included the linux codec dump. This mess is giving me incentive to learn how to write an audio driver :/ Using the provided kexts from the first post results in an output device but no sound.

Pity, since this was an awesome combo deal. I'm really not too happy about the state of Apple Audio Hardware support (or lack thereof). Then again, with processors these days, you probably don't need dedicated hardware processing for home PC use. I'm currently using the USB dongle that came with my voip headset as a pass-through to my speakers so I can get sound.

@bigdaddyrob2g

yeah I had to use the Natit.kext to get my ATI HD 2600 XT to work,

before that I was getting mosaic-like display!

I read your post about using only sound in EFI...

and tried to copy the com.apple.Boot.plist into LaunchDaemosn(?) and delete the ACLinject.kext then reboot..

nothing happens!

thanks
