Hello All,

I have a Vostro 1400 (which I read is supposed to work flawlessly with it's audio). However, I'm having a lot of trouble - I can't seem to get any audio output at all. I've tried using the AppleHDA patcher (v1.16 and v.1.20) and simply dragging Sigmatel 9228 core dumps to the application. It says that SPDIF In/Out are not detected, then proceeeds to patch, and fails to work. I've made sure AppleAzalia is removed. I've also tried adding the kext on the first post by hand, using the 'kextload' command, to no avail. I can always see the sound bar, and can change the volume, but I can never actually hear anything. Someone please help!!!

Hello, All.

I get audio codec with Ubuntu live cd (in attach) and try patcher 1.20 and have:

AppleHDA Patcher - 2006/2007 by Taruga v1.20

_______________________________________________________

Codec : Analog Devices AD1981

Vendor Id : 0x11d41981

Subsystem Id : 0x11790311

This codec is not working at the moment, it needs more research.

I try HDAudio6.kext for testing and get kernel panic. I disable core multi processing on my bios and can load HDAudio6 driver.

BUT sound not working.

Taruga,

I have a Vostro 1400, but when I try to install "STAC9228_0x083847616", which you said worked for someone who also has a 1400, I can change the volume, but hear no sound. Do you have any tips on what I should do? In particular, what exactly am I supposed to do to install the kexts? Thanks in advance, you've been doing excellent work.

You can use kexthelper to easy install kexts

Post your ioreg dump to take a look: ioreg -lw0 > /ioregdump.txt

It will create a file named ioregdump.txt

Hi, my MoBo is a DP35DP with STAC9271D and my OS is 10.5.2. I tried patcher version 1.18 and 1.20 with the following dump. codec.txt

In patcher output everything looks fine, but there's still no audio output device in system preferences. :hysterical: Here's my ioreg dump too. ioreg.txt

Hope anybody can help.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately using the kexthelper to install the kexts didn't work. Attached is the ioreg file - is there anything wrong? Thanks for the help.

AppleHDAPatcher 1.2 Worked on my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L .. Good job! Didn't even need a reboot! I just heard the whitenoise come in my headphones after about 3 seconds, and was able to play anything just fine.

I used a seemingly random ACL888 dump from the list of Linux codec dumps (link given in first post). Simply used alc888.txt, not the a, b, or d.. Not sure if the others would work or not. But thanks alot! I can't believe how active this particular thread is.

Again, thanks a lot.

I have an intel DQ965GF mobo and have been unable to get my on board sound working. I installed using Kalyway's 10.5.1 and his 10.5.2 update. I was looking around and found a patched AppleHDA.kext and replaced it but my sound still does not work. I'm not sure if I did it properly though. Can someone please point me in the right direction as to which patch I need to use and how to do it? I'm still a noob at this so a lot of this is new to me. Thanks for your help.

Cant Shutdown after HDAPatcher!!!

Dont know if this is a known issue, but I have formated and retried 20x+ and always the same thing. Narrowed it down to the reboot after the Audio install. Want to note that I am setup using MBR loader, not the GUI.

Using HDAPatcher 1.20 and latest Sigmatel 9220,

on 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 or 10.5.2 + 9.2 Kernel.

Shut down and restart works fine before I apply audio. After, if i try to shutdown, the notebook just goes black, display turns off, but the power LED's stay lit and I can still hear the CPU fan running. Have to hold power button to actually turn it off.

Any solutions Taruga or anyone else?

Specs:

(EFI MBR!!!)

Dell m1210

2GHz Core 2 Duo

4GB DDR

nVidia 7400 GO 64MB DDR

160GB

Here is my codec dump below. I have tried the the test HDA/Inject and have no audio though I do see two speakers and stereo mode now but no sound. What are the odds of 7.1 or even 5.1 audio?

I have a Hackintosh that has everything working but the sound on it.

Now back in the 10.4 days this patcher worked for me with my Sigmatel 9227, but it seems now in 10.5.2 it doesn't work.

Also I do have a Radeon HD3850 so I've heard that could be interfering with the sound.

Is there a simple way to make this work reliably that won't screw up my system since it's just about perfect?

I had the same problem with AppleHDAPatcher 1.20. After 1.18 shut down worked again. But still no sound at all.

Exact the same problem. Version 1.18 - shut down works fine but no sound. Version 1.20 - sound but no shut down anymore :-(

Taruga please HELP!
