Hi again, strange I reinstalled the leopard 10.5.1 kalyway, and i have again all working except the sound, i tried patching it with the drivers that worked before, and now they're not working? What's wrong??

I followed this instructions, they worked before..

My sound card is "SOUNDMAX AD1986A" (motherboard is ASUS P5LD2 - SE!)

Remove ALCinject.kext and appleHDA.kext. (this is not included, cause this time I selected no drivers)

Install Original Apple.HDA.kext included here.

Drag "ad1986" on top of AppleHDAPatcherv1.20

So I replaced the applehda with the original that one friend gave me and now it's not working, again it says that the codec is unsupported. I even repaired permissions before that.. and nothing. What do you think is the problem? How did it happen last time, and now it's not working. Wierd :)

Please help!

THANKS

you see that all what I'm looking for! thank you

***UPDATE***

the Tiger 10.4.10 it does not have HDAAudio.kext , and I did test every patch ("ever one of them") for sound but no luck...

m8 You should download a live linux cd Ubantu or something..

If you have sound then get the codec0 from there and use that...

that will be the most likely way to get sound in 10.5 or 10.5.1...

as stated in the first post.. taruga has got it working in 10.5.2 but hasnt released the version 2.0 yet

The SOUND CARD coming with this model of Asus is ALC662 . I have the same myself,

it works with Azalia driver but only 2 channel output, no inputs, but it works perfectly with Taruga's 1.20 patcher and the codec dump I have uploaded for you.

Give it a try, only problem with patcher: No volume control sliders.

:)

Thanks for the ALC662 codec dump. I used it and it works fine. However since I have an wake up from sleep issue with AppleHDA.kext I would like to try the Azzalia on Leopard 10.5.1. Which Azalia have you used on your Leo and do I need the ALCinject for the Azalia.

Thanks

I have a typical question :

Is it possiple to get audio on headset without selecting it manually on system preferences / audio as an output device ?

I mean during I'm listening music on speakers and suddenly I decide to switch on my headset, but there is no sound after I plug my headset, speakers nor headset, so in order to get sound, I have to unplug headset socket or define it as a headset output device on system preferences manually each time. In MS Windows it detects automatically whether there is a socket pluged in headset input or not. So there is no need for an option seperately to define whether it is a speaker or headphone.

I have ALC883 using Skippy's driver on Leopard. Maybe it is not full functional at all.

Or this might be a really mac issue.

Is there anyone who is able to get audio on both ways without selecting what is what every time ?

PSA: When posting codec dump files, you should NOT post the file in .txt format.

Instead, compress & save the codec.txt file in codec.txt.zip format.

Once the file has been downloaded to your Mac Desktop, then de-compress the .zip file to the codec.txt file.

Posting in plain .txt format results in an unusable codec.txt file when used with the HDA Patcher program,

without further editing being required. The HDA Patcher requires codec.txt file be in Linux format. When viewed with a text viewing program, all viewable content of the file should appear as: one single paragraph.

I have tried both of the ALC862 Installers and they did not work; were not detected. When I installed iATKOS, I had sound through my speakers, now, nothing :D How do I get sound working again? How do I figure out which drivers it patched the card with? I just installed Leo 3 days ago so I am an Uber noob, but I catch on pretty quickly :)

I installed the patches by clicking, extracting, and running the installer (this is not a linux codec dump)

rebooted

Verified Permissions

rebooted

Went to system preferences>sound>no device found

I am using a Toshiba A135-4527 and natively through iATKOS, I have full native display, working sound card, and, and working wifi :D

The answer to my next question should be buried under the 188 pages this topic has.... sadly I cannot search inside the topics (just the topic labels)...

I am right ehhh ???

Well I have a Realtek ALC882... so I placed the ALC882.txt linux codec dump into AppleHDA Patcher icon from http://psykopat.free.fr/apple/AppleHDA/ and Sound Works !!! .... BUT ONLY STEREO (2 speakers) ...sadly ;)

So I wonder if anyone can help me to get 5.1 or 7.1 sound that the ALC882 offers.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for your help TARUGA and others !!! you are directly coming from heaven.

How do I create a linux codec dump. I've looked for a while now and I can't figure out how to!! Right now the internal speakers on my Compaq Presario C717NR are the only way I can get sound out. I have a built in mic towards the upper right hand corner that I would love to get working!

Man... I have already given up on full working audio with AD1988B and Leopard.

I don't think anyone will actually make this soundcard work...

I think I'll go back to Windows though I hate doing that.

Any success on desktop alc260 yet?

The patcher didn't do anything with my dump. Do I have to edit anything in it?

ok, did you installed any kext for your sound card? if so you need to download AppleHDAPatch 1.20 and extract the folder but don't open it just drag and drop your code to the patch and wait until you see the message it till you to reboot your mac. reboot your mac and see if you have and sound...

Hi Taruga, first of all, thanks a lot for the great job you're doing!

Second:

I have an HP C6720s notebook with iATKOS Leopard 10.5.1.

Everything working fine but the sound (AD1981HD) and the network.

I wanted to dump the audio codec, but I found 2 on my notebook: the first one was in a folder named CARD0, end the other one in a folder named INTEL.

I dumped and tried to patch them with AppleHDAPatcherv1.20, but no way, none of them works.

I attach both of the files to this post... just in case you'll have time to watch them.

Muito obrigada!

card0.txt

intel.txt
