I am using dell inspiron 1520 and need that sigmatel 9205 codec dump. I have try and use Knooppix and try to run this command on the terminal but unsuccessful.

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 > codec.txt

I also manually check the folder but the codec seems to have 0kb files. So i am wondering if anyone can give me the codec dump. TQ

Here are two codecs for you!

Sorry Taruga. Tested it first thing thing morning. The first kexts didn't work. No sound or volume controls. The second one is great! I finally have sound on my Asus F3JC. You made my day, man!

A friend of mine, with F3JC also, reported sound working. But no sound coming out of the headphones... (same here) but, who cares! We got SOUND!!!!!!!

PS.

Do you think it'll work with ALC861 on Toshiba A100? I got it to work with Azalia. I think it is recognised as an ALC880 or something on linux, but on Toshiba's site it is said to be an ALC861.

We are going over to Paypal. You deserve it!

Thanks!

Taruga: Thanks for your report, I can only improve things if I get reports (good or bad). I don´t have a way of testing as I only have alc882, so you all are my testers. And much has been done until now this way.

JJDuro also reported the same problem with headphones, I will try to fix it later as I have a lot more to do before it.

Do you have mic working ?

As for the Toshiba, if you can try the HDAudio.kext I have on other thread (there are instructions there) it will report the correct vendor and model I need.

Yes, Mic is working real fine. I'll try HDAudio.kext as soon as I get my hands that Toshiba. It's my girlfriends  and she loves it.

Thanks

Here are two codecs for you!

the problem i am facing now is that when i use 1.2 with those codec dump, when i want to restart/shutdown my mac after updating it, kernel panic will appear. so i dont think the update process are complete because of the kernel panic. what i have done is that i try to use 1.20 first. then some post said maybe 1.16 are working.so i tried that also. then i try back 1.20 with the codec dump u gave me but still the same prob. and still no sound. so anyone succed using this codec? please let me know. TQ.

Taruga , I tried it with AzaliaAudio.kext and patched my device id and vendor id.

It works , that means it plays the sound and i have volume control but nothing coming

out of my machine and it does not see audio in sys profiler.

But it is playing the sound. Could it be I have to tell my machine where the PCI is or something?

When I boot with Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon , the same thing happens. everything looks good but no sound out of machine.

Hi Taruga. I am a concern with the new alc861 kext and I haven't gotten a feedback from you yet. so I think it's good for me to mention it again :)

1. When I boot up, I hear loud popping noises from my speaker at the end of the white boot screen (and some afterwards when the desktop loads up) Is there anyway to fix that?

Edited by Taruga
I don´t know why, ask some one with the same codec to see if they have the same issue

Hi,

I recently installed Leopard (Toh) on Asus P5LD2 VM SE, but I can't get sound to work even after applying the ALC882 patch. Should I delete the existing ktext from system/library/extension first?

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

If you are running leopard then you should use the HDAPatcher version 1.17 and 1.18 only. I have the same card and could not get it working. Check this topic:

Hi,

Great work! (really mean it)...

But I can't get sound in/out of my Intel D101GGCL Onboard Realtek ALC861 (Vendor ID: 0x10ec0861 / Device ID: 0x437B1002), and I know that this new driver have to recognize it. I just wondering what went wrong? I doesn't have the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext (like jjduro explains), Is the new driver only for Leopard? (My config now is 10.4.10 / 8.10.1)

Can i have a little help? (Really, you guys make posible all Mac OS x86...)

Thank you.

;)You're the MAN. ;)

Open Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal

ioreg -lw0 > /ioreg861.txt

It will create a file named ioreg861.txt , send me that file to take a look.

Thanx

For ALC268 Users.

I have Acer 4710 Laptop with ALC268 sound chipset. I got it to work under 10.4.8 and 10.4.10 using azalia audio package. I get sound out through speakers and volume control. No audio in and have not tested the jacks.

I too wait to use the ALC268 fully when Taruga comes with a solution.

This is a wonderful app. Thanks!

I got the codec dump via ubuntu and used your patcher. Reboot. Behold everything is listed under "Sound". The only problem is I can't hear any sound from any of the channels. I can increase/decrease volume. Everything seems to be intact but no sound. Could be something simple.

Setup is Kalyway 10.5 on Acer 5920 with ALC883 (ICH8) HDA (but the codec generated via Linux is for ALC888) could this be the problem?

BTW, after installing Kalyway sound was working but only speakers, no digital, no mic, no input. That's the reason for applying this patch.

Thanks! Hope someone can shed some light on this matter.

Taruga:

Thanks so much man, my sound out/in works on leopard, and thanks to you

Got a question though, is there anyway i can get a quadraphonic out? I tried Audio Midi setup and i only could here sound from the four speakers in that app (after creating an aggregate), but at iTunes, QuickTime, VLC, ... i still get sound from the front two speakers only.

I'm willing to donate if it's possible to get a quadraphonic sound out working on leopard :)

PS: I have Realtek ALC888 HD (ICH7)

Please reply soon :D

Thanks again!

What is your motherboard vendor (or notebook) ? Seems it´s working on Asus P5LMX but with some issues to fix (no volume control). But it was reported working line out, headphone on this model. Not tested spdif and inputs

Hi Tagura,

Nice work!! Ill be the first one to say this .. Advanced Merry Christmas!

I have an ALC262 (from my Sony Vaio CR140E/B laptop) and when I tried using the new 1.20 Patcher, I can now use my Headphones.

Two problems though:

1) When I plug-in my headphones (which works) the internal speakers doesnt mute. They both play sound together. I tried to mess up with the Audio properties but still no go. Is there a way to make the headphones work independently? I hope that when I plug in the headphones, the internal speakers should not work. When I unplug it, the internal speakers should work, not both.

2) I don't have mic =( In the INPUT TAB, it doesnt have anything.

Just to inform you, this is how I installed it:

1) Just downloaded the AppleHDAPatcherv1.20 and downloaded ALC262_codec_dump (text file?).

2) I put both files in the desktop, dragged and dropped ALC262_codec_dump to the AppleHDAPatcherv1.20 icon

3) The AppleHDAPatcher1.20 did some amazing stuff (lol) and it asked me to reboot.

4) rebooted, and now I headphones work, but still no mic =)

Did I miss something here? Like delete something first?

Thank you so much!

If you are running leopard then you should use the HDAPatcher version 1.17 and 1.18 only. I have the same card and could not get it working. Check this topic:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=75780

i have try both 1.17 and 1.18 but same result. no sound. yesterday i just install iATKOS v1.0i. When i start the mac, i saw the are HD output in the sound setting. but when i play music, still no sound. So i try again with 1.2 but same result. 1.18 and 1.17 also same result. how do i create my own codec dump? i have Knoppix. but when i boot and follow the procedure i found in the web, my codec dump file is empty. i also checked manually the path and found out that my file is empty. so is there any way to create codec dump for my 9205? how do i check my vendor id? TQ

Hi,

Thank you.

:DYou're the MAN. :D

Taruga: After installing, do the following:

Open Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal

ioreg -lw0 > /ioreg861.txt

It will create a file named ioreg861.txt , send me that file to take a look.

Thanx

The driver works fine, i just post a reply on the report thread that you created for this purpose. Really THANK YOU!.

Wow Thanks Taruga just got sound fully working on Leopard 10.5.1 with my Asus P5KC.

I've attached my Linux Codec Dump, made my dump with Ubuntu 7.10 :D
