I've successfully used AppleHDAPatcher v1.16 with the Intel Audio Update 2007-001 from Apple. Here's how:

  1. Apply Intel Audio Update 2007-001
  2. Show package contents on AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16
  3. Go to Contents/Resources
  4. Copy /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext to AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16/Contents/Resources
  5. Run AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16 with your codec dump as usual.
  6. Edit /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext/Contents/Info.plist
  7. Replace <string>1.2.4a21, Copyright Apple Computer, Inc. 2005-2006</string> with <string>1.3.3a1, Copyright Apple Inc. 2005-2007</string>
  8. Replace <string>1.2.4</string> with <string>1.3.3</string>
  9. Replace <string>1.2.4a21</string> with <string>1.3.3a1</string>
  10. Edit /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleHDAController.kext/Content/Info.plist
  11. Replace the same strings again (steps 7-9)
  12. Repair permissions.
  13. Reboot.

Steps 6-11 are optional, but if you don't do them the audio update will still show up in software update.

Seems ALC262 drivers are only working for Fujitsu laptops?

Is this true. I have a NEC Versa m360 (QUA_KW3) with a Realtek HD Audio chip (ALC262), I would very much like to help with testing. I downloaded the three new ALC262 files from taruga and I get sound only from pc speakers, no line out (headphones), however I get mic in with the alc262test2.zip file. Taruga: what dump files should I send in order to help. Should I send you the Linux codec dump file or anything? Please help.

Taruga: First, thanks for your terrific work!

Like Bluedragon1971, I have a Conexant CX20549 in my HP laptop. I know from your posts that you have looked at trying to support these chips. Can you give us a prognosis, and perhaps more importantly, is there anyway we can help ?

Thanks,

G :(

I got the following error when trying your patcher:

		  AppleHDA Patcher - 2006/2007 Taruga v1.16

Here's my codec dump. If you can get this one working, I'd be eternally grateful.

what's the status with headphone plug muting the internal speakers (STAC9200)?

Hey TJammer: Same boat here. Is there a mic/line in fix yet as well as mine doesn't work yet which would be nice for GarageBand. If so which/how? Would a digital in work and if so is that s/dif?

In regards to a post #1 one throughout these forums. I guess it's safe to assume that they are all updated, right? (due to the scattered and serial nature of these discussions.)

thanks dudes, stoked- Guitarist

Hey, I have a crazy problem.. I have a SigmaTel 9225, and I had my sound working PERFECTLY the last time I installed mac.. I used a modified 9228 code dump with Taruga's patcher. It worked just fine, no problems.. Now I tried using it again, exact same code dump, no changes, and tarugas patcher, but now it is saying "Detected Unsupported SigmaTel Codec".. Do I need a hacked AppleHDA kext? I cant remember if I needed a different one or not..I think I may have figured out why.. I think I used 1.08 patcher, which from what I can tell even if it detected an unsupported codec, applied the patch anyway. Now the new versions shut down after they detect them.. Why?? I guarentee half the people with this problem would have working sound if it didnt detect the stupid codec. Mine worked PERFECTLY fine, but now Oh no, unsupported codec, patch wont apply.. Fantastic.. And 1.08 was taken off the download page.. And it seems 1.09 was the first patcher to start the Shut down after unsupported codec thing... Greeeatt.. If anyone still has 1.08 please post it.. I'm almost positive thats the problem.. Thanks.

Ok, I've just tried this on my Sony Vaio TX, which has ALC262 audio.

alc262test1 yields a working microphone input, but little else. "Built in headphone" is listed under the Output devices, but doesn't work.

alc262test2 has nothing working. All inputs and outputs are listed, however - so both built-in headphone and speak in the Outputs tab, and Internal Microphone in the Inputs tab.

alc262test3, again, nothing works. Everything is listed, again, but with the bizarre twist of "Internal Speakers" being listed as an INPUT device alongside the Internal Microphone in the Inputs tab.

How can I help from here? (Incidentally, I was the one who posted a cash reward some time back for anyone who could get this going!). I must confess, I am a little vague about all this talk of codec dumps from Linux...?
