trexplorer
I hope it's ok to post this here. A couple of people have asked me for a copy of my AppleHDA.kext, so here it is. Cheers ... (p.s., Just tried copying/loading the modded AppleHDA.kext to my old 10.4.8 install (pre Semthex kernel) and it of course caused a kernel panic. Safe mode boots but no sound ...) seskanda
Will this work in 10.4.1? I'm ecstatic that there is solution for Sig 9200. However, I have a Dell Dimension E310/3100 which, from the Device id=7690 and Vendor id=8384, is a 9200, but the Subsystem ID=102801C4. The problem is i can't find a Linux codec dump that exactly matches the card. The closest i could find is from the AppleHDA_Guide.zip with a subsystem id of 102801C9. My live distro of linux, Whoppix 2.7, does NOT identify the card. It says it's 'CA0106' when i go into the /proc/asound directory. Could someone kindly post the linux codec dump from whatever live distro of linux properly detects the sound card of the Dimension E310?
trexplorer
Just for fun, thought I would try the AppleHDA Patcher v1.11 on my desktop hackintosh. I should point out that sound was already working (incl sound effects) but with only 1 output and no nput devices (AppleAzaliaAudio.kext hack). I created a codec dump in Linux (attached), installed a generic AppleHDA.kext and applied the AppleHDA Patch v1.11. Although the sound control panel shows all devices (including input), the sound volume was "greyed out" when trying any of the listed device (see picture). Core 2 DUO E6300 on Asus P5B Deluxe o/c 3.3 GHz ... super fast ! ADI 1988b chipset WORKING with AppleAzaliaAudio.kext hack (search the forums for "P5B Sound" - it's an old hack ...) seskanda
Got it! Using Knoppix v5.1.1, it came up as codec#2. Now, i'm wondering if it'll work under 10.4.1...does anyone know? mifki
To all those asking about solutions for 10.4.7 and roflmao, 10.4.1 YOU NEED 10.4.8 with 8.8.1 Kernel, for this to work. Just stop posting stupid questions asking if it will work. Because it wont . So upgrade or have no sound, ever
henchman
What's the procedure again to install a new kext file? It's been over a year since I installed OSX on my previouse laptop.
joe75
henchman, the 1.11 version is a self installing patch, all you do is drag a compatible codec into the patch and it will do the rest.
SkyZ
oh man, you made it again, Taruga!! With 1.11, built-in mic is back!! Built-in headphone and input are gone, but when I plug in a headphone to the headphone jack, it does produce sound, just that built-in speaker won't cut off. Nevertheless, I'm more than happy with built-in speaker/mic already, thks Taruga!!!
guiyoforward
Is there a dummies guid for this? I don't get it!!! I'm too dumb. You need codec dump from Linux, or use other people codec dump if you share the same sound chipset (but not guarantee to work). Taruga's patch is already one of the easiest to use, you don't even need to open Terminal to type command.....
