Wow ... great stuff !!!!

Working on my Dell 6400 core duo laptop !!!

Sigmatel 9200

Vendor Id: 0x83847690

Subsystem Id: 0x102801bd

Revision Id: 0x1022

10.4.8 Semthex beta 8 kernel

Observations:

1) keyboard volume up/down WORKS

2) Mic (external as my laptop has no internal) WORKS

3) Int speakers (left/right) WORK

4) Ext Speakers WORK (at same time as internal speakers ... doesn't appear to be any way to shut off)

5) Mute Not Working

6) System profiler reports "No Audio Device"

7) During install Reports "SPDIF IN/OUT Not Detected"

8) You can select Sound effects in Control Panel but DO Not Work (i.e., emptying trash no sound) ...

Tried STAC9200 script from my own Linux dump as well subscripts "b" thru "j" and installer 1.10b and 1.11 ... same results.

I've attached the Linux dump for anyone needing a Dell 6400/E1505 script (didn't see one on the forum or ftp site).

Thanks for the Great Work !!!

I hope it's ok to post this here.

A couple of people have asked me for a copy of my AppleHDA.kext, so here it is.

Cheers ...

(p.s., Just tried copying/loading the modded AppleHDA.kext to my old 10.4.8 install (pre Semthex kernel) and it of course caused a kernel panic. Safe mode boots but no sound ...)

Will this work in 10.4.1? I'm ecstatic that there is solution for Sig 9200. However, I have a Dell Dimension E310/3100 which, from the Device id=7690 and Vendor id=8384, is a 9200, but the Subsystem ID=102801C4. The problem is i can't find a Linux codec dump that exactly matches the card. The closest i could find is from the AppleHDA_Guide.zip with a subsystem id of 102801C9. My live distro of linux, Whoppix 2.7, does NOT identify the card. It says it's 'CA0106' when i go into the /proc/asound directory. Could someone kindly post the linux codec dump from whatever live distro of linux properly detects the sound card of the Dimension E310?

Just for fun, thought I would try the AppleHDA Patcher v1.11 on my desktop hackintosh. I should point out that sound was already working (incl sound effects) but with only 1 output and no nput devices (AppleAzaliaAudio.kext hack).

I created a codec dump in Linux (attached), installed a generic AppleHDA.kext and applied the AppleHDA Patch v1.11. Although the sound control panel shows all devices (including input), the sound volume was "greyed out" when trying any of the listed device (see picture).

Core 2 DUO E6300 on Asus P5B Deluxe o/c 3.3 GHz ... super fast !

ADI 1988b chipset WORKING with AppleAzaliaAudio.kext hack (search the forums for "P5B Sound" - it's an old hack ...)

ADI 1988b chipset NOT Working with AppleHDA Patcher v1.11

cheers ...

To all those asking about solutions for 10.4.7 and roflmao, 10.4.1 YOU NEED 10.4.8 with 8.8.1 Kernel, for this to work. Just stop posting stupid questions asking if it will work. Because it wont :). So upgrade or have no sound, ever :P

oh man, you made it again, Taruga!! With 1.11, built-in mic is back!! Built-in headphone and input are gone, but when I plug in a headphone to the headphone jack, it does produce sound, just that built-in speaker won't cut off. Nevertheless, I'm more than happy with built-in speaker/mic already, thks Taruga!!! :hysterical:

Is there a dummies guid for this? I don't get it!!! I'm too dumb. I got a Dell E1505, will there be any precompiled drivers to include in new dvd releases, or this must be done in eachcomputer?

thanks!

You need codec dump from Linux, or use other people codec dump if you share the same sound chipset (but not guarantee to work).

Taruga's patch is already one of the easiest to use, you don't even need to open Terminal to type command.....

henchman, the 1.11 version is a self installing patch, all you do is drag a compatible codec into the patch and it will do the rest.

But where do i find the patch?

Aah. never mind. I found it at the beginning of this thread.
