Hi getting very close with 1.10b On my 9200 devid 7690 I have internal microphone input working but still no output although 1.10b show internal speakers as well as headphones. Thanks for the hard work any help with the 9200 would be great. Thanks again.

I did try it.

 

The audio chip is sort of identified by OS X

 

To remind you, my card is a Sigmatel 7634 audio chipset.

 

I installed 10.4.8 and tried the HDA patcher. After rebooting and going to System Prefs->Sound I see a device under Output but none under Input. In output, the device is listed as Internal Speakers as the name and DevShortNameSpkr as the port. When I try to play audio from a web page I don't hear anything. I tried to make sure the sound is turned up but I cant increase the volume. Under Settings for the selected device it says "The selected device has no output controls"

 

Any idea what could be wrong ?

Which laptop are you using specifically?

 

I have the 7634 (which is the Sigmatel 9250) as well.. and made some progress with earlier revisions of the patcher, but am waiting on the laptop now to come back from repair.

 

First question I would ask you... can you get sound from your machine using a Linux distro?

I was able to get the sound to work in linux using the snd-hda-intel module and using a parameter when loading the module. According to Taruga his patcher isnt derived from alsa code in any way though.

Maybe next version will work, cause I got some reports that things are getting in a good way with that one, have to fix a problem with outputs, and I will setup codec verbs for it too and maybe some other sigmatel also. v1.10b was released to some sigmatel users because I have a lot to change here. Hope final v1.10 will be more stable, because right now it´s creating some bad configs in some cases. I think Saturday or Sunday it will be out

i cant wait till Realtek 880 support cause i have a whole buch of boards and laptops using realtek 880/860 chipsets currently just using Azalia.

ive got the codec dumps and all just waiting on you and your fine work.

keep up the good work.

as always ill keep trying each build :(

OMG Taruga , good job....

 

Now I am getting sound from the right jack [sigmatel STAC 9221 A1] .....Wow this is amazing !

 

 

Oh for those of you that are on the old kext t, use the new one [from OSX 10.4.8] to patch it , otherwise you'll get a kernel panic !

thanks for your help. I will wait until 1.10 final is out.

 

One other question for you guys.

 

If I want to run the HDA patcher again do I need to replace the patched AppleHDA kext with the original unpatched one first or can I repatch the already patched AppleHDA kext.

What you mean with that, what are codec verbs?

I have 882 and it worx great. But since 1.10 my green port (where my speakers are connected to) is mentioned as INTERNAL SPEAKERS instead of LINE OUT. Is that correct? In 1.09 and earlier it was LINE OUT.

Yeah, thanx. With so many changes I make, some of these days you may have a surprise.

But now, I really need to study better the codec datasheets, so I can 'tweak' this for the most of us

yes, that´s correct. That was one of the changes I made with codec verbs, it was intencional and I like it that way.

First of all Thank you for your great effort in making our computers breathe sound!

 

 

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6400 using Sigmatel STAC9200

 

 

 

I got sound working after using the patch version 1.11

 

 

I am including my codec here so people using the same dell inspiron 6400 won't have to hunt for it!

Maybe, but sent one test version to someone and all devices showed up, but no sound. But some friend with 1986 reported it worked. Maybe some review and minor changes can make it work. Wait and see....

I'm not sure if this chip uses SPDIF I/O. I'm not familiar with it to be honest...

 

Do you really have SPDIF IN or SPDIF OUT ?!
