caracols
Some people reporting kernel panics issues should really try switching between different kernels. Semthex kernel from 9 December is a little unstable and comes by default in most 10.4.8 patched isos...

Ferret-Simpson
I know we're all asking, just how soon is soon? And any 9228 support? *Hopeful smile* Still, I flat out love you for the basic Audio-Out I have. Maybe I should have a look at the HDA myself. . . Ferret-Simpson
I'd guess it's best to go with the latest. If I were you I'd have a blank partition standing by, on which to install another OS X DVD. I switch between two OS's when they break. My partitions "Darwin" and "Newton"

My partitions "Darwin" and "Newton" If by some reason the system 'breaks' as you say, just boot in single mode and delete AppleHDA.kext or boot with your osX DVD and do the same.... Ferret-Simpson
Only happened using the kext from the jAS disc as the basis. After I updated with the HDA from a real iMac, everything's worked fine. Just in case. I tried booting Single user and couldn't start it. At the moment Darwin's been deleted (Some patches-gone-awry broke PS/2) and Newton is heavily modified with pretty good support. I just discovered your disbaled functions and I'm playing with them. Test 1: Turn everything on, geek style. FAIL - No audio found. Test 2: Just the Mic, LIn1, LOu1, SPK - Be right back! Fingers crossed!
