I try AppleHDAPather 1.09 with no luck (my sound disappear) my card is 861/880

EDIT

I replace AppleHDA.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleHDA with one that worked from other post (only line out, no volume change) and get line out back. Maybe some {censored} is hardcode to that file.

Probably that file omit all settings and use is own coded inside. I am not sure did guy that post the file use for sure kext form 10.4.8 becouse these worked has only 130 Kb these original about 560 Kb

these worked http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=274325

alicheuz, the kext is from 10.4.3, is the only one who gave output and input, I found with Taruga patcher 1.09 I have best input but still no mic and only stereo output 2 channels ( RealtekALC880, 10ec0880, 26688086)

Tried the new patcher with my sigmatel 7627 codec on my intel dg965wh and got this output:

* Checking AppleHDA for patch Done

0001f2cb cmpl $0x83847627,%eax

000203d7 cmpl $0x83847627,%eax

* Checking for SPDIF Out Detected

* Checking for SPDIF In Not Detected

* Creating AppleHDA Custom Configs

* Using the following nodes in pathmap

Back Mic:

Speaker : 13 2

Spdif Out: 16 8

* Copying new config to destination Done

* Repairing Permissions

* Deleting Extensions Cache Done

** Done patching - You can reboot now **

Unfortunately, after reboot no sound. Will there be support for this codec in the future ?

Taruga,

is the Sigmatel 7634 supported ?

is the patcher supposed to work on 10.4.6 ?

thanks,

JD

My last test... a while did not have the 7634 (Sigmatel 9250) working properly as of yet. I haven't been able to test any newer releases due to the laptop being out on warranty repair (Motherboard).

The linux dump I supplied Taruga with though may have been incomplete as this card isn't really fully supported under Linux either. I would advise someone who has sound working under linux with this chip to submit a codec dump we can look at.

Once I get the machine back I can take a closer look as well.

Hi all,

I am new to this "project" but wanted to say thankyou for all involved. I have built a Asus P5W DH Deluxe/Intel E6400 machine and I have to say everything has gone extremely well. Every works perfect except for sound. I tried the method of replacing the Azalia kext in another thread to get at least a Line out, but to no avail. I want to try Taruga's method but I am confused on the process. I think I need a codec dump for this ALC882M card right? Can anyone just send me there codec dump? Or do you have to generate one specific to your machine? And which version of the AppleHDA patcher works best for this Asus board? All I really care about is having at least a stereo out. Sorry for the newbie questions. Any other P5W DH board users with working sound that would like to help me out I would be greatful.

I suppose it would be easisest top go out and buy a usb/firewire solution but wanted to at least give this a shot. I already have a RME Multiface in my WinXP machine and a RME PST pci card in my other mac (pity I can't use it) and hate the thought of getting more audio cards.

thanks so much

Taruga,

To remind you my card is a Sigmatel 7634 audio chipset.

I installed 10.4.8 and tried the HDA patcher. now under System Prefs->Sound I see a device under Output but none under Input. In output, the device is listed as Internal Speakers as the name and DevShortNameSpkr as the port. When I try to play audio from a web page i dont hear anything. I tried to make sure the sound is turned up but I cant increase the volume. Under Settings for the selected device it says" The selected device has no output controls"

Any idea what could be wrong ?

I have a STAC9227 (0x83847618) on an Intel DG965RY motherboard. Sound is the only thing I don't have working, I have tried all versions of the HDA Patcher using a codec dump of my card from linux and all it does is load the patcher ask for the admin password and then it completely locks the system. I have tried every kernel type that is 8.8.1 and still nothing.

doh! nevermind. I got it working. I didn't realize they were installers already configured for the ALC882. awesome

thanks!

no luck even with new patcher :) I have an alc882. The card is recognized correctly with digital and analog output but no sound. I attach the dump of my codec with linux, hope it will help. With AppleAzaliaAudio.kext I have only stereo sound from internal speakers.

Okay i think i did something stupid could you guys help me reverse it, i applied patch and now when the pc restarts i get the apple boot screen, than an overlay screen comes saying to restart. How could i reverse that..

That happened to me, I don't know what could fix it, to make the sound work, but you can make that stop happening by holding F8 at boot, and going into single user mode (-s), then use the command that is specified there to mount the drive with read/write privileges, and rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext.

That will let you get past the error, but then you won't have an AppleHDA kext to load, which results in no sound. I'm certain my problem came from applying the patch to a system without 10.4.8, like it said to.

Sorry about this stupid question, but how do you get a linux codec dump?

I known you need a Linux Live Cd... and probably terminal.. and then what?

Thanks

You should have it like this:

AppleHDA:

Version: 1.2.4

Last Modified: 06/01/04 02:40

Get Info String: 1.2.4a21, Copyright Apple Computer, Inc. 2005-2006

Location: /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

kext Version: 1.2.4a21

Load Address: 0x45661000

Valid: Yes

Authentic: Yes

Dependencies: Satisfied

Integrity: Kext is modified

AppleHDAController:

Version: 1.2.4

Last Modified: 06/01/04 02:40

Get Info String: 1.2.4a21, Copyright Apple Computer, Inc. 2005-2006

Location: /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleHDAController.kext

kext Version: 1.2.4a21

Load Address: 0x4563b000

Valid: Yes

Authentic: Yes

Dependencies: Satisfied

Integrity: Kext is modified

If you have dependency problems, thats not good :P

And remember that one codec can be equal to another but sometimes vendors change them, that why linux dumps for you own system can help sometimes solving some problems

ps- If you can, send me a snapshot of inputs and ouputs as well as an ioreg dump: ioreg -lw0 > /ioreg.txt

Hi Taruga, first of all, thks alot for your hard work!! I'm actually using a Dell Latitude D620 with a Sigmatel 9200, tried your latest 1.0.9 patcher, and now in Sound setting, I can see built-in Headphone in Outputs!! (but still nothing in Inputs) There's no sound either from built-in speaker, or headphone jack, but I guess you're pretty close to make it work and all 9200 victims will owe you a bottle of whisky.

Here's my ioreg dump, hope it'll help you to troubleshoot further.

Tried both 1.08 and 1.09 on a Tecra M5 laptop(STAC9200)

Neither has any outputs or inputs listed in the sound panel after patching...

Here is the codec, that has sound working from ubuntu 6.10

Hope it is helpful.

Thanks!
