Asus P5W DH Deluxe thread for JAS 10.4.8

Hi everyone,

I am having a particular problem with my ASUS P5W DH.

Everything seems to work, except the SHUT DOWN.

The cpu halts, the monitors shut down, except the computer is still on, and I have to manually turn it off.

The odd thing is that RESTART/REBOOT works fine.

Same problem here.

Are there any hints how to shut the hackintoch properly down and power it off?

Set them as ACHI, that is the standard setting for SATA drives. It gives you speed boosts, S.M.A.R.T. readings, etc. Windows will need the achi drives to be installed to run windows off of achi, but that is what it needs to be.

I have triple boot here (XP Pro 32, Vista Ultimate 32 and OS X 10.4.9). After a couple of hours on Google I was able to install the drivers for XP and Vista without formatting it. I did a HD bench before and after and the results are pretty much the same.

But let's get back to OS X. On Mac OS the results are almost identical to the mentioned before, no changes either.

Should I set the option below AHCI on bios too? (Don't remember but it's something related 'ASP')

By the way, I'm using a SATA II disk on the red plug and a SATA I on the first black plug. Do you think maybe the older disk is bottlenecking it?

Hey guys,

I've been trying to get OSx86 working on my machine, and I haven't been having a lot of success. I've read just about all I can find on the forums, and I keep having the same problem. After installing OSX on the first reboot after install, the screen just goes blank, no blinking cursor or anything. I have an ATI 1900xtx. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, can someone please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

alf

I knew about the patch already, but I didn't read the whole thread concerning the patch. I guess I have to use a dvi-vga adapter on the output closest to the motherboard. Hopefully after trying that I'll get video so I can actually install the jcool patch/driver.

Thanks for the fast replies!

ok, well after using the dvi-vga adapter and doing a total reinstall, I get a blue screen instead of a blank screen. Anyone got any ideas?

edit: nevermind, I had to NOT install anything video related on the JAS dvd in order to get things working

now comes the hard part of doing all the little configurations, getting other hard drives/dvd drives working, and getting triple boot working correctly

thanks again

I've been keeping up with this humongous thread, but i dont think i've seen anyone mentioning cpu and mobo temperatures.

I've tried the program "Temperature Monitor" but i'm not believing the numbers its coming up with for core temperatures. In OSX on fairly low load its sitting around 66-69 degrees celcius. Now, when i boot windows and do about the same its saying 50 with the Asus Probe II utility.

Anyone messed around with that?

Cheers,

IAN

Is the P5W DH Deluxe still a good mobo if you know that the newest P35 chipset is out? Or go back to a BadAXE2 or maybe to a P965 chipset ... ????

I saw that almost every P35 mobo is compatible OSX but no sound and sometimes NIC configured.

Same problem here.

Are there any hints how to shut the hackintoch properly down and power it off?

In fact, the problem with my Shutdown was an IrDA USB dongle that was holding the computer hostage.

I diagnozed that by removing all the pci cards/usb/firewire devices except the video, rebooted, and shut down. This time, all went well.

I added the pci-firewire 800 card, that went well, then i added the firewire drives, that went well,

i added the other cards one by one, all went well,

Then came the usb devices, one after the other, all except one made the computer stall at shut down. I removed it, rebooted, shutdown correctly.

Hope that helps.

Just updated my kernel with this tutorial, but instead of using 8.9.1 I switched to 8.10.1 and I´ glad to report a boost on disk speed:
