AppleVPA patching already has ben added a couple releases back.

Everything used to work fine in Mojave with shikigva=32 and shiki-id=7BA5B2D9E42DDD94. This applied to both real cMPs as well as any Hackintosh where the owner didn't want to use the iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS for whatever reason. Apparently it still does work on Mojave with the latest build and both shikigva=32 as well as shikigva=160.

Starting with Catalina ist stopped working - again for both real cMPs and Hackintoshes.

AppleGVA patching implemented long ago.

I have red screen and sound  when play Apple TV app in Catalina. My Spec Ryzen 5 2600, RX 580, Smbios iMac Pro 1,1 , WEG 1.3.4, Lilu 1.3.9. I tried open core 0.5.3, Clover, Shikigva=16, 160, 32, 0 but can not fix.

No, I am using SMBIOS 19,1 WEG 1.3.4 and Lilu 1.3.9 with this boot arg shikigva=32 shiki-id=Mac-7BA5B2D9E42DDD94. Apple TV+ working without any problem. But actual DRM on Safari doesn't work.

Hello, I was hoping you might be able to help me.

I'm having an issue getting my graphics working properly with High Sierra. I've been plagued with either a black screen or no acceleration. I was trying to patch the frame buffers but was unable to get it working properly.

I finally installed Lilu and whatevergreen and now my system correctly identifies my graphics but I'm still plagued by the black screen. I do have full acceleration on a vga monitor. I have loaded the debug versions of whatevergreen and lilu in an attempt to debug the issue but there seems to be an issue with the logs. Im relativly new to this so I was hoping you could at least point me in the right direction. I see that with whatevergreen I can use a custom connector scheme in a ssdt.

I haven't edited my signature to reflect my hardware so ill just include this if it helps.

Jamess-iMac:~ jamesarmstrong$

This is my debug log. It doesn't appear that whatevergreen is working...idk. Can you help get me up and running. I don't really need multiscreen. It would be nice but just full acceleration with the laptop monitor would be sufficient.

You use at the same time two Lilu.kext v1.3.9 and v1.2.0

I thought that. Only shows one installed.How do I clean it out to start fresh

kext wizard and Hackintool only shows 1.3.9 version installed.

found this in Lilu.kext info.plist

<key>OSBundleCompatibleVersion</key>
    <string>1.2.0</string>

This related? I do not know.

So after deleting the Lilu and whatevergreen kexts, i reinstalled them and added the debug arguments to clover and rebooted. I checked the logs again and got what i was looking for...

So i take it i can fix this with a modified ssdt? I'm not sure sure how to implement this but does this seem like my problem? Just looking for some verification...

I have dumped my DSDT and SSDT tables but I never used or patched them. Would it be better to use the sample ssdt or my original one?

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the developers of WEG for implementing the new shikigva=16 Boot argument in version 1.3.5 which enables DRM playback on systems with a AMD GPU.

I've tested it on two Haswell based systems with AMD GPU's installed it works great ...

Thanks for all your hard work.

Cheers

Jay

Internal Monitor + HDMI work, but HDMI max resolution is 1920x1080x60 (my monitor 2k@144hz). When i boot os with -cdfon flag OS in settings determine than external monitor support 2k@144hz, but external monitor says "No signal". If i try change resolution on Internal/External i got black screen on both monitors. Any ideas?

So i followed the instruction for creating custom connectors in an ssdt. I downloaded the sample from pg2 and edited my info. I think i did it correctly ,although i am not completely familiar with patching an ssdt.

Anyway, clover log states that it was loaded but i still am experiencing the same results, Black screen on the LVDS. I'm not sure what i have done wrong. Could i please have some assistance. I would be forever grateful. I've included the patch ssdt for your inspection.

hi guy,my laptop have a amd graphic card that is firepro w5170m,it is like r9 m375x,intenal display is 4k sharp 15.6 inch connected with edp ,I can get it work but some problem happened.

when I log out in macos,a few seconds later ,monitor get off ,then I press keyboard, monitor turn on,but nothing showed but black.this should be screen freeze.

I had try CFG,CFG_USE_AGDC and  "CFG,CFG_FB_LIMIT" in ssdt.

here is my debug files.

and several days before , display work fine after I press keyboard.
but if I try to wake up from sleep, display mork fine ,other most things doesn't work,
like can't open many application ,can't close application,usb mouse doesn't work(mouse light is off),some key of usb keyboard is unwork.
mouse pressed a lot of macos button but nothing happen.

when I use internal intel graphic card ,same thing happen ,I don't know if it is because hacking graphic card with whatevergreen.

Thanks @vit9696 for updating the FAQ.Shiki.en.md  Now, using the boot argument: shikigva=80, I have everything working including Apple TV+ with Netflix on Safari web browser and without having to change the recommended SMBIOS for my hardware (imac 17,1 ig-platform-id 19120001-headless mode). Your team is amazing, thanks to all of you.:):thumbsup_anim::D

Hum, same configuration but, with OpenCore.
shikigva=16 & 80 does not give any results with Netflix on Safari for me.

Could you share your EFI ? :P

Hello,

I am trying to activate the Intel HD 5000 framebuffer (ID 0x0A268086) on a XCY X30 (i7-4650U, M/B Intel CRESCENTBAY 0x00000333 - 0x85FDB210) using WEG 1.3.5 and Lilu 1.4.0 on macOS Catalina 10.15.1.

Kexts are installed in CLOVER/other directory.

I've followed the manual and I have managed to boot the system but without acceleration.

My Device Properties are

			<key>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x2,0x0)</key>
			<dict>
				<key>AAPL,ig-platform-id</key>
				<data>
				DSIAAw==
				</data>
				<key>device-id</key>
				<data>
				JgoAAA==
				</data>
				<key>framebuffer-patch-enable</key>
				<data>
				AQAAAA==
				</data>
				<key>framebuffer-unifiedmem</key>
				<data>
				AAAAgA==
				</data>
				<key>model</key>
				<string>Intel HD Graphics 5000</string>
			</dict>

The system can also boot when ig-platform-id is also 0x0A260000 but as there is no SMBIOS available with this ID, I've chosen the default recommended one for desktop systems 0x0D220003; however, there is no difference between the two ig-platform-id's, there is no graphics acceleration. I am using iMac 14,4 SMBIOS.

The debug output of WEG is this

Can you please help? I am trying for days to make it work without any progress and I am about to give up on building this machine :(

Thank you.

P.S: I am attaching the CPU-Z output from Windows 10 (the iGPU is recognized as Intel HD Graphics 5000) and a complete configuration dump of the system.

Hi,

Does someone has an issue with backlight since the 10.5.2 update ?

It doesn't work anymore.

Lilu, whatevergreen latest update and SSDT-PNL into patched clover folder.

Laptop: Lenovo x270 with Intel HD Graphics 520.

Graphics acceleration,...work good.

@fraisdos

Not for me, just updated to 10.15.2 on my HP Spectre X360 and brightness/backlight controls and function are working fine.

Clover V5100 + Lilu 1.4.0 _ WEG 1.3.5

Cheers

Is it possible at the moment to get 4K streaming with Apple TV+ or Netflix on macOS using a 5700xt and no integrated GPU?

I'm on 10.15.1, WEG 1.3.6 using

 shikigva=80 agdpmod=pikera

The 5700xt runs magnificently and I'm able to stream AppleTV+ with no issues, but I can tell it's not streaming 4K. Can the Shiki stuff enable this?

So after starting over fresh, I've managed to sort out a few things,lol.

I've gotten lilu and whatevergreen installed correctly finally. I'm booting from the efi partition now and was able to successfully update to 10.13.4.

I'm still having issues with my black screen on the laptop monitor.

LOL I've read through ALL 50 pages of this thread and I don't believe much of it has much to do with my issue.

I believe its due to whatevergreen incorrectly identifying my LVDS connector. I'm going to post an output of my bios decode and a portion of the whatevergreen log. I'm also going to post a copy of my IOReg and an updated version of my ssdt that my trying to use to patch the connector which doesn't seem to be working. I'm currently using an external VGA monitor that works and gives me full hardware acceleration.

I'm trying really hard to figure this out and have spent hours upon hours reading and trying different things. If I'm going about this wrong, could I get a heads up? Its really driving me nuts.

LOL im not beyond donating for the help if it gets me running properly.

Dear all,

Perhaps here someone could help me,
I'm able to install macOS Catalina on my yoga c940 with whatevergreen and a fake device-id (12340000) so that no framebuffer will load.

The problem here I see is that the display is connected over edp, with correct ig-platform-id without or with device-id it will hang after whatevergreen intializing.
The last lines I can't see but I think it will be hang on iglookscreen.

Here's a cut from linux:

I tried to inject edid, but it looks more that the problem could be the backlight injection? So also at this log from xorg I can see, that the system also need to try twice to connect to the display.
When I try to change connector types or flags the screen will turn off or the system force reboots. I read a lot about removing alwaysconnected flag.

When I remove display cable I'm able to use macOS with acceleration.

On the other side, display cable is connected and a external screen, internal screen turn black and after login the machine  force reboots :(

Ideas would be nice and perhaps it could work?

Best Regards,
Dan

Using OpenCore instead of Clover, I add shikigva=16 boot argument but it seems that it doesn't make any change (Apple TV+ works in my setup with shikigva=16 and Clover Bootloader). Is there any different process I need to do ?

 I tested it shikigva=80 and it just freezes on my system. Apple TV+ works but when I open any DRM on Safari first Safari freezes then all system freezes in a couple of seconds. Force Restart requires.

if you are on an RX580 with SMBIOS 19,1 shikigva=16 does not freeze the system.

But the problem is with OpenCore the bootflag seems to not be working at all.
