macOS High Sierra Beta 2 success on my Haswell Lappy.

Still same issue of battery status but it's a beta.

 

EDIT: On the plus side i can now boot my my laptop with HDMI connected and it doesn't reboot halfway through booting. With HDMI audio.

Do you have boot to black screen issue with macOS High Sierra or is it the old problem that you had with unusable graphics issue?

I downloaded from the Macstore beta 2, restarted, loaded the installer.....why am I getting this cannot install macOS on this computer message. osxinstaller is missing or damaged. How to fix that?

System specs in signature help.

Installing from the downloaded .app should work unless your download is corrupt.

What version are you running now? (refer to line 1)

XPS 15 (9560) 16gb DDR4 i7-7700HQ Kaby Lake Nvidia GTX 1050 notebook. Where is the downloaded .app

Unfortunately i don't own KabyLake only SkyLake and Haswell.

 

The downloaded .app will be in your /Applications folder.

I have 2 system processes preventing my laptop from going to sleep.  One is MDS.  The other is hidd.  I believe that hidd is a process that may involve my trackpad or VoodooPS2Controller.kext.  I use RehabMan's 5/27 version of that kext.  Any ideas what to do to prevent those processes from disabling sleep?  Thanks.

I have 2 system processes preventing my laptop from going to sleep.  One is MDS.  The other is hidd.  I believe that hidd is a process that syncs my address book but I'm not 100% sure about that.  Any ideas what to do to prevent those processes from disabling sleep?  Thanks.

MDS from my research seems to be spotlight related. Metadata Server.

HIDD may be usb peripherals? Mouse, Keyboard. Human Interface Device Daemon?

I'm actually getting several processes that prevent sleep - more than just the ones in the photo I posted.  They seem to come and go as they are operating.  The one that doesn't seem to go away at all is the hidd process.  I just installed RehabMan's VoodooPS2Controller.kext properly for HS.  Previously, I just used the kext and did not have the launch daemon plist or the daemon in usr/bin.  I added those files but still have the same issue.  I have nothing plugged into my external USB ports and, internally, I have my webcam, bluetooth chip and wireless audio chip powered by USB.  I'm not sure how internal USB devices would be preventing sleep.  I thought all my sleep problems would be resolved by a working SSDT.

On my Haswell laptop which has High Sierra running at the moment it shows hidd as preventing sleep but when i close the lid it still sleeps.

Thanks for the tip.  For now, lid sleep does not work at all.  Period.  However, menu sleep does work.  But when I wake the laptop from sleep, all I get is my cursor on a black screen.  I guess that's progress but problems with wake from sleep are a whole different issue and I will need to do some diagnostic work before I ask any questions about it.

Does anyone else get empty spotlight dropdown (RX 480) in DP 2?? Also, was unable to boot with clover 4098, had to use older version of clover 4096..

 

 

EDIT: nvm, its fixed, was probably graphics related. Managed to boot to latest clover too, just had to use HDMI instead DP on second monitor

My beta 2 went through no problem. I'm not good with this stuff and just have various patches and kexts from my other (5960x) computer on this computer, which has some 12 core ES I'm not sure which one lol.

I've done a screen shot so you can see what I did.

 

One thing I noticed was that a whole different set of USBs is working now. beta 1 had my USB2 and 3.1, now I only have USB3 and the USB header working. Just in case you're using a portable hard drive to run it...

I can't fix it because 10.13 seems to have extra protection and the patches break the apple kexts. And the X99 usb kext no longer works.

Hi, the patches has been changed since DP2 indeed, try this one instead:

As you can see, I've just removed a redundant byte for the 1st patch, and it will be fine for DP2. :)

So. Just removing '75' for the first patch (find/replace), and then enjoy!

Hi LuCyr04. I still needed to change 4 kexts for the Sierra to achieve graphics acceleration. I'm having the same Sierra result in OpenGL Extensions Viewer, which sounds good to me. I think total support in HS will not have without an auxiliary graphics card, so we'll have to make this little kexts exchange, but it has not affected the performance at all, and that's very good.

What kexts you install from sierra? The names...

Hey bro, how can you install nvidia web for GT710? Does it work smoothly?

 

I didn't install the web drivers, the card works OOB for me. However, the overall system is really slow and when using Safari the system gets unusable. This improved a little in DP2, but it still isn't smooth.

I suspect that the graphics card is the culprit here
