lol_kip
I have been running Sierra for a while now, with no problems whatsoever, but after installing the 10.12.4 update, the graphics got all weird and flashing. I tried updating clover, but then my pc wouldn't boot anymore at all... And of course I was to stubborn to make a backup... Now things look like this: It constantly switches from that to normal, every time something on the screen moves... Does anybody have any idea? Specs: 3,19 GHz Intel Core i5 16 GB memory Sapphire Radeon 6570 2GB Not sure what motherboard and stuff but thats probably not causing this problem anyway Edit: Also, there is no video playback. So definitely something graphics related. Edit 2: Video playback started working again randomly? Still weird flashing though. What seems to be happening with the flashing is, that red and blue constantly switch, but green remains the same. Oops, no picture. Here it is:
lol_kip
Well, helps that we're not alone... It's strange because these cards are both supported out of the box, so it kinda seems to me that Apple might've messed up?
HmO
Install SwitchResX and to choose in the menu Millions of colors. Maybe somehow made little app or binary patch to switch from ARGB2101010 to ARGB8888
lol_kip
You're my hero... Saved my Hackintosh Is there any way you can set the colour depth in OS X without software? Because this is shareware, so I'm gonna have to pay for it if there's no way to set it in OS X. Edit: Looks like DisplayMaestro is a good free alternative for people with the same problem.

HmO
https://github.com/Eun/DisableMonitor No, this utility only change display resolution and DisplayMaestro same utility. Only SwitchResX have necessary functions. I assume that there is a command of the terminal for switching ARGB2101010 to ARGB8888.

HmO
ARGB8888=8 bit=32 bit=millions of colors ARGB2101010=10 bit=40 bit=billions of colors disablemonitor=resolutionx32 DELL E2715H=32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) SwitchResX=millions of colors DisplayMaestro=? terminal=? So the ARGB8888 actually means 8+8+8+8, and the ARGB2101010 mean 10+10+10. 8 bits per colour gives 256 gradients and 10 bits give 1024 gradients per color (RGB).
jalex19100
I hit this same issue, and I think I have the same video card as lol_kip. I'll try this out. Thanks!

Mendiaco
Same problem.I Install Demo from SwitchResX and works perfectly on my HD5770 But we need a permanent solution to change billion color to million color.
prcmelo
I'm not sure, but I think that using a MacMini7,1 SMBIOS also works... I was using MacPro6,1and changing to MacMini stopped the flickering after uninstalling SwitchResX... if anyone wanna try...
gachogavacho
I have this same problem. I took my MSI 5770 out of another working hackintosh and it gave me this issue. This is the issue described in a youtube video. Shows windows dual boot working fine then Sierra. SO weird! This did not switch my issue, in fact. I downloaded the Display Maestro and the resolution actually shows mine with Millions of colors already. I also have a LG Ultrawide 21:9 monitor, could this be it? dolan
Can someone tell me why this problem suddenly occurred? Why did this update do this to us?? How I fixed it: SwitchResX - http://www.madrau.com/srx_download/download.html And a serial from pirate bay. mfc88
SwitchResX - http://www.madrau.com/srx_download/download.html And a serial from pirate bay. If it's something you absolutely need to run your hack... Why not support the developers and pay the whopping $16/£12 price for a legit license!?! Otherwise, best not to publicize the fact that you're stealing software.
