metaphysician Posted January 13, 2019 Share Posted January 13, 2019 okay, I managed to solve the problem, which seems to be with the installer USB I created. I downloaded and used the Olarilla image (thanks Mald0n!!), and everything worked perfectly pretty much from that point on. I have USB, Sleep, and the basic GPU detected. sorry about my panic earlier! a few questions though: 1. having a weird issue where I get the EFI partition for the boot drive showing up and then sometime after booting (maybe and hour or two?) it unexpectedly dismounts that partition as well as another mounted drive. the rest of the drives are untouched. it shouldn't be normally showing the EFI partition I would think. have you heard of this? 2. the system shows I have a 650Ti card but the menu bar isn't transparent, and the System Profiler does not show the 'QE' designation that I remember. I upgraded from Yosemite and it seems like Quartz Extreme is being replaced by Metal. So should the menu bar normally be transparent if the card is fully recognized? 3. i have software on other drives that needs to run under Yosemite, but I'm not sure what needs to be done to the kexts or the Clover boot configuration to do this. i seem to remember that you could have different folders for different OS versions to load specific kexts. i know there is a strong tendency to always go for the latest and greatest, but what forum area should I post on to be able to switch between 10.13 and 10.10? 4. any easy way to get ALC1220 audio drivers to work? the system doesn't show anything. would prefer without DSDT if possible, but happy to use it if I need to.
