After a conducting a considerable amount of research to resolve my issue without making any progress I figured I would reach out to the community for some helpful advice. This has been an ongoing problem for me. I have installed Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 on my rig with the following specs:

1.  Intel Pentium Processor G4500

2.  ASUS Z170M-PLUS Micro ATX Motherboard

3.  Mushkin Enhanced ECO2 512GB SSD

4.  Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4

5.  HGST Travelstar 7K1000 1TB 2.5" 7200RPM HDD

6.  Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD ST3000DM001

7.  LEPA AquaChanger 240 Liquid CPU Cooler

8.  Corsair Carbide 88R Mid-Tower Case

9.  LG Electronics 14x SATA Blu-ray Rewriter

10. PNY GTX 960 XLR8 4GB

11. EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1 750W PSU

I am getting major audio distortion when using either the latest version of CloverALC or AppleALC with codec ALC887. I have injected audio w/ layout id 11 (and also 13) and currently using the version of Clover r3763. However my problem has existed since installing r3424 in 10.11.0. After about 2 minutes of listening to audio on iTunes that's when the distortion occurs. I also tried to remedy the situation by adding the UseARTFrequency=false entry in my config.plist but the issue still exists. I have also downgraded to Clover r3354 but that didn't help fix the issue either. The distortion even occurred when using r3625 so I doubt Clover has anything to do with it.

Over the past months, during my observations, I have noticed that if I leave my system on for long periods of time (e.g. 20 hours or more) the audible quirks such as sound distortion or buzzing seem to disappear on its own when listening to audio on iTunes, watching a mkv movie on VLC, or watching numerous YouTube videos. However, as soon as I restart my system the same issues will resurface.

I even tried using the emulator 'OpenEmu' to play some retro games and unfortunately I am still receiving sound distortion and/or buzzing during audio playback :( . I also noticed that when running games through Steam, it produces the same result (e.g. Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut).

I am not sure what else I could've missed or overlooked. Any advice or other ideas I can use to help resolve this issue would be nice and greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you tried to use another method that is not AppleALC?

for example: an AppleHDA patched up.

I had already addressed what other alternatives I had used in the OP:

I use AppleHDA Patcher, I can't speak about the

methods mentioned by you, so that I do not use them.

and you should try other Layout_id's using AppleALC.

Ok but I've already all the available layout id's that are compatible w/ the codec but same scenario.... Thanks for the suggestion though

@Frank

lost of other has similar issue like you in their laptops(Skylake) , so they figured it out by using CodecCommander with custom profile
