dual boot yosemite install ends with corrupted graphics drivers

hi guys, i have a problem and was wandering if anyone has encountered this as well

i have windows 10 installed and configured on dell precision t3500, i7 920, 12gb ram, msi r7950 3gb graphics, 2tb mbr hard drive,

i have installed osx yosemite 10.10 on a 500gb apple hard drive guid, gpt partitioned hard drive, and it works pretty much flawlessly,

the bootloader is not yet installed but that is another problem i can deal with later, i can boot from usb as neccessary.

the problem comes when i reboot back into windows 10, every time literally the grahics drivers are seriously corrupted and i end up

with a screen full of noise and no other display, at which point i have to start chkdsk, sfc /scannow, sys restore etc just to get it working again.

if anyone has any idea as to what is causing this i would be happy to hear and maybe find a way to fix it, even better !

i have reinstalled win 10 and yosemite multiple times now to try and fix it but its got me totally stumped at this point, i do remember in a post online somewhere

stating that this might have something to do with booting graphics enabler=yes or no, but couldnt find it again, i cant for the life of me understand why the

mac graphics would be damaging the windows graphics when they are on completly seperate drives ?. if you need any more info pls let me know.

tnx

hmm im gonna back stuff up, wipe windows, put yosemite on the 2tb disk, reinstall win 10 on the 500gb apple disk and see what happens

will post what i find i think

Check your bios settings. If fastboot is enabled there may be a caChe command effecting the pci bus which is set before the OS even begins to load. Once you have a bootloader running it will likely go away as well.

Give it a try and post what you find out.

@meatwar lol i now understand what you said, currently trying to work on that !

@mrags54 thanks, i will do that and post results, i tried to reinstall everything, and again after yosemite reboot into windows, graphics destroyed :( ,

since then i have wiped all drives, installed yosemite and am currently working on getting the bootloader installed and working, i have also swapped the disks around so yosemite

is on disk 0 and win 10 will be on disk 1 once yosemite is bootable.

@Ambush,

Try disabling "fast startup" aka "Windows Hybrid Boot" under Windows 10 Power Options.  @Allan described a similar garbled screen problem when dual booting in post#64 in the Windows 10 discussion thread.

On the OSX side, you can also try setting hibernate mode to 0:  In terminal, type

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0

FYI, for best compatibility with Clover, you should install Windows in UEFI mode.  This can be done even if your machine has a legacy BIOS (Clover creates a (U)EFI environment so both OSes believe the system is UEFI):

thanks fusion i just saw your post, i am gonna give this a go over the next few days, and see how it goes.

i will say this though, i have never been able to get clover to work as a bootloader on my pc or even usb,

its very frustrating because the origional 10.10.0 yosemite usb drive i have came from Olarilla and boots

with clover everytime, i have litterally pulled its EFI apart and matched all the setting that i find, checked

the clover boot options as well and matched them and still no luck.

i currently am booting with chameleon now and its ~alright ish

anyway will post the results

tnx

hi all  i have tried the dual boot again, and can now confirm that this has nothing to do with mac or bios settings, this is either a Windows 10 issue or AMD issue.

i unplugged my apple hard drive and reinstalled windows which was on the second disk, apart from my pc telling me a disk was missing everything went fine,

i reboot and then install amd drivers, the second i do the card unregisters (normally when installing drivers it re registers, in this case it doesnt) and when the screen comes back on i am greeted

with a screen full of noise ?

(at this point my mac hard drive has been effectively removed so this is definatly not a mac issue)

i am totally confused now, i plug my apple back and everything part from windows is working

After hours of frustration, messing around and reinstalling, i think about 3AM this morning, I found the root cause of the problem,

The EDID On my HDTV Is either corrupt or not being read correctly, and that this is causing the AMD drivers on Installation to display

with different settings which is resulting in a screen full of noise, i will post a picture of this at the end of the post.

The HDTV is only being called Generic PNP Monitor, The Refresh Rate is reported as 64Hz which should be 59 or 60 Hz,

There are no other supported Hz in the monitor options and there should be a few more, 1024 x 768 is the recommended

display size, it should be 1920 x 1080, also the HDTV itself report it as a LG 26LC45 when it is actually an LG 32LC45,

and finally the scaling needs to be corrected everytime i install, and i don't remember it needing to be done before.

I will try and create an inf for it, to override the EDID and do the same in OS X as well and see
