Alex Oughton
Hey there, InsanelyMac! I've just finished editing the video and photos from our trip to Mac Expo 2006 in London, and they are now ready for your viewing pleasure! You can check out the 6 minute video blog here. Edit: Somehow Youtube's video processing has broken lip-sync towards the middle. I'll try to get this fixed a bit later on. Plus it's a bit... well... compressed. Maybe someone can advise me a way to improve Youtube quality? There's also a set of photos here, although I'll be posting some higher resolution versions after this weekend. It was a very small show, with not a lot (or anything) to report in terms of Apple-related news, but it was a fun look at a few of the Mac and iPod products which Apple and the 3rd-party developers/manufacturers are pushing at the moment. Thanks to Ted, the camera man! (Although this is his first time shooting video, so be prepared for a few "shakey" moments!)

Suzuka
Thanks for that, but I kinda wish you went more inside the booths and looked at what was going on
Alex Oughton
Thanks for that, but I kinda wish you went more inside the booths and looked at what was going on You know what? I totally agree with you. I ended up cutting a load of great stuff which wasn't quite up to scratch for various reasons. But... This is our first go at this sort of thing. Next time there's something worth visiting in my part of the world, we'll have a much better idea of what we're doing in covering this sort of thing, so hopefully it'll be more the sort of thing you're looking for. In all absolute honesty though... you didn't miss much...
bofors
Alex, I think it would have been a lot more interesting if you would have interviewed people. Specifically, I would have grabed people and ask them questions on these subjects: (1) OS X for PCs. (2) "Stolen" OSx86. (3) Conroe based Mac midtower / HTPC. (4) Vista versus OS X. (5) Adobe Universal delay. (6) The "real" Video iPod. (7) Apple's iPhone. (8) The impact of iTV.

Here's the thing though: With the exception of the Adobe question, there wasn't anyone there who would have anything to say about any of those topics, or possibly know of the existence of some of them. It wasn't that sort of show. This was more about the individual exhibitors and their products, and very little to do with Apple themselves. You would more likely get answers to questions about HP products and Parallels than about anything to do with Apple.
Lostgame
Yeah, I would've asked about Adobe, but that's okay.
Swad
Great job, Alex. For our first "on location" reporting job, I think you did marvelous. Now, who knows what's next? (Macworld, perhaps?) -Mash

guyin916
i usually use a program called "super c" in windows, but ffmpegx works on mac.. do a standard mp4 file with these specs: video: h.264/avc and audio: aac, but reduce resolution to 352x240. yeah, resolution sounds like on the smaller side, but it converts flawlessly on youtube! no lipsync problems!
