It is a compability problem on OS X. You can try consulting Rehabman about this problem

You can try consulting Rehabman about this problem I realise I'm a little late to the topic, but I'm relieved to have finally found it since I've been going around in circles with this exact same issue for months. I've installed successive versions of MacOS (Sierra, HS and Mojave) on an HP Pavilion 17-f085sa with great success, but also with an identical battery issue to that described above. Absolutely everything else (power management, sleep, etc) is working perfectly and it's quite frustrating to have to leave the laptop connected to the charger all the time (since I have no idea of the battery level). I'm pretty sure things were working OK with ACPIBatteryManager.kext and a DSDT patch at first (I originally dual-booted Sierra and Windows 10 on the machine), but at some point (I'm not exactly sure when), I noticed the 'Battery not charging' status in macOS, and the very same issue suddenly present in Windows 10. The workaround - with both operating systems - was to remove and reinsert the battery with the charger connected after booting to the Windows or macOS desktop; the charge level would then count up. Likewise, on battery power, the battery percentage only decreases if the battery is first pulled/reinserted before the adapter is unplugged. Windows is no longer installed on the machine (I installed Mojave over the top of it on the second HDD; High-Sierra is on the other drive in a DVD bay adapter), and I was about to reinstall it (or Linux) in order to be sure there wasn't some DSDT issue to blame. But then I found a few threads started by other HP laptop owners who seemed to have the same problem (never resolved, it appears), and finally I stumbled on this thread today. I guess there's no answer to the problem. Rehabman tended to be at a loss after DSDT patches (OS Check fix, etc) were applied and still didn't fix the issue, but I'm not sure if he's aware of a specific compatibility issue existing with some HP machines. I'm wondering if it would be worth discussing it with him (and indeed, if the problem persists with newer machines). I'd be really intrigued to know of a solution (if one exists). It's a shame that a laptop which is so easy to Hackintosh (relatively speaking) and which works so well has such a fundamental flow. SkyTrooper
Sadly I can confirm flashjazzcat post. I got a hp-bc233-ng pavilion Laptop. Installed Mac Mojave on it, with PowerManagement working, disabled the discrete Graphicscard and everything else. It's fully patched with DSDT and SSDT for USB and disc. Graphiccard. I also used rehabman's batterymanager.kext aswell SMCBatteryManager.kext - Battery Status is working but Percentage is hanging and the battery doesnt charge. Seems to be a HP specific problem without a solution (currently)
Arcane78
Yes, this is happening with me too HP-15-AU628TX installed Macos catalina having the same issue battery was charging on windows then i boot into macos it stopped charging their and then when i booted to windows again it showed as charging but % wasn’t going up DSDT fully patched i dont think that is problem, seems like a HP problem, if anyone has a solution please do tell
