Guest ricoc90
Ok so, until now I did not get the HD 6450 to work... With patched framebuffer I don't get a black screen, but no GUI is coming up either. It's just like I'm still in verbose mode. The same happens when I do not inject the card. Weird thing is that at that point, I can't establish a remote connection but if I remove the AMD kexts (and thus being able to boot to desktop) I can. --- Edit: some progress. I am able to boot to desktop in native resolution with my patched frame buffer: dp,hdmi,vga 00 04 00 00 04 03 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 12 04 01 05 00 00 00 00 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 11 02 04 03 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00to hdmi,dvi-dl,vga 00 08 00 00 04 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 11 02 04 03 00 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 14 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 10 00 02 04 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 10 00 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 No Acceleration though... -- I really wonder what exactly did change... I am able to boot, I have native resolution, I am able to change the resolution. It's just that I don't have acceleration. I tried to replace the 10.13 graphics kexts with the ones from 10.12.6, but that did not make any difference...
Guest ricoc90
By the way: I am almost sure that the issue I have regarding to WebKit crashing is graphics related. I've had the HD 6450 in for a while and did not get any crashes whatsoever. I placed the GT 710 back et voila: it crashes
MacPeet
Only as info for the AMD problem: The problem is not just for Hackintosh. My real MacPro3,1 with real HD5770 also Blackscreen. Only works without kext and without QE/CI. With Sierra everything works. With High Sierra - Blackscreen. I hope the next beta's works better.

What about Lotus? Also, what says : ioreg | grep AMD @MacPeet I didn't succeed to boot on HS with a Radeon HD 5450 either btw. Not an Optiplex but same problem. @Chris1111 Your cards are all UEFI, are they?
Guest ricoc90
What about Lotus? Also, what says : ioreg | grep AMD In the past I only got success with Ipomoea. I will try Lotus (and other FBs) tonight All relevant kexts were loaded by the way
polyzargone
All relevant kexts were loaded by the way Meaning AMDRadeonX300.kext, right?
MacPeet
@polyzargone The idea UEFI is good, but my real HD5770 in the real MacPro3,1 also has EFI bios and does not work anymore. I've already tried rollback from Sierra, does not work either. The problem is probably in coredisplay.framework.
Guest ricoc90
Meaning AMDRadeonX300.kext, right? Yes. AMDRadeonX3000, AMD6000Controller, AMDSupport etc were loaded correctly (The card is not plugged in atm, so I can't show you )
polyzargone
The problem is probably in coredisplay.framework. Yep, I think so. We must wait next DP2 I guess. That said, I'm still trying to understand why it works for Chris1111 and fails for us … It's non-sense to me ! Yes. AMDRadeonX3000, AMD6000Controller, AMDSupport etc were loaded correctly (The card is not plugged in atm, so I can't show you ) Another non-sense . Everythings works but actually, it doesn't ! Thxs anyway .
MacPeet
@polyzargone Quite clearly, with Chris1111 it works because he has an i5 with helper iGPU. Whether UEFI or not. Without Helper-iGPU, we have the problem.

polyzargone
High Sierra: maybe its time to say goodby for all socket 775 macs without igpus Not necessarily. Needs tests. I'd rather say it's time to say goodbye to a lot of old AMD/NVIDIA cards . Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the problem just with AMD cards? Yep. I also think so. Again, we need more tests…
Stefe Hobs
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the problem just with AMD cards? I dont think so - It just such a feeling. But Apple is well-known for cut down old pigtails I would not be surprised if it will come so.
polyzargone
FYI, I heard some reports that an old Dell D630 laptop (Core2Duo T9300 NVIDIA QUADRO NVS 135M) runs HS fine. I'm sure it'll will work on my D830 rig as well since it has the same specs .

High Sierra supports the iMac 2009, Macbook 2009, Mac mini 2010 etc. All running on pretty old C2Ds.
