Hello,

I've been trying to install 10.12.3 on an MSI H170M PRO-VDH, with Intel HD530 graphics connected to my screeen via HDMI, and 16G of RAM.

The USB disk creation has worked perfectly,

I've added the USBInjectAll and RealtekRTL8111 kexts for my motherboard, installation worked perfectly.

When I reboot using the USB's Clover to start customising the OS (regional settings, Apple ID etc.) i get this kernel panic:

Any hints?

in Machintosh HD/system/Library/Extensions using KEXT WIZARD app as you can see in the image attached! thanks for your reply!

BTW Denicio, have you tried this guide on Sierra 10.12.3?

Yes, I have upgraded to 10.12.3. It's kind of weird what happens with you BT adapter... can you confirm that it works OK on Windows?

Thanks for the info, haven't tried it on windows, my hack has only a 128GB ssd with macOS on it, there is no other computer here! at first I thought it could be the fact that I had connected and used GMYLE usb dongle(used it for some days) then it created some profile that is stepping on or creating conflict with the BT azurewave feature profile, not quite suere about it, the wifi feature is working perfect so far. If you have other clues please lemme know, or need more info.

On the other hand, I saw on you profile you are a native iOS & webapps developer, in that regards, is it worth it to upgrade to an i5 6500 to take advantage of those 4 cores? having currently the i3 6100, asking in case you have already tried it out this swap!

thanks again for your attention in this forum!

I am thinking of upgrading to a Kaby Lake i5 7600k, looking good on the price. Cores make a difference on demanding desktop apps, in my case Xcode can do better :)

Just to be sure, swapping my current i3 for an i5 6500, both skylake, does it need some software change on .aml, .plist files or some other kind of change?

Nope, nothing needed!

thanks Denicio, another thing regarding, the sierra 10.12.3, is it can be done flawlessly through ABOUT THIS MAC -> SOFTWARE UPDATE? or do I need to redo this guide's whole process again with the new OS? how has been your experience so far?

Just upgrade through App Store, yes.

OK checked it. I have installed BIOS v7.00 as well. Personally I "Reset to UEFI defaults" from BIOS, then I only set XHCI Handoff to "On", Disable IOAPIC Tables option, and set my fan speed to "Silent". What is different from my config, is that I have installed a newer Clover UEFI version, that contains the "10.12" folder in kexts, so I use this one. And also I have HFSPlus.efi in drivers64UEFI instead of VBox-Hfs.efi. What is your hardware config?

EDIT: Also try to run csrutil -status and report back with output.

Hi Denicio, when you say Disable IOAPIC tables, are you referring to that feature in BIOS(V7) named IOAPIC 24-199 Entries? at least that's the name on my Asrock H170M -ITX/DL, is it strictly necessary its disabling? in my case, I didn't know about it so it's enabled but my hack still working

Yeah, you're obviously looking at different versions of the file, I can't either distinguish between then because you can't check the version (any 64 bit will work though). The file size of the one I have is 24.900 bytes. As for your second question, no you don't need to change anything, upgrade fearlessly :)

What are your full specs anyway?

Hi Denicio, finally I had some time to find this file, it looks like the same you have, 24900 bytes 64bit version according the server's path where I downloaded it from, /Files/HFSPlus/x64/HFSPlus.efi  but don't know whether I should rename it to the very same name you specify in the guide which is HFSPlus-64.efi or leave as it is, don't have any other mac around here, so don't want to blow the booting process of the only one I have!

What I understood from the guide is that you have to go to Machintosh HD/EFI/clover/drivers64UEFI delete VBoxHfs-64.efi and paste the new one there, is that correct? missing something?

thanks for all your replies!

Yes, it's this entry for me as well. I don't really know the reason, but it's highly recommended by the community.

No worries, you could always try to boot with an external USB that contains only Clover, your whole configuration as is (config.plist, kexts etc), and this file as a substitute. This way you can determine if it will work on your main config as well  :)

In your experience, have you noticed a considerable improvement in booting times, general performance, geekbench scores, etc using HFSPlus than VBoxHfs?

Nope, all these small changes are really a "nice to have" as I mention on the guide.

  • 1 month later...

Seamless update to 10.12.4, everything went fine :)

I'm having problems with the 10.12.4 update.
My 10.12.3 was working perfectly, I think the only extra software I had was the Paragon NTFS driver for access to the second HD with windows10.
First tried the normal update, I think it installed correctly, but it never came to the Finder. I gave up trying and used my Time-machine backup to go back to 10.12.3 using the recovery partition. Then I removed Paragon NTFS driver, restarted, and downloaded the combo update 10.12.4. Restarted and installed it. Updating took a while, but the Finder is never loaded. I'm stuck on the Apple logo, nearly at the at of the boot process.
Tried verbose, single user, safe mode, but with no success.
I made some pictures with the iPhone, maybe someone can help me.

Thanks in advance!

need test ;) try with/without inject

Problem solved by installing r4049 of Clover.

Did not changed anything else.

Thank you very much for helping me with this issue!

@Denicio: maybe an idea to include this version of Clover in the guide?
