speaker13
Hello all I am new here I would like to ask so some help. I have just bought a Surface pro 4. I have bought the i5 version. I have created a clover boot USB. This is not legacy boot. It boots fine in to El captain but I do not see my hard disk to install too. I have partitioned the drive as not formatted. I think the ssd in the drive is a Samsung nve. I found a kext for it but does not work. I looked in the install guide in the forums. Does not help with the ssd issue. Does anyone have any ideas thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311792-surface-pro-4-ssd-issues/ Share on other sites
JahStories
Hi there! Take a look here! They managed to get it working using this driver. Good luck and have fun with your hack! blankmac
Until someone develops an NVMe kext, the SP4 is essentially dead for anything other than an external install. If you have an install USB that is on 10.11.3 or less, it is possible to work around the issue by rolling back or eliminating the IntelLpssI2C and controller kexts and then adding the NVMe kext back in, but that's not going to cut it long term. JahStories
Did you tried using the suggested driver? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311792-surface-pro-4-ssd-issues/#findComment-2231667 Share on other sites
blankmac
Yes, that works fine on 10.11.3 or less, but now kernel panics on 10.11.4. For whatever reason, rolling back or eliminating the i2c kexts will work, but that's not possible if you're working from a 10.11.4-based installer. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311792-surface-pro-4-ssd-issues/#findComment-2231670 Share on other sites

JahStories
I would stay with 10.11.3 and that driver. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311792-surface-pro-4-ssd-issues/#findComment-2232018 Share on other sites
