hacking2apple
I can't use my microphone with Apple ALC. I'm using AppleALC 1.4.8 Release with Lilu 1.4.3 Release in macOS 10.15.3 (a Vanilla fresh installation, there is no other patchers such a VoodooHDA or cloverALC). My Codec is the VIA VT1705 chip, which is supported by AppleALC with only the layout 21. Interestingly enough, the patch was made for the Motherboard ECS H81H3-M4, which is exactly the one I'm using. This is my OC config in DevicesProperties: <key>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1B,0x0)</key> <dict> <key>layout-id</key> <data>FQAAAA==</data> </dict> The Kext loads successfully and I have audio out working. Line Out works well, with no noises and great quality. Line In is also detected but I cannot hear the microphone. I can see on the Input Level bar that there is noise when I plug in the Microphone, but when I speak, there is no activity. I tried with a different Microphone but there is still no sound as you can see in the video below, only when you plug in it and remove it. Screen Recording 2020-04-11 at 11.20.06 AM.mov I've had this problem since they added the patch for the VT1705 codec. I've made several clean installs with Clover and OpenCore but the Line In never worked. I'm not using any other audio patch, just the vanilla AppleHDA kext and AppleALC. MacPeet
@mengshi this ID 7: this is ID 99: Both have configured SPDIF-Out with nodes 30-6. Maybe ID 7 has a conflict with two "orange" ?! Please do a codec dump with a Linux Live version (example Ubuntu) for more details! This is better for a new codec for you.

fewtarius
On 4/9/2020 at 5:05 PM, fewtarius said: Howdy! I posted a while back and still haven't been able to resolve my problem so I thought I'd try again as this is the last mile of my 10th Gen Hackintosh laptop build. It's going to be a fairly long post, so I'll start with the TL;DR version which is that there is 400 series support in AppleALC and I can get my audio device to appear in macOS but I'm not getting any sound out of it. I've been working on a custom layout but have thus far been unsuccessful. I recognize that I won't have any mic support as the microphone array is Intel SST and that's completely fine. Now to the more detailed part. In Windows this is my device tree: The microphone array won't be supportable from what I've learned, but the speakers are connected to the Realtek Audio device, so there seems to be hope here. My codec is recognized on the 400 series bus as a Realtek ALC285. I've done a codec dump from the very latest beta of Ubuntu 20.04 to make sure I have the latest kernel bits, here's the output: Codec: Realtek ALC285 Address: 0 AFG Function Id: 0x1 (unsol 1) Vendor I'm using a copy of layout 21 which already has these node ids configured. Node IDs 20/2 and 33/3 When I pull my codec into Pin Configurator, I get quite a lot of information about the codec which is mostly not useful so I've removed everything that I don't need and sanitized the verbs with the built-in functionality. Default: Sanitized: I've exported the output to PinConfigs.kext creating layout 61, added the layout to ALC285/Info.plist, and the required Platforms61.xml and layout61.xml. AppleALC builds perfectly, and I can load it on macOS but like the other layouts I've tried, I still get no audio. Here's the debug log with it loading, it seems to be the same no matter what layout I choose. To me, it looks like it's starting up just fine. The internal speakers and headphones switch when I plug something in, but no audio. I'm sure this is just something silly that I've overlooked, but I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've tried OC and Clover with all of the IRQ fixes, etc but I'm completely at a loss with this one. Hopefully, someone will look at it, and see pretty quickly whatever it is that I'm doing wrong. Really would appreciate any help you folks can provide. Thank you all in advance, and sorry for the wall of text! Anyone have some time to help figure out what's going on here? I have kind of given up on trying custom layouts at this point. I believe its a problem with Comet Lake that AppleALC doesn't support yet? I had ok results with VoodooHDA. At least the sound works even though the quality is not as good and the microphone has a huge boost by default. And yes, I have also tried dumping the layout from VoodooHDA and replicate that on AppleALC but without any success. (device is detected properly but the sound just won't work)

I'm coming to the realization that I'll be stuck with Windows or Linux for the foreseeable future. Edited April 17, 2020 by fewtarius
hacking2apple
Does somebody has some time to help figure out the problem with the VIA VT1705 codec? I tried VoodooHDA and the Microphone works okay, unlike Apple ALC. codec_dump.txt
omegax
Hi All, Hi @vit9696, I have a HP EliteBook Folio 9470m The applicable codec is https://github.com/acidanthera/AppleALC/tree/master/Resources/IDT92HD91BXX which is on the list of codecs with incomplete support. I have "Internal Speakers" in Sys Prefs->Sound->Output and can only hear audio if I plug earphones to the audio jack (which causes the Output device to change from "Internal Speakers" to "Headphones"). Strange enough when I start the laptop and it starts to boot I can hear the bootchime from the in-built speakers loud and clear but by the time I get to the Desktop, no more sound without plugging in the ear phones. I have attached my codec dumps. I was wondering if anyone can update AppleALC to support this fully? I am using the latest releases of AppleALC and Lilu in my EFI partition. Also, I deleted the AppleALC.kext, copied your kext on OC\Kexts and verified that the layout-id hex value is 15000000. The machine booted up with audio in Line Out and Mic in Line In. However, the microphone still does not work according to Input Level. This time there is no activity in Input Level when plugging in and off the microphone. bisk
Aloha gang, I am trying to get the audio fully working on an MSI laptop. It's the MSI GT72 6QD Dominator G with a Realtek ALC898/899 codec. I've tried all of the layout ids and found that ... 98 = speakers OK, internal mic = OK. But HP and Line out both don't work. 101 = Line out OK. But speakers, internall mic, HP all don't work. A couple of the other layouts also work to the same or an even lesser degree. This laptop is a bit more complicated than average as it has 4 external audio jacks. They are in the left front of the chassis and from front to back are: HP out, Mic in, Line In, Line Out. Just wondering if anybody else has a solution for this laptop. Or, even better, knows where I can find the procedures to generate the inputs necessary to add another layout for this laptop to the AppleALC project. VoodooHDA kexts that I have tried are definitely NOT an improvement. I have a fair amount of hackintosh experience but never had much luck with my attempts at fixing audio from scratch. Thanks in advance. Edited April 21, 2020 by bisk typos
XLNC
Hi ! I want to request acidanthera dev's to add support for this on-board audio controller to AppleALC: Name: Azalia (Intel HDA) Device-id: 4383 Vendor-id: 1002 Codec: ALC887 ACPI Device: SBAZ ( Device sits under PCI0 )getDump.txt Specs: AMD FX8320 ASUS M5A97 R2.0 RX 580 Opencore 0.5.7 I dont have much knowledge on this but before coming here, i tried few things on my end to try get it working: I have disabled the AppleALC controller patching by injecting no-controller-patch, so that i can patch AppleHDAController or AppleHDA manually from the opencore to save time from compiling AppleALC etc. I got the AppleHDAController to load by replacing 86803E3A with 02108343 but underlying IOHDACodecDevice in ioreg always shows empty. iMacPro.ioreg.zip -Thanks : )

abcxyz5312
The report is meant to contain: 1. Laptop model/Motherboard model: Desktop Gigabyte B360M, i3-8100, 16GB 2. Codec name: ALC887 3. Layout used with the info what works for you (ideally if you try them all): 3 4. OS X versions you tried: 10.15.4 AppleALC 1.4.8 The default audio output device is reset after each restart. I have two audio devices. Both are audio 3.5mm jack headphone lines. The jack in the back is considered to be the built-in speaker, while the front jack is headphone line. Even though I set my default to the built-in speaker, it got reset back to headphone line every restart.

Panas78
Hello all,I have a Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X with ALC892 codec using OC with AppleALC. Sound "works" with layout-id 1 BUT the outputs are not correct according to my motherboard. Another issue is that boot times are longer when using AppleALC.(If i remove AppleALC or Disable internal Sound from BIOS booting time is lot faster) I test all available layout ids for 892 but none is exactly right for this MB. I tried creating verbs with PinConfigurator and replace them for layout id 1 in AppleAlc kext but then no sound at all and again increased boot time. i will appreciate any help. vasishath
Quote Hello, I have a Asus vivobook x510UNR having Conexant CX8050 codec. I am using layout 13 with apple ALC. Everything works fine except for changing internal mic gain. I looked at codec dump from linux and found that the internal mic (0x1a) is connected to the second connection of the Audio input node (0x13) but Mac is assuming it to be the first connection. When I adjust the gain, the gain of index 0 at the node 0x13 changes which I confirmed using hda-verb. I also tried manually changing the gain for index 1 via had-verb and that works fine. I looked at the platform.xml of my codec in AppleALC but I can't seem to find a way to configure the internal mic to be on index 1 of the node. Can someone help me do this ? I am attaching my codec dump and graph here. codec.txt
