For the life of me I can't figure out why when I report About This Mac the 3rd line states "iMac" and not "iMac (27-inch, late 2013) as it did in Yosemite (10.10.5), just installed (10.11.3) from MAS.

For the installation I used Clover 2.3 r3354 and configured it as I normally would using iMessage Debug 2.0 to complete the config.plist.

Is there something I'm missing that populates that field in About This Mac's display information?

I've tried all sorts of things to "redo" this by creating a new config.plist with another serial number, etc... but no matter what I do the name "iMac" never seems to change, everything else does.

Any advice is greatly appreciated and respected.

Edit 1: Build is a Asus Z87 Pro, i7-4770k, 16GB RAM 2133, no over clocking, etc... basic hackintosh.

Edit 2: iMessage fixed, able to login to MAS, update and download purchases.

Edit 3. USB installer method, direct command to create installer from MAS download, then installed Clover, etc... as normal... I didn't use other apps to help create the installer.

You can fix this

Go to Home /  Library / Preferences / copie in your desktop

com.apple.SystemProfiler.plist

Ps: This Library its Hiden folder used ShowAllfile for seeing the Library

Open with  TextWrangler.app  http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/

see the pics ; edit  this line  / save

Bonsoir chris1111,

Thank you for taking time to reply to my question.

I see your suggestion could resolve that immediate user however each time a new user is created the information is still missing from the root source thus one would need to replicate this modification for each new user.

Do you happen to know where this needs to be modified in the root location?

Merci, à bientôt!

Bonsoir merci nadia p.

Ton Francais est très bien .

I not fully understanding your request?

But your not need to replace the file all the time , when you have done this

its permanently fixing

This is only cosmetic issue , thats not a big thing :P

Since one is modifying ~/ he is only modifying that user so when a new user is added one has to then modify his document too. It would seem best to locate the original document with this issue and correct it there, no?

Bom dia artur_pt,

I have tried three things, first I setup a completely new smbios for the El Capitan install. iMac 14,2, etc... generated a new serial number, etc... then complete the other criteria (iMessage) to allow logging in to the Mac App Store. I validated that the serial number was valid via Apple's web site as well.

The second approach was to try the serial number and other information the shame hardware used when Yosemite was installed only a few hours before, that didn't work either.

I then reattempted to delete all the information on the EFI partition, reinstall Clover and redo everything from scratch. Still no luck.

What it appears may have happened is that during the initial installation something got messed up and as it's now recorded in OS X somewhere I'm unable to change it (in its root form) unless I reinstall everything all over again.

Is there any dependency in the latest version of Clover or El Capitan that requires the smbios information to be entered? With as buggy as things have been it's hard to know which to trust.

Tchau!

Edit 1: I wonder if this is live or cached somewhere too, sorry I'm not an expert by any means.

Edit 2: The odd part is the name "iMac" stays constant yet the other information seems to change after each "attempt" and reboot.
