Hi,

i have an issue with USB ports not working anymore after the El Capitan upgrade. First let me tell you about a video issue i have when upgrading to a new OS version. Everytime i do an update, It's not a big issue, i can boot with nv_disable=1 and then use those instructions below i found in another forum and then i get video back.

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleGraphicsControl.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy.kext/Contents/

In this file you look for Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6 = Config1 line and you replace it with Mac-F60DEB81FF30ACF6 = none

In this case, i have the same problem and when i rebooted with nv_disable=1 i found out that no usb ports is working anymore.

I saw a post about usb ports in el capitan here but couldn't make sense of it. His instructions are way to advanced for me.

I'm using clover and my PC boots without much as it is pretty close to a real mac hardware.

i'm using the latest version of clover, i copied all the needed kexts in the 10.11 clover folder. I have the latest versions of fakesmc, voodoohda, etc.

I can access the OSX drive from my Windows 10 installation and i can edit system files and the clover efi partition but without accessing os x i am not sure how to rebuild cache after making changes to system files.

So i would need just a simple explanation of how to fix my issue or a link to a post that is easier to understand.

Here's my HW

HP Z420 desktop

CPU: xeon e5-1620 v2

RAM: 16 GB 1600 mhz

Samsung Evo 840 500GB SSD

VIdeo: Nvidia Quadro K4200 HP version (works fine with Nvidia web drivers)

Clover boot flags needed. npci=0x3000, nvda_drv=1 and kext-dev-mode=1  are the only ones i need to boot.

Board is a generic HP/Intel board that comes with the desktop Z420. It has both usb 2.0 and 3.0 and the board doesn't have a model number as far as i know and is branded intel.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, after i added this line to the clover playlist i get a circle with a bar in the middle when booting without nv_disbale=1. Without those lines added i just get the black screen which means the OS booted but has no video since i need to edit that system file after the upgrade.

i already checked those and it didnt work for me.

i have some updates tho'. looks like the usb chipset is intel c600/x79 and i can now access os x by using chrome remote desktop which lets me enter the os and do stuff from there if needed, I really just need usb 2 to work. Will there be a kext i can just use with clover instead of tweking so many stuff?

Hi,

Did you tried to restore IOUSBFamily.kext ant IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext, the ones who used to work on Yosemite?

If you need I have many different versions of them.

Ok so using chrome remote desktop i was able to get into os x and update to 10.11.2. Now USB 3.0 works with GenericUSBXHCI kext but USB 2.0 still doesn't work. I can live without 2.0 i guess but would be nice to make it work. Any idea what else i can try?

I am trying to set up a Z420.

Did you solve usb 2.0?

What version of GenericUSBXHCI did you use? i could´t find any that works
