SavageAUS
Has anyone got sound working on the gaming 5 with 10.11.4 with voodooHDA? Mine will not work or does only for a short time. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
xianrecords
I have installed el Capitan on the config below. after a few attempts, i ended up with a working system: - 4 Screens up in span mode - Audio and HDMI audio working - USB2 and 3 working - Bluetooth working (Somewhat) - Sata M.2 working - Blu-ray DVD working I still have a few issues: 1 - iTunes does not play video. I can play youtube video, I can hear music on iTunes but it seems that some security features prevent it to play video 2 - I have purchased a bluetooth dongle. I connected an apple keyboard and trackpad but they do not work very well. The trackpad while connected move from very well to randomly to none. Very erratic I got it fixed by adding 2 kexts: BrcmPatchRAM2.kext and BrcmFirmwareData.kext 3 - When I shutdown the computer, it shuts down but then reboot automatically. I got that fixed with FixShutdown option on in ACPI 4 - I installed the nVidia Web Driver but each time i Reboot it uses the default OS X Default Graphic driver. When I change to Nvidia Web driver, I do not see any difference in the resolution/quality of the image. May be the OS X Default is set to Nvidia web driver ? Any help on the above would be highly appreciated, Also is there any help on the web or books to understand the EFI architecture, Kext and anything related to adapting hardware to OS X ? domface
Hey guys, I've been banging my head against this for the last week.... Okay so i was pumped to have bought: Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 5 64 GB Corsair Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400 MHz i7 6700K Skylake 2 x r9 280x's Sapphire 3 GB 480 GB SSD 128 GB SSD 4 TB HDD 1 TB HD All 4 Monitors work on the R9 280x's (2 4k and 2 1080p) I've installed OS X 10.11.4 and cant get: - Ethernet (It shows up in System Report > Ethernet Cards but not in System Preference > Options) - Sound (Even Voodoo is telling me my OS X version is incompatible with 2.8.8) - Sleep (Seems like everyone but me has this working) - Inject ATI (When i Inject ATI in Clover, it picks up on the R9 280Xs but only renders the 1080p screens, 4K doesn't work, unless i unplug one of the 1080p monitors) I've done all the BIOS requirements, as in the beginning of this thread, installed fresh copies and still nothing....Is this an issue that is contained specifically to 10.11.4?? Please Help

Please Help Hi there. Use the following kext and place them under EFI partition in the following path: EFI/EFI/Clover/kexts/10.11 VoodooHDA 2.8.8 v3 must work unless you forgot to set these flags in your config.plist wrong make sure you set the following flags under boot sections: kext-dev-mode=1 and rootless=0 Sleep doesn't work on my computer either and I have no 4K displays so I don't know how to fix them. kenmadsen
I'm using parallels just fine about 1 month, and its ok with my ssd You are lucky then, or i'm unlucky. Luckily i could mount the drive in windows, currently copying everything from the disk before the reinstall (why oh why didnt i do a timemachine backup) EDIT: Think i found the issue, had intel virtulization IO active in the bios for some reason. This is not recommended, all my hfs+ disks have to be reformatted as they can't be repaired by the disk utility.

AMD R9 should be working just fine but there might be some hiccups with sleep or getting it to work with multi displays which you can find tons of posts about how to getting it to work. I use an AMD Radeon HD 7790 with two displays and it's working just fine. But if you are looking for a better Graphics Adapter that's another story. I also want to dual boot hackintosh and windows(windows for gaming) so a amd 7790 does not quite fit for gaming. So i want to buy the right videocard that's proven to work (without to many tweaking/patching) So any has recommendations? let my know;) thanks
Cyberdevs
You're welcome. I know Radeon HD 7790 is an old vga and not good for gaming I just mentioned that because it works fine with multiple displays and as you can see on the first page of this topic you need to add some extra information in order to get the multi displays to work. Just to be on the safe side you might find nVidia 9 series graphic adapters (GTX 960, 970, 980) more suitable for you because they are easier to setup and the best choice in AMD family are AMD R9 390 and 395 which apple uses in the new iMacs. SavageAUS
Updated to OS X 10.11.5 through the MAS. Everything works, though my Hackintosh did freeze a couple of times in the last one hour.Did you have to do anything besides update? Any kext mods etc..? I'm actually looking at starting from scratch. New dsdt, ssdt, new kexts, new clover configuration as all I have now is a combination of everything in this thread and some is not needed anymore and it's a tad confusion. So maybe with 10.11.5 I can redo my whole install with fewer patches and kexts and have a more vanilla system.

john_s
Just a couple of questions, do you use VoodooTSCSync for i5-6600K? What C states have you enabled for the same processor? i'm asking these because i have a strange problem... i put my hack to sleep and sometimes (not always) when i press key to wake up its doing restart but not a normal restart as all the apps are open again like before going to sleep. has anyone faced a similar problem? Even I was planning on doing a clean install, but the next version of OS X is just 2-3 months away. Why bother when everything is working just fine.
